《Rusty Dream》Weighing Things

Took an airplane today for a wedding tomorrow. Cool weather, brisk tides. There's a band for a different wedding in the ballroom next door right now: hard to form thoughts over the drums. Anyhow, on the plane I ended up drawing, a bit of life drawing. Drawing in public makes a lot of people nervous but my feeling is: what's the worst they can do? Mock you, say it sucks?–well then, we're in agreement! Anyhow, it's far more interesting to watch people turn out crappy drawings then have them be timid and silent in public. I'd like to see more people do this kind of thing.
And nobody's ever approached me to see my drawings–until now! First time I'd life drawn in months. The flight attendant said 'how's it coming?' I'd been found out! And then it was praised six ways over and shown to the rest of the crew. I reckon a lot of people are more afraid of praise then criticism. They're just words, you know. Turns out she went to art school and used to draw herself. She also said, and I imagine this is the crux of the praise, that it's nice to see people draw–really anything that's not electronic. Everybody's on their electronics, so she doesn't see people doing things like drawing, or reading books or newspapers often anymore. I'd agree with that...and yet here we are.
In any case, I'd like to let all reluctant sketchers know being found out once in a while isn't a wholly bad thing. It makes you think "Crap! Now I've gotta try to make this good." Like jogging in a group, I think it makes you go a little further than you might've otherwise.
The counterweight to that effusiveness is the acknowledgement that praise can be poisonous. It externalizes your personal motive and gives you a false sense of capability. Each action should justify itself. Is it wrong to motivate people, then? I don't know. I do think motivation should be internal, inherent. The journey is forever, eh?

Evidently, there are some serious perspective issues. Instead of working them out, I rushed to make it more 'presentable' by the end of the flight. Ah, my counterweight.

Project Looking Glass: Freelancer
When a game can set you up for life, a man with a talent for analysis gambles his future for a new lease on life. While traveling on the colony ship Pioneer Michael Wolfe and many others are logged into Project Looking Glass, a fully immersive Virtual Reality MMORPG set on the world they are traveling to. At the end of the journey all players will be permitted to keep the land they hold in the game as their homestead for the new colony. Michael Wolfe must put away the books of myth and folklore and push himself to his limit to achieve the start to his new life. Updates will come by chapter as I write them, so don't count on a solid release schedule (though I will try for a few chapters each week). Edit advice is always welcome, but please keep it polite. ((Cover is just a working cover until I can get some decent artwork)) Be advised that I am currently focusing on Hero's Call. Project Freelancer will continue/be rewritten in parts when I have finished the story arc I intend for Hero's Call.

Oracle by Default
Oracles are known as divine handouts passed down from the Holy Creator. There are times when evil exist and the Holy Creator wishes to intervene, to which the title of the Oracle is bestowed upon an individual to become the Creator's will in physical form. The Oracle's mission is to then gather heroes from different races to purge the evil. “For the reckoning that is to come, all are tested. Thou shall be the shadow of which valiant souls shine and guide thee through harsh trials. Till oblivion comes, do not turn astray but to continue down the path thou chosen to walk. Lastly, thou must not see eye to eye with, but against the world.” A mysterious man engraved a seal onto Kihet before saving him from being consumed by the flames. The seal seems to have a strong connection with the legends of the Oracle and a Tower with no entrance that suddenly sprouted near the village. Throughout years, his efforts to study the strange tower remained fruitless. Then one day, the village decided it was time for his friends and him to become envoys to look for the potential evil the Holy Creator detected. Before Kihet can set off on his journey alongside his friends, he has his own set of problems to overcome against the village. Note: It's slow. There is romance, but it plays a small role that I don’t know if I should add it in the tags. Main story starts at Chapter 12. Chapters before do contain meaningful context for the rest of story.
