《The Corrupted Archer System》Happy Shadow

The breeze was silent. Trees moving slightly, and birds twittering lightly. Arne thought the air was fine. The skeleton wobbled away from them. His chest was fractured in many ways, the light red core shone through it.
Logan took out his sword, and slowly approached the skeleton. Arne took out his bow. Shadow was drooling, he heard a squeaky voice in his mind, “bone, bone, bone.” Arne decided to drop Shadow and he rushed towards the skeleton.
Logan arrived there first. He swung his sword diagonally through the chest, slashing the core cleanly cutting through the skeleton. The skeleton collapsed into a pile of bones. Shadow jumped into the pile, bathing as if it was heaven.
Arne rushed up behind them. In the far distance, there was three more skeletons. Each one wobbled forward. Logan began lightly jogging towards the skeletons, and Arne followed after.
Logan was jogging slightly faster than Arne. Arne thought that maybe he wasn’t all talk. He still hadn’t seen Logan fight against something strong. That being said, Arne couldn’t kill a single slime efficiently a day ago.
Before, Logan reached the skeletons. Arne used his Focus skill and shot an arrow towards the skeletons. It flew through the air. Bullseye! Both skeletons jerked their heads towards Arne. They quickly noticed Logan and charged him, their jaws rattled as they stumble-ran.
Logan slashed through the chest, cutting the ribcage into two, he missed the core by a centimeter. The skeleton's top continued flying forward. It grabbed around the Logan’s top. Its fingers scraping and digging through the skin, crimson dropped down.
Logan couldn’t slash the skeleton off himself, he tried pulling it off with one hand but it had completely clenched around him. The second skeleton ju… Shot! Another one of Arne’s arrows had hit their target. The second skeleton crumbled into a pile of bones. Logan stopped trying to peel the skeleton off him, instead he grabbed the core and crushed it.

“Bow mastery 8/1000”
“What the fuck are you doing?” Arne shouted at Logan.
“I’m killing the fucking skeletons.”
“Well clearly you’re not, are you. You got to be tactical.”
“Listen motherfucker. I don’t need no cheap archer telling me how to fight. I had it under control, you piece of shit.”
“What. It didn’t look like it.”
Logan, who had walked close, punched Arne on the face, and mounted him.
“+1 Vitality.”
“Who the fuck do you think you’re talking to.” Another punch, blood trickled out of Arne’s nose.
“+1 Vitality.”
“Don’t tell me what to do!” He shouted, another punch.
Through the punches Arne heard small steps, and then one loud one. Something flew into Logan’s face and wrestled him off Arne.
Arne looked and found Shadow on top of Logan’s face. He heard Logan chuckle. Arne raised his head. Shadow's face was shaking all over Logan, his tongue was out. Shadow was licking Logan.
“Stop it.” Logan commanded.
“Stop it.” Logan pleaded.
“Sto-.” Logan laughed.
Arne sat up, his mind still shaking. He took deep breaths and looked at Logan. Arne couldn’t believe his eyes. Shadow was practically hugging Logan. Arne sat silent, collecting himself. A few minutes passed and Shadow got off Logan and sat down.
Logan looked at Shadow, and Shadow looked back at him in befuddlement. “Bones!” The squeaky voice inside of Arne’s mind said. Shadows wagged his tail. Logan sat up and pet Shadow on the head. Shadow enjoyed it.
Shadow then ran and jumped onto Arne’s face. Licking the dried blood off his face. Arne found it pleasant. He’d have to get Shadow bones more often. Shadow got off and sat down beside him.
Logan sat in front of Arne and looked to be in deep concentration. “You’ve got a cute dog there.”

“It’s a wolf.”
“A wolf?” Logan burst out, “How did you get him?”
“I just found him one day, starving.” Arne said
“Lucky.” Logan said
“You could say that.” Arne said
Logan got up. “We can’t sit here doing nothing for too long. Let’s continue.” Shadow was giddy to keep going, Arne was still pissed off at being punched but knew that Logan wouldn’t be the type to apologize. There was no point in making a fuss. He got up.
Skeletons appeared around skeleton crystals. Skeleton crystals were created naturally and slowly in spaces with no humans. There were different kinds of skeleton crystals, the one they were facing was the lowest. The skeleton crystal could be attached to a skeleton or alone. Destroying the skeleton crystal would stop the spawning of skeletons.
Their goal was to destroy the crystal.
In the distance they saw more skeletons. Shadow charged ahead, Arne was about to shout for him to stop when Logan charged behind him. “AAaaaaah.” Logan roared.
“To hell with being tactical.” Arne muttered as he rushed behind them. He stopped and shot an arrow, he missed the core.
Logan slashed through a skeleton. He missed the core and the skeleton flew towards him. “Not again.” He said, as he smashed his shoulder into the skeleton. Crushing the core, he continued charging at the second skeleton.
Arne shot again. Another miss.
Logan roared as he cut down the skeleton vertically. Cutting it in two completely. The third skeleton lea… It crumbled into bones. Bullseye!
“+2 Xp”
“Bow mastery 10/1000”
“1% Bow mastery has been reached.”
“Archery specific classes have been opened. Does the user want to look?”
“Yes. No.”
Arne selected yes.
Six different boxes opened up in Arne’s vision. All detailing their own unique class.

Blightbane
Miscellaneous Notes: - I want to see about making a crude map of Shroud to help readers. - I also want to get back to writing Coalescence updates. Schedule Notes: - None for now, updates when I can. [ Thank you for your patience and support as I improve my writing and storytelling abilities. I'm also using this story to better develop lore that extends far beyond it. ] Thanks to another exceptionally talented artist, Hiroeth, Blightbane now has an official cover! Vera was alone again. “You’re completely unprepared. Never before has sending one of you off made me feel quite so guilty.” Whenever she found herself in doubt, she would weigh her actions against the guiding principles of the one whom she revered. “When you don’t know the rules of the game, start making them up. When you are constrained by unfavorable conditions, inject a little chaos.” It was the supplementary message that concerned Vera the most. It was difficult to follow because it was intentionally vague and mired in subjectivity. “How can I enjoy myself when you look so tormented? Are we in danger?” Vera fell silent. An experiment is taking place on a planetary scale. Across the surface of the planet, a phenomenon referred to as "Blight" is spreading. Festering regions defended by fierce creatures called “blightbeasts” taint the surface, warping the land and proliferating unceasingly. Among the sentient creatures of the planet, it is the Blightbane Guild’s responsibility to stem the tide. They endeavor to cleanse the land in a struggle of attrition, but they are losing ground. A young man named Caim has been uprooted from his former life and transported to The Shrouded Theocracy, an isolationist nation with fanatical policies. He must struggle to survive with only an unfamiliar strain of magic to aid him. There is a secret to this magic. One he knows very little about. He intends to explore just what makes this magic special. On the far border of the theocracy, a mage scientist named Inis discovers a revolutionary new way to infuse strength from defeated blightbeasts. Using herself as a test subject, this process allows her to grasp magical concepts previously thought beyond her reach. Though she tries to document any side effects that arise, something escapes her awareness. She is playing with a dangerous force that will claim her most treasured asset if she isn't careful. Everyone and everything on the planet is a part of the experiment. The experiment is a lie.
