“...Oh. Baby. Lower your beak a little, yeah just like that. I’m about to cu-“ A certain colorful muttered as its eyes snapped open. Glancing around at the scenery that was covered in ruins and death, the birdie instantly went quiet.
“Alicia what exactly happened?” Pipsqueak muttered.
“She’s dead.” A feminine voice flowed into his ears. As his eyes darted around, he locked onto a youthful woman who held onto a beautiful golden gem. As the luster of light encased a handsome figure who was wounded at the abdomen. Pipsqueak eyes noticed Alicia’s unmoving and non-breathing body. Unable to move, his eyes welled with tears before a thought dawned on him. Hearing the sobs of the woman who held the jewel, his heart dropped as such thoughts became bleak.
“Why. Please… work again.” Madeline quietly prayed as she gently placed the gem onto Niel.
“If you so wish to desire the return of those lost, bestow me the gem.” A gentle voice echoed.
Donning a silver cloak that seemed to erase his presence from the world. A few steps behind was the presence of death, with beautiful white skin as black fumes decorated its body. An unconscious bloodied figure in white robes laid upon the dignified winged-horse. As her heart palpated, the winged-horse used telepathy.
“We do not wish you harm. Please hand us the Stone of Resurrection and your comrades will be returned.”
“If not, you will never witness the morning sun.” Maximus calmly stated.
Unable to endure the pressure, Madeline released the jewel. Slowly, it floated towards Maximus who grabbed it. Fusing the jewel into his wand, a blinding light encompassed the entirety of the desert. Feeling the pulsation of unfathomable power, Madeline felt defeated and pathetic. As the light lost its luster, Maximus waved his wand as sprinkles of light covered the entire domain. The once dead figures began to groan and moan one-by-one. The ruby-eyed individual awoken to the sight of emerald eyes. As they stared at each other, Maximus sighed before he and Ala-equit departed away from the cathedral. The bloodied white-robed figure fell onto the sand as his fingers twitched as Madeline approached to aid him.

As they traveled a few miles, the atmosphere darkened. Instantly a thunderous roar echoed before cataclysmic lightning descended. Before the impact equal to a nuclear warhead could cause catastrophe, it vanished into golden mist. Further away, Meguri and Xavier was breathless. Anticipation and dread coating their hearts. Regardless, Meguri refused to waver. Summoning her wand as sparrows of lighting appeared in numbers. Maximus and Ala-equit continued walking.
“Those who had slept with death had been awakened. It would be foolish to proceed. Leave here.” Maximus vocalized in a deadpan tone.
“We would be true donkeys if we allowed a demon to command us.” Xavier retorted as lighting danced around his wand. Beside him, Meguri fidgeting as she seemed conflicted.
“What do you mean about those who awakened from death?” Meguri blurted as her eyes tinged with redness.
Maximus stopped before slowly turning. Brandishing his wand that now contained a golden jewel. His face remained stoic as him and Ala-equit suddenly vanished. His voice seemed to be omnipresent as he spoke.
“Death means naught in my presence for I am the...”

A King in the Clouds
Tanlar. A cruel, repulsive, and foul word. It meant untitled, officially, but it also meant ungifted, unable, unworthy, unnecessary, unhuman. It was more a curse than a term, a badge only the damned and condemned wore. To be a tanlar was to know your life, your entire being, was insignificant. Once Kaizer had resigned himself to such a fate, but those times had passed. He may have been untitled, but he was anything but untalented. He refused to scrape by at the bottom of society. Those who stood above him could sneer all they liked, but he wouldn’t suffer being stepped on for long. He’d be better, much better. But of course he would be. ‘Fate’ demanded it so. [Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] What To Expect: The story of a boy becoming a man becoming a king + everything that entails. Largely gamelit, but later arcs could be called litrpg. Also schemes. A lot of schemes. I do love some good ol' fantasy politics and intrigue. Minimum Word Count a Week: TBA after Writathon Release Time(s): Daily for as long as I can/until the end of the Writathon. I also write The Deathseeker [Returning Dec 5th]

Path of the Ancients
When humans with the ability to control the fundamental particles of the universe with their minds were first discovered, the age of space travel began in earnest. Relativistic travel faster than the speed of light became possible and humanity moved out into the stars. When it was discovered that these Mages could be turned into effective weapons, humanity turned back to its oldest pastime of war. Hundreds of years later as humanity was on the brink of self-destruction, with its taste for war finally beginning to wane, a new organization was created. The Conclave was formed to regulate all Mage’s within the human colonies. While the colonies maintained their independence, the Conclave’s control over access to interstellar travel made them the de facto power amongst humanity. As the old saying goes, ‘Power Corrupts’, and many people were unhappy with the way the Conclave had been leveraging its authority, not the least of which were the Mages they controlled. One unregistered illegal Mage by the name of Tyrial had made it his life's mission to dismantle the Conclave at any cost. After spending decades working towards his goals alone, he realized he would need the aid of willing allies in his crusade. Tyrial would need all the help he could get learning to work with others, dealing with his own dark past, and handling unfamiliar feelings of romantic interest. Content Warning Note: They are there to cover my behind. I honestly hesitated to put them there at all but I figured better safe than sorry. Gore in particular barely applies and the sexual content amounts to light Cinemax style at best. But, at least now you can’t say I didn’t warn you. POSTED: Currently, this story is being posted to RoyalRoad and ScribbleHub. If you see this story posted anywhere else, please report it to the user "Tyrial" on either of the aforementioned sites. Thanks!

Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.
