《The oddity that shall be, my new life》Chapter 5

I walked beside Zilnia down the hall, I pulled out my phone for a moment to check the time while holding a can of dew. 9:58 pm. I need to get my pack. I thought then looked at the Gardevoir. "Zilnia, could we make a trip to the cargo hold you guys popped me in? I need to get my pack." I asked seeing if she could make a slight detour.
She looked at me giving her attention. "Sure."
With that, she lead me to the specific cargo hold they warped me into.
Was it either warping, matter translocation? Or did one of them just teleport me in? I questioned as we walked. I'll ask one of them tomorrow.
"Or did they do a sped up version of Star Treking this shit?" Psycho added to the question.
"Yes, all good questions to the mode of transportation method into the hold." Vlad noted as we came up to the door.
The auto-door opened with one of those, albeit kinda cool but somewhat generic swish sounds. I went in, quickly going to my spot and grabbed my backpack, swinging it onto my shoulders. After that I made my way back to the Gardevoir. Once we got near her room, a question came to mind. "....Quick question." I began, catching the attention of Zilnia.
"What?"
"Do these rooms have private showers?" I asked a little uncertainty in my tone.
"Yeah, and you're free to use my shower." The computer technician replied with a calming and understanding smile.
My shoulders slacked from relief. "Awesome." That made my life a hell of a lot easier. I thought relieved with the knowledge. A while more and we made it to her room, along the way, I was trying my best to commit the path to memory as best as I can making things into landmarks in my mind. With that coming up with a sort of 3D map in a digital structure format kind of resembling a heist movie discussing the layout of the building. Why it was like this in my mind, I didn't have much clue into the reasoning other than the reasoning of, why not?
Alrighty...let's see how the room looks. I thought with growing curiosity of what might be. Without a word, Zilnia pressed her palm on the right side of the frame. A six by eight inch square lightly illuminated aquamarine, the door then opened showing a dimmed room filled with a kind of blue backlighting you'd see in a avid gamers setup. I peered in with a raised brow of intrigue seeing two queen sized beds in a larger then I thought to be room. The one on the right was covered in a black fuzzy blanket showing a black dragon's head gently emerging from the darkness with would be dark piercing yellow eyes. As well on the bed there was at least eight pillows of varying sizes, the first layer at the head of the bed was a long body pillow like I had on my bed colored a dark red, then a blackish gray pillow serving as the main head pillow, it and it's pillow case looked to be made of a soft cooling material if I was to guess if not most of the pillows.
The side pillows were stacked two high to provide something to lean your back against if need be and the other two provided something to hold as a comforting thing as one slept, as well they were dyed in darker colors. Finally I saw a few bulges indicating the last two pillows as leg pillows. I noticed a rather similar amount on the left bed with a rather lack of the sort of boldness on what obviously to be Zilnia's bed. Granted if I were to stay in this room with most likely semi-permanence, that can be fixed granted if my hopes to such liberties in conjunction to the amount of freedom I'll have on this ship.

Continuing on the room, it's futuristic as one would expect but has a kind of homely apartment feeling I would guess, an added guess is it's almost two and a half times the size of my old room. Being my room was about fifteen by thirteen if I guessed right, on the floor was what surprised me to be something akin to if not actually carpet of a greyish white color.
The walls were lined with images, posters and a couple shelves holding books and other small things in a somewhat chaotic yet organized positioning. Said images on the walls depicted games and fantasy with some scifi here and there. One of my random immediate thoughts was that Zilnia was a gamer as well, interesting as it is as I didn't entirely pegged her for one for gaming. But with that in thought somewhat stupid in thinking such with in consideration of being a computer tech.
With one or two sides of me being glad the room is neater in considered projections of possibility. Another thing I noticed was the serious computer setup with four screens, I didn't really see any splaying cord or any erratic bundles. Back to the screens, they weren't small either, if I was guessing roughly they had to be about nearly if not twenty inches wide and seventeen tall each.
An added interesting thing is that they were held up on these swivel mounts. Furthermore on the desk that reside below the screens were six small nodes in a encircling formation. Holo-screen projectors it seemed, she probably had them in a four screen setting considering the four physical screens. Odd having both, but interesting still on either having extra screens you can slide to one side and to pull in as needed. Or just not feeling like one type of screen that day, kind of something I'd do if given the option. As a gamer, having extra screens was always nice. Never knew when you had to pull up something to research on the game, especially nice when you're playing a finicky game that didn't like alt tabbing.
On the other side was a not as nice computer setup, likely not as powerful either. Though it has the same amount of holo-screen nodes in the same formation oddly enough, as well not as cluttered with cords. To the left of the room, I saw a door to what only could be the bathroom. Lastly, the room was of a lower temp then I'd expect, a lot like my house actually. If I were to gauge the range of it, it would be between sixty seven to sixty nine, somewhere near or around there.
Another thing to keep note while here, the rooms have local temperature regulation. And that Zilnia likes colder temps. Or is like me, lives better in somewhat colder temperatures. "Right, that'll be your bed. Bathroom's there. For now that's your personal computer, I'll help set you up later, it'll be easier to get the hang of then you'll think. The OS is like your world's Windows program...honestly, kind of an odd name to use." Zilnia listed getting off topic for a moment. "If you need more pillows, sheets or blankets just ask. ...I apologize if it's a little too cold." Zilnia ended, not entirely knowing what else to bring up at the moment.
I looked at Zilnia with a languid smile. "It's actually like my house temp wise. On that, it's like I say dealing with the heat or the cold. I'd rather by struggling to get warm-" I said then Zilnia joining in. "than be dying with an ice pack..." I looked at the Gardevoir with a raised brow and an amused look as she was showing a calm smile. "You too?" I asked while going "really now?" In my head at the moment.

"I'm not the only one on that now, that's honestly my take between the two as well. It's easier to deal with putting on layers and taking them off when need be in the winter." Zilnia added.
"Oh indeed." I agreed, while making another once over the room. Being intrigued by quite a few things in this room. I then looked at the would be window in between the beds. Instead of showing space, it's showing a lush woodland landscape. There's those on the ship as well. Cool...Hmmm... Wonder if there's some sort of connectability that coincides of image sorting. Might be able to do different backgrounds if I get my own room. I thought towards the future possibility.
"And I have some ideas for some of the images that could be used." Vlad noted, Ideas of nice calming landscapes and other images that will sidetrack my mind of being out in space.
"Ooo! Me too!" Psycho added, having more than a few ideas.
No. Me and Vlad both said curtly.
"Why not?"
"We both know why. One, as interesting as it might be. Having tits show up on screen of that interface might be a nice idea for the more carnal side. It will be a bad idea for when one of them comes into the room and suddenly sees that. While on here, we are not keeping a perverted reputation...last goddamn thing we need with either constant sneering or teasing or a culmination of the two with added tidbits that would prove an unsightly reminder." Vlad explained in a tone of seriousness. Exactly I thought in agreement.
"Alright alright, when you put it that way. It does not seem like the best idea...heheh...but the reactions seem fun anyway."
"In the thought of it yes. It does seem amusing, but the answer is a collective no."
After the discussion, a thought pertaining to my phone came up. "So, about connecting to the on board wifi like internet structure." I casually reminded.
Zilnia looked at me for a short moment confused, her face perked realizing what I asked. "Oh, yeah. Give me a sec." She said then went to her computer, powering up the set up. Something I can only describe as something maybe like a hard-light keyboard materialized in front of her while the holo-screens came to life in the setup I thought they'd be. I came up to the computer table, rather fascinated by the technology as multiple things were flashing through the screens.
With practiced fingers brought up several programs that I think will be used in the process of connecting my phone to the network. What surprised and shocked me is that it was all in english, I fully expected some sort of alien language. To which I just had to ask.
"Alright, I'm curious. Is the main language of the OS structures all in english? Because to be perfectly honest, I fully expected seeing an alien language on this. As well as hearing such."
Zilnia looked at me with another confused look. "What-oh! Alright, I'll start with this. This is the usual language I use. There are several we use on the ship, this is one of the more common out of them. But, with the crew. Nearly everyone is bilingual, and for the few that aren't Lyra gives them translators, which I sometimes have to program." Zilnia explained in a rather cordial tone.
"Alright." I said with a small nod then added. "Another thing, I've noticed some of the crew have different earthen accents from different parts of my world."
"Right, Aiz's reason is similar with a couple of places. Some of them stumble on the language and try adding it to their repertoire, some want to try to learn a certain type. And some of the languages are required on here."
"Interesting."
"And I have to say, you humans have some interesting languages." Zilnia added, still amazed at the amount and variety.
"Yeah seriously. There's also this one I head on one of the media sites I use and found a video about a language that's just whistling."
"You're kidding." Zilnia asked somewhat flatly.
"I shit you not. It's a full on and old as hell language that's only spoken on one island." I said adding some of my amazement of such a thing.
"Huh...Cool." The Gardevoir said, pondering the fact for a moment then went back to doing her thing on the computer. After another minute the program was set, to which she pulled out a drawer full of cords of multiple types.
"Can I see the charge port?" Zilnia asked. Wordlessly I fished out my phone and held it out to her. She grabbed it but noticed I didn't let go when she pulled. She looked at me and flinched slightly seeing my narrow eyed glare, feeling it bore into her mind.
"If I find out you bugged my phone in anyway shape or form. Know this." I leaned in a little my eyes widening slightly and letting some of my built up anger seep in. "I know. Where. You. Sleep." I warned. She looked at me wide eyed, her mind raced.
"Oh shit he knows!" Zilnia thought being somewhat frightful. He wasn't as ignorant to the possibility as she thought. She wasn't expecting him to be as perceptive as she originally thought. Maybe the idea might be a bad one in this case, so in this instance she chooses life.
"Furthermore, you won't find anything of use on here either." I further added. Knowing the thought of having someone new, you'd want to know more about them. But, since she was a computer tech of an alien ship and crew, I couldn't take chances on this. Knowing of intentions had to be known. And the likelihood of her snooping about my phone and all its data was all too high as well, I didn't need some sort of broadcasting program acting like a gps giving way to my position at all times. As well telling of all information of what I go on, do and say what to who. I know this is me being paranoid, but this is a thing were having some paranoia on the topic is acceptable. And no one likes other people just searching through their phone.
Zilnia held up her hands. "Okay. Okay..." She said calmly. I placed the phone on the computer table, my eyes not leaving her's. I calmed for the most part as she now somewhat hurriedly looked for a cord to fit the charge port. After doing so taking a minute to find, she located the right cord and plugged both devices.
I took a moment if I should apologize on the sudden threat, since she's largely showed no ill intentions towards me, and helped me through that weird panic attack from hell. After considering, I then spoke after a near silent sigh.
"Granted for what I said, I apologize. I'm still not entirely trusting with, everyone here. I'm rather sure you understand in such, as well with accordance of personal items." I said in a more calmed tone.
Zilnia was quiet for a few moments. "To be perfectly honest, I can't fault you on that. I'd be skeptical of everyone on board as well if I were in your situation." She admitted, she herself would be rather untrusting with her personal items. And further untrusting being on a ship with people you know nothing about, not knowing if they're being actually nice or they're being nice just so they can get at you when you least expect it.
After a moment or two, my mood slipped into a more neutral state as several programs downloaded onto my phone, seeing it as interesting as the code adapted to the coding to my device. It was actually fascinating seeing the walls of code build up as the occasional load bar pops up for a few seconds. After waiting another minute the process was complete. Zilnia unplugged my phone and handed it to me.
"Alright, now not to alarm you. I did a few tweaks to the software-" Zilnia began to explain as I gave a hard gaze, doing nothing more at this moment as to let her explain out of my own curiosity. She stammered a few seconds, at which I soften my stare to a more almost narrowed eyed but analytical and curious scrutiny.
"I'v-I've adjusted the storage data to acclimate the new data as well adjusted the resource management algorithms, so it should be faster and handle storage data more fully. As well, I've added a sort of navigation program to let you navigate places like the ship better, gathering the data wirelessly. Uh...- speaking of that. I-I updated the software of programs pertaining so it will recognize a connection from farther away and utilize it..." Zilnia explained trailing off at the end.
My stare lessened even more to a look of interest midway through. I was rather pleased that my phone will function better rather overall being on the ship and with the potential shore leave, since last I've seen. A food synthesizer wasn't a thing on here. Callia being from what I can gather the main cook with maybe a sous chef and a possible three to four helpers around the kitchen.
"How much do you want to bet her quarters is by the kitchen?" Psycho asked legitimately curious now.
It's possible. I replied, not entirely feeling like continuing the conversation at this current time.
"I thank you for the help and the additions with my phone." I spoke with a note of gratitude.
I looked through my phone seeing what was different. Surprisingly not much, largely the same.
"No problem." Zilnia said, calming down some with the reading of my energy, feeling no hostility.
"Man I hope he's not like this the rest of the time he's here..." Zilnia thought, he seems rather nice. But seems like he can get really angry over small things, being actually intimidating. She can feel that subtle malicious potential. She can truly understand the feelings, she just hoped that the human can acclimate on the ship easy enough that nothing bad happens. With a minor sigh, I look at my would be bed. It has enough pillows I'd need, though I however do not have my sleep attire... So this is a little awkward for me in that aspect. The rest of the night was spent of placing down what things I had, getting situated on my would be 'computer'.
It was a lot easier than I expected and hoped, with a lot of helpful little features and little niches. Even a touch screen like ability which kind of astonished me, I couldn't see a reason why one would have them with such a crew. Another feature was a sort of motion control with pin point gesture recognition, scientists would be chomping at the bit to take a look at. I know in some ways, I'm one of the luckiest humans in accordance with the spatial science division. I'll be able to interact with sapient species and marvelous technology of our would be wildest imaginations. But, that didn't seem all too perdent with my current predicament of trying to acclimate to my surroundings. And the beings I'm to interact with upon the daily.
Granted, I'm rather sure I've made a few friends here today. Hopefully tomorrow will go as smoothly...god damn do I hope.

Tur Briste
A Druid cultivation novel. Borrows concepts from Wuxia and Xianxia but using Druid myth and lore. More on this at the bottom. Crow is son of Maddox, a Druid with an ancient bloodline and a people with a story spanning toward the beginning of time. Cursed, unfated, and a heap of bad luck have brought him only pain and suffering, but nothing will stop him. Nothing can stop him. A son of Maddox doesn’t bow his head. A son of Maddox understands that only a man with roots, with something to lose, will fight until the last drop of blood leaves his body. The Draoidh were once a proud people. They were both respected and hated for their form of righteousness. Power wasn’t something they gained through the might of their arms, but through intelligence. Their fall was all the more disheartening for the weaker cultivators. The tens of thousands of years that followed… chaos reigned. They forced Draoidh until most fled to the lower realms, nearly wiped out and exhausted. They went into hiding and became known as the Druids of the Oak. The Druid Order wasn’t the powerhouse it had been, and only nine of the major clans survived the calamity. Their bloodline weakened, as well as their prestige. Even the remaining clans fought amongst each other. Already on the decline and near extinguished, the Maddox clan can only struggle for survival, but their foundation wasn’t a joke. Weakened, but not weak. The other clans will understand this difference soon enough. Tur Briste, the Shattered Tower, awaits Crow’s ascension. Reaching the upper realms is only the first step in reestablishing the Draoidh. The Druids of the Oak remembered every betrayal and grievance, and they’ll return to power and reclaim what once belonged to them. The upper realms may have forgotten, but the Druid Order has not. Please Note:1) This is harem story. There are only a few chapters with sex, and it’s not a focus of the story. I’ll only add graphic sex if I feel the story needs it, so not gratuitously. Either way, Crow has several women. This is in line with Druid/Celtic history, and harems/reverse harems were an accepted part of their culture. Further, they had open marriages, meaning the man or woman could end their marriage at any time. While it was still a patriarchy, women had almost equal power. They were a very progressive culture. 2) There is a period of a 30-50 chapters where Crow loses the ability to cultivate like a Druid so he adopts an eastern body cultivation method for a while. This is temporary, but some people feel it’s misleading, so I am pointing it out ahead of time. I promise, the Druid stuff comes back, and 90% of the lore/myths/creatures/gods are all related to Druid/Celt/Irish/Scottish history. 3) I use many original names, most of which are in Gaelic or Irish. In the story, I refer to this language as Ancient. I enjoy all kinds of folklore and myths, so I encourage you to google those original names as they arrive. I give some background on them at the end of the chapter in my author’s note. 4) I use Ogham runes a lot, these are like the Druid alphabet, and they based each rune on a sacred tree so they also have symbolism associated with them. Again, feel free to google that too. It’s pretty neat stuff. Quick Translations:Draoidh = DruidTur Briste = Shattered Tower or Broken Tower Release Schedule:As of Oct 1, 2021- 3 chapters released every Sunday (May have up to two bonus chapters)- Side character chapters… this might be bonus chapters I release through the week. So they won’t count toward the 3 chapters on Sunday.- Please understand I work full time, have two kids, and can’t spare as much time as I’d like toward my writing. Maybe in the future I can switch to doing this full time, but for now 3 chapters is a comfortable pace for me. Lastly… I very much appreciate all my readers and thank you for allowing me to entertain you!
