《The Conqueror's Black Book》Chapter Twenty Three: House Kerwin

In a huge castle in the middle of the nation of Kerwin, a massive ceremony was occurring.
The whole country was in celebration and in a joyous mood. There were two steps in the coronation of royalty, their coming of age and their bestowing of title.
The Emperors third eldest, his second born son, Riast Kerwin had reached his coming of age ceremony at the age of Ten.
However the reason the country was in an uproar was because the boy appeared extremely talented.
He awakened four years ago at the age of six impeccably. Only one of his abilities was proved to the public, yet due to a massive phenomena that occurred alongside the three streaks, there were rumors he housed three talents.
Seeing such a remarkable potential future ruler put the country in a festive mood while the Emperor granted amnesty for a year as a reward.
There was a massive crowd in the plaza near the castle which was already open wide with streams of people coming in.
After thirty minutes of conversations and blessings the venue quietened down while everybody went to their assigned seats. After that a squire ran into the room.
"The emperor has arrived! Kneel in obeisance for your ruler!" With that the squire also went single kneed and looked down.
A man with a build filled with muscle walked in clad in luxurious dark Blue and white robes, he was around forty and had an aura of command. He had sky blue hair that was long and wavy and he looked calm and oppressive. His eyes were a dark blue that seemed full of wisdom and he had a square forehead with no facial hair, looking full of dignity while sporting a small smile. He wore a large light blue crown with a massive sapphire presented at its center, radiating a sense of beauty. This was their Emperor, his majesty Ramon Kerwin!
He walked in with his Queen, Riast's mother, Queen Diane. She was a beautiful woman around the age of thirty as well and they looked all the bit the image of royalty. She had silky black hair that reached all the way down her back and was adjorned with magnificent jewelry and a matching blue crown. She had nice hazel eyes that paired with her dignified smile.
Their crowns were resplendent as they shone together and created a pleasant sight. They walked down the quiet aisle filled with kneeling people.
"We've seen the Emperor!"
"We've seen the Queen!"
"We bless a long life to our monarchs!"
Pretty soon the whole area was screaming in acknowledgment of the Emperor. Ramon got to his throne and once he and Diane settled in he got right into the thick of things.
"Now now, this is not the time for me, but for my son as we have all came to witness his coming of age ceremony, where is my minister of rites!?" Ramon asked.
"Here your majesty." An old man dressed in a fancy robe appeared as he stood up and went to the middle of the crowd and spoke to the public.
"We are here to witness the young prince become a man, he will become knighted by his majesty to indicate his rise of status. This shall be his due status until he becomes sixteen years old where he will officially be crowned a full fledged prince. Now, join me in welcoming his higness, his majesty Riast and witness his first task as a knight!" The man motioned to the opening gates as applause rang out in streams.

Soon it felt like the whole area was having an earthquake. The love the people had for the young prince was apparent and while everything was at peak excitement, two figures walked out the gate first.
It was a young boy who seemed fifteen and a girl who was about eleven or twelve. They appeared to the entrance of the doors at each side and went on a single knee to greet the figure still inside.
They were Riast's retainers, Julie and August. Julie looked nervous and a bit clumsy while August seemed solemn and orderly, a weird pair to be the arms of the prince but people were already used to their mannerisms.
Julie had long brown hair tied up in a ponytail while wearing pink and white armor. August on the other hand, had short straight hair while wearing a tight fitting dark green armor that complemented his dark eyes and somber look.
After a few seconds, a shadowy figure appeared by the door and that was when the crowd exploded in excitement. There standing was the prince Riast Kerwin. Like his father, his hair was a shade of blue, just that instead of it being light blue it was a deep dark type. His hair reached his shoulders and added a gentle aura to him, especially with his dark blue pupils and his black and gold robe made him seem stately.
He had a small accessory sword with him as he approached his father in a slow but confident way.
The minister got out the path of the prince and let Riast approach and get on a single knee. Ramon stood up and grabbed the sword and knighted Riast.
"With that, you are now sir Riast and eligible to attempt the mission required of you by recruiting a couple knights and hunting an armored grave bear hurting our citizens to the east."
"With pleasure your majesty, however, please allow me to just take Julie and August, that will be enough." Riast requested with a confident voice.
"Very well, be safe, although a bit young, you must follow in family tradition. Go!" Ramon acknowledged the request and just like that Riast waved to the crowd with a happy smile.
"Thank you all for coming out to celebrate with me, I promise to be victorious in the name of our founder, Saint Kerwin!" With that he and his entourage left immediately while the crowd was cheering at his back.
Soon the crowd went to the streets to mingle with people and just have a relaxing day as today was sort of a holiday to them.
Now they would wait for the news of their young prince who would bring victory once the mission to hunt would end and the king would order a feast in the castle and surrounding plaza.
Nobles In the surrounding areas under Kerwin who could not make it would copy the tradition and soon just about everybody would have a feast today and let loose. While the entire nation was bustling, three youths were trudging up a forest after three hours of travel.
"Sire, nothing within radius." A shadow flew forward and went back into August's shadow.

"Yeah, I sense nothing too, no matter, we're bound to see one of those bears soon since this is their most commonly seen areas." Riast chuckled. optimistically and moved forward.
After another forty minutes they finally came across their target, an armored bear. The bear looked as intimidating as it sounded. It's massive body looked intimidating with its skin looking all compact and hard, it looked impenetrable.
It's fur was a light brown and its skin seemed to be as if armor to itself, hence its name. It noticed three intruding prey with its red eyes and gave off a hostile roar before turning to face them.
"Its weakness's are its eyes and its lack of endurance, would you like me to dispatch it?" August inquired.
"No, leave it to me, I've had to control my power for the longest time, a way to let loose is much invited, step aside." Riast walked forward and upon seeing that the tired Julie also made her way forward with him.
"Julie, now." Riast commanded.
"With haste sire. Summon: Puffy Clouds!!." A pink cloud surrounded both Riast and the bear. Upon seeing itself get trapped the bear slapped a paw on the cloud thinking to smash it away but it only rippled a bit and stayed strong.
It also isolated everything going on in the circle, hence fully surrounding them. With the bear outraged and failing to vent its anger, it turned to the lone prince and immediately snarled and charged forward. With great intensity its body flew forward and its aura leaked which shook August greatly.
"It's a disciple class stage seven adult!" Even so, the bear was within two meters of Riast when he calmly raised his hand and stepped forward, dodging the first swipe of the bear and coming face to face with it before lightly tapping on the bears body.
"Shatter." With that, a massive amount of energy illuminated the body of the bear and it slowly ripped apart and fell strewn about like pieces of broken glass and looked to be extremely bloody.
There was no flair, no struggle, all it took was one touch to decimate the bear!
Riast had jumped in time with glowing blue eyes, avoiding the blood splashing on his body, as if he expected the result with no difficulty. He turned to his retinue and walked off.
"Only the head is needed, or parts of it of course. I'll have to trouble you August." Julie rushed to follow her liege while August released a form from his shadow to accompany them while he foraged the body. While the duo was walking relaxedly not caring about their path back, Julie asked Riast.
"To what degree of severity has the ability gotten to sire! That was abnormal!" She sounded extremely concerned.
"I used to be able to only cause light curable damage to anything I used it on, now its complete decimation. It can only be used with the intent to kill, thus I'm forced to resort to other means so as not to become a mass murderer." Riast spoke about his predicament in a quiet but sad voice.
"Do not worry your highness, I will follow every step of the way, no matter what path you walk." Julie solemnly stated.
"Ahaha, thank you, now let's make it back home shall we. I cant wait to tell this to my seven sisters and eight brothers. We may not be of the same mom, but our bonds are real." Riast sounded happy as he spoke of his family and he seemed invigorated again as he and Julie marched back home.
August, however, was eavesdropping through his shadow but had a dark expression.
"The fight for the throne will change everything your highness and threats will occur, even from siblings. If it comes down to it, I am willing to be your blade to strike down every threat, no matter who it is." August swore to himself as he caught up to them after finishing the task with the bear.

Zephyr had calmed down from his fighting ways after subjugating everybody in his class since none dared to face him aside from the unsuspecting girls which he would just unleash Flaare to keep them company.
Thus every once a week when their little competition happened for the sake of learning, it stranglely would have the same consistent results.
The boys would forfeit to Zephyr whenever they met him in battle, he'd beat the girls with Flaare gently because he was bored or forfeit since they were too weak to cause any resistance especially with his fighting style.
This would lead Lute to defeat any who came to challenge her throne. Their class had somehow established a leader, even the noble kids swallowed the hard pill and did not mention anything else, just keeping to themselves.
When Linus told them meet in the field for today too, they thought it was just gonna be a repeat and just thought of It as a waste of time now.
"OK class, since there has been a weird consistency with our sparring, I thought we should compare with another classes students to actually find out our progress and what to improve. We are sparring with class two of miss Barnett's and I heard a new girl came about a month and a half ago and she obliterated everybody there in talent. Thus when I spoke to their teacher it was a coincidence to learn we had two consensus leaders of our classes, so we thought a spar would allow some good insights." After a lengthy explanation Linus navigated them to a field where a class was already waiting.
The entire class looked meek and like normal kids, except for a little girl standing in the middle with twin pig tails. Her confidence levels plus the servitude of her class made her seem like a crane in a flock of chickens.

Overseer (Dwarf Fortress x Worm)
A young woman gains the power to make elements of a saved game real. She must then survive the assault of a coordinated attack by some of the deadliest parahumans on the planet - he same group of murderhobos that caused her the mental trauma that resulted in her gaining her powers to begin with. This is a crossover fiction between the most complicated game ever created, 'Dwarf Fortress' by Toady One, and an extensive grimdark superpower genre serial fiction called 'Worm' by Wildbow. It is violent and there are some references to sex in it, so it's probably not fit for young children to read, and persons not familiar with Dwarf Fortress or Worm might be confused by some elements, but I feel confident that it stands reasonably well on it's own. This crossover is complete. I posted it here in it's entirety all at once. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
