《ES Modern Dungeon》I have Taken a Prisoner!

I had a dilemma: should I kill him and absorb him or spare him and risk him becoming a liability. On one side killing him is the most cost efficient option but it could affect my future standing with other sapient races. Being merciful is wasteful biomatter wise and makes it easier for others to notice me. I don’t know if mind magic exists or other magic bullshit.
I might as well try to interrogate him and then I’ll decide. I used his shoe laces to make a simple knot that will suffocate him the moment he tries to move out of his position. Using a wall and a chair as a support I placed him in a way his torso was supported by a chair, and feet were tied and placed against a wall. His neck was decorated with a suicide knot.
I waited for an hour to recover some of my mana, I didn’t sit around, I went through his stuff and saw that he lives alone and is a son of someone rich. This fact alone almost made me decide to spare him entirely and possibly turn him into my minion. But that would be boring. Cost efficient but boring, after gathering information about him and his family I sent a pulse of mana to his mind to wake him up.
He jerked upwards in rapid motion, which coupled with his already unsteady posture made him fall over and began choking. I helped him go back to his previous position and said:
-”So now you aren’t choking now would you please be so kind as to answer some of my questions? And before you start begging for your life or throwing empty threats, please think about your current situation.” I smiled but my eyes were not smiling.

-”Wha, Why?.... You know what? This is definitely better than doing my homework or listening to nagging of step ma. So what do you want to know?” He was confused at first but he quickly got over himself. Looks like this wasn’t his first time, I almost felt pity.
-”You can call me J O D, It’s an acronym of my name and my job. Anyway I would like to ask you about the city we are in and summarise the history of the world. As for why I need to know it, let's say that I took so many drugs that I imagined a different world altogether and forgot quite a lot.” I said and began a long and tiring session of extracting information out of him. He was very cooperative and helpful. Our conversation lasted entire day, at the end I asked:
-”Since you were so cooperative and nice I have an offer for you. Body optimisation and redesign for an accommodation and food. I can also teach you some nifty tricks, but you would need to have an affinity for it.” When I said the last sentence I condensed all of my mana into a crystal right in front of him.
-”What do you mean by… Uhh… Okay sure, It was a while when anyone was staying here with me. Shall we eat something? I can order pizza If that’s fine with you?” He looked lost, and his attempts at being composed were rather futile.
-”I don’t mind the type of food body enhancement and optimisation requires a lot of biomass or an absurd amount of energy I don’t have. If you want pizza then order the biggest one, or take something that is full of calories.
Doesn’t need to have vitamins. As for checking your affinity I’ll need to put my hand on your torso and forcefully move energy through you. It will hurt but whatever is your affinity this procedure will awaken it.” I said in an almost monotone voice as I was freeing him from my small death trap.

-”Uhhh can you let me use the toilet first and stretch a little? While you were surprisingly nice, the position I was in wasn’t the most comfortable.” He said with a hint of complaint in his voice.
-”You agreed to a deal that makes us equal. I may be stronger than you and slightly more knowledgeable in certain fields that doesn’t mean I am better. It would be great If you treat me like an equal. And I’m sorry if I had better supplies or knew where everything was I'd make something more comfortable.” I said with a fake complaint and apologized to him with some sarcasm in my voice.
-”Huh, okay then I’ll be back in a bit…”

Triquetra: A Multi-Class Isekai or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Accept the End of the Multiverse
Triquetra: An Multi-Class Isekei Adventure I know, I know, you have heard it all before. Yes I was hit by a truck. Yes I ended up in a Fantastical World suspiciously similar to one of my favorite RPG’s. Yes I had access to cheats no one else possessed. Yes it was a world of classes and levels and magic powers. Finally, yes I was an overweight middle-aged loser failing to live up to my potential. Given my eclectic reading habits I should have been better prepared. Unfortunately I was not. Sure I could multi-class with reduced penalties, but my starting class was Scholar! No combat abilities and very limited spellcasting. My HUD interface costs mana to use, and my universal translation seemed to be outsourced to Giggle Translate. I’m supposed to be an OP MC! Not a slice-o- life struggling to survive in the wilderness. Not to mention the Arch-Magus who summoned me, mistimed everything, I arrived 300 years too late, after the fall of the Empire I was supposed to save. The surviving remnants have devolved into Murder Hobos. What’s worse is that the Great Devourer, Ancient Calamity, and Spawn from the Void Beyond Time, Space, and Sanity is now aware of a new world to plunder, a world called Dirt! (Told you this translator sucks) Warning Extra Crunchy Authorial Vebosity! Lots of infodump in the early chapters, but I learn my lesson and it does get better, eventually. I do not own the Cover image, found it on a free image site.

Path of the Golden Average
It's the beginning of a new school year, and Ethan Burkhardt has finally accomplished his greatest goal. Inrollment at an HCP (Hero Certification Progam) in Chicago, Illinois. Sizemore Tech might not have been his first choice, but they were the only ones willing to accept his application. Now, he just has to endure 4 years of brutal testing. The good news: He won't be alone. An entire class of strangers will be thrown together, young men and women all with the dream of becoming licensed Heros. They will be forced to either sink or swim (sometimes literally), but for most, their greatest challenge will be each other. The bad news: Someone is working behind the scenes, manipulating people and events towards some unknown goal. Are they on the side of the students? Or are they preparing to bring down the next generation of heroes before they can even graduate? A story based in the world of Drew Hayes "SuperPowereds" Series, this is my attempt at a fan-fiction that holds very close to the canonical worldbuilding already done. I hope you enjoy.

A Wheel Inside a Wheel
Two brilliant young me, Reinhard von Musel and Yang Wen-li, are forced to flee the countries of their birth and become refugees on opposite sides of a century long galactic war. While they both struggle to adapt to their new lives, their obvious talent propels them to the forefront of the war. Their choices will shape their adoptive homelands forever, and their clash will decide the future of the galaxy. This story is broken up into volumes, each following one half of the conflict. You can read them in chronological order, or you can follow just Yang or Reinhard. See individual descriptions below. Part One - Speaking in Tongues When Yang Wen-li’s father dies, the only thing that he inherits is a mountain of debt, which can only be paid off with fifteen years of his life. Wanting to escape that indentured servitude, Yang flees his homeland and takes up a false identity in the Galactic Empire, a hyper-stratified society where stepping out of line is punishable with imprisonment or death. Yang enrolls in the Imperial Officers’ Academy to study history, but despite his unusual and unmistakeable talent as both a tactician and a scholar, his classmates resent him for being a visible outsider. When tensions at the school boil over and several of Yang’s classmates attempt to murder him, Yang finds an unlikely ally in the top student in the class: the aloof Oskar von Reuenthal. But Reuenthal and Yang both have secrets, secrets which could destroy both their lives and their newfound friendship. [70k words, complete] Part One (Alternate) - Talking Without Speaking When Oskar von Reuenthal enrolls at the Imperial Officers' Academy, he doesn’t expect to make real friends. The IOA is a competitive place, and Reuenthal has never been well liked. But when a foreign student shows up to challenge him for the top spot in the class, Reuenthal can’t look away. [77k words, complete] Part Two - Life out of Balance When Reinhard von Musel's mother learns that her husband is about to sell her daughter to become the concubine of the Kaiser, she takes her two children, Reinhard and Annerose, and flees to the Free Planets Alliance, where the three of them must start a new life. [129k words, complete] Part Three - Servants of the Pharaoh Now an officer in His Majesty's fleet, Yang Wen-li struggles to maintain his principles in the face of everything that is expected of him. When he's unwillingly drawn into the politics of the court, he has to use all of his talents to keep himself and his new friends out of danger. [173k words, complete] Short - Whatever It Takes to Keep the Body Warm After their falling out, Reuenthal and Mittermeyer are both posted to the brutal wasteland of Capche-Lanka. It's difficult to hold a grudge when you're just trying to survive. [23k words, complete] Short - Keep the Home Fires (Burning) Three soldiers. Two bodies to be buried. One haunted house. [33k words, complete] Part Four - Lighting Out for the Territories While his sister has joined the fierce Rosen Ritter regiment, Reinhard's fame has earned him a post stuck on Phezzan. Instead of getting to fight, he's caught up in a web of secrets, including the shelter and care of a mysterious refugee from the Empire. Separated from everyone he cares about, Reinhard is forced to make some unexpected allies, and make connections with old friends. [147k words, complete] Part Five - Serpent's Mouth, Serpent's Teeth After having sacrificed his freedom to save his best friend's life, Yang must figure out how to win, and not just survive, the largest civil war in human history.
