《Rusty Dream》Pittance of Nonsense

Life is a balance between marathon and sprint, both are integral: if you only sprint you hasten to achieve and leave no room for error–you can only patch mistakes–while if you slowly achieve, like laying bricks each day instead of all at once, it does not matter if a few slip–the struggle is not to build the monument, but to persevere. Chase something and you will never achieve it; strive towards something greater and it will fall in place along the way.
Therefore, following this corridor of speculation, in the marathon the monument falls into your hands while you strive for something else. But if you cannot sprint, the brick laying will make dull things and nothing worth the effort will come from it–to strive towards something greater, you must sprint–no? This is the first stage of life, sprints the lightning and marathons the thunder of a primordial world wracked in storm. We waken to that lightning but it cannot sustain us and so we take on the crutch of hard work, and thereby slowly regain the senses found and lost in the lightning. To regain what was lost! What lies beyond this primordial state, once the faculties return burdened and strengthened with lessons of living?
Pain of regret and longing becomes louder and deeper and the reasons of our regret become more complex and clear, until it becomes evident the mind is coming back, and that is the indication of the pathway.

Below: charcoal leftover from a while-ago-mentioned art class and large newspaper bought on the same grounds. There's an embarrassment had when the clothes overshadow the man such that the wearer is totally insufficient for the clothes– and yet it would be a greater embarrassment to let already-bought articles languish on account of meekness. They have been bought, after all, and exercising some practicality with consideration to that gratouitous done-deed compels me. In this sense, money is the equalizer of senses: a need for financial practicality, or at least recognition of financial cost, comes about.

Charcoal is hard–getting a line can be frustrating–and yet a sense of refreshment flits from this and everything which is not 8.5in x 11in.

Dear Spellbook (Link to rewrite in blurb)
A rewrite of this story has been posted here: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/49881/dear-spellbook-a-fantasy-time-loop-rewrite Live. Study. Repeat. Tal is a sorcerer in a world where they are killed on sight, traveling with a man charged with carrying out the task. Every night Tal must pretend to study his spellbook to maintain his disguise as a Wizard’s Apprentice. If his disguise slips and his charade is uncovered, it will be his death. Seeking answers to mysteries that arose after his parent’s murder, Tal must accept any allies, no matter the risks, to uncover his family’s secret. But when he wakes up one morning to find himself trapped repeating the same day, he has to overcome his challenges all on his own. This story is an adaptation of a D&D campaign I ran but never was able to complete. I tried to capture the feel of a table-top RPG session —tropes and humor— without relying on the mechanics. This is not a litRPG or gamelit story and no D&D mechanics or system appear in the game. It follows one member of an adventuring party as he deals with the problems with that arise from being an adventurer. Namely, getting roped into adventures. The story has a time loop element, but will eventually move past that. This story explores the magic systems, the history, and the lore of the world through the lens of Tal's entries in his Spellbook and interludes from other written works in the world. New entries on Mondays Credit to JackOfHearts for the cover.

Wanderers of the New World
(Temporary Break. Working on some things in the story.)What would happen if you were suddenly transported in another world? Well, that's exactly what happened to our protagonist, Terrin Tachibana. He is your run-of-the-mill guy. Dull, mediocre, average or anything that is within the realm of ordinary. One that lives in the world without any special talent on him, without anything that would make him stand out. So what exactly would happen if a witch transported this kind of person in a world full of monsters? Join him as Terrin enters a convenience store not knowing he would be transported and meet people that would change his life, for better or for worse, as he becomes a wanderer. A Wanderer of this New World. (Pictures are not mine, just edited it.) P.S. The style of this fiction is similar to a Japanese Light Novel.
