《Bloodsong》12

Overlooking a hangar of charcoal-colored military vehicles, Lara adjusted the gloves of the dark plum armor. She was still recovering from the surprise of having it installed onto her body by a spider-like machine.
Once out of it’s claws and atop her skin, the thinly armored material had attached to itself and blended seamlessly. Zanatos had explained the suit’s technology to her over an intercom as she was doused by an automated shower. “Tad aggressive,” she had mumbled.
The elastic of a hair tie snapped against her encased wrist as she manipulated it onto a ponytail high atop her head.
Zanatos walked up with a black, reflective mask and two thick silver sticks. She took them which she realized were more like long, thin rectangles.
“There are holders for those, there,” he informed her, pointing to the small compartments big enough for both rectangular objects on the straps lining either side of her thighs.
“These are for...?”
The coordinator motioned up and down, instructing her to follow the movement as he took a step back.
With one flick, several blades slipped down, connected by a thin, black metallic material.
“Okay!” Lara exclaimed, taken aback.
“Engineered with only the best in mind -- and sharp. Like their owner, I’d hope,” he added as she examined them.
Lara masked her sudden excitement and nodded, slipping the fans into the carriers on her sides.
A small sleek plane approached the hangar as Lara took the reflective black mask and placed it against her face. There was a silent whirring as the material expanded and wrapped comfortably down her neck and around her head, and ended at her ponytail, which Lara messed with.
“Should I do something about this?”
Zanatos analyzed it. “Hm. I suppose if we had more time and testing this would be fixed. But we have neither.”With the suit fully complete, it compressed further, forming small, faint hexagons as it clung to her body. “You’ll have to go with it.”

“Honestly, this was much more than I was expecting for what you asked me to do.” Lara said, muffled behind her helmet. “Is there something you’re not telling me?”
“Things don’t always go according to plan, Miss Ravenswood. Just look at what brought you here.”
She couldn’t deny it, but she wouldn’t approve of his statement, either. “I didn’t have a plan.”
“We do.”
“We?”
“You’ll meet the Sisters soon enough,” Zanatos said cryptically. His voice rose as the plane docked and opened its bridge. “Auto-pilot will take you to your destination. Double tap and trace a shape you’ll remember on the side of your helmet -- yes, now.”
Lara complied.
“Excellent; you are now trace-linked with your transport. Once you have the target, it’ll read your signal and return to retrieve you.”
She nodded in confirmation, although she was somewhat suspicious of the dependence she was placing on the technology. Nonetheless, the pulse of anticipation had returned.
When she stepped onto the plane, she turned to catch Zanatos’ sly smirk before the bridge lifted, sealing her in.

An old man's new world
An old man on his deathbed has many regrets, but the one thing he regrets the most is not fulfilling his sense of adventure. What would he do if given a new change? I always try to make the characters as realistic as possible by giving them lives of their own and motivations for doing different actions, but because I'm a new author, I might miss a few things, so please, feel free to tell me if something feels fake or unrealistic. I also write as a hobby, and my motivation tends to go up and down. If I'm not feeling motivated, I won't force myself to write. This means that the upload schedule might have abrupt gaps and sudden spurts.

Almost a Good Person
A memory, a memory of a boy who wanted more than pain, of a girl who wanted more than death, and an Isle that should not exist. The Isle of Red is a small, unassuming, quiet place. It is just large enough for a college, a small town, and maybe even a few more unusual sorts of places. Of course, the townsfolk practically know each other as family. Flush-faced regulars can be found toasting just about anything in the Briar's Brew, then, a few streets away, the same haggle of older women stationed themselves on their perch as they did every day from one of the few balconies in Central Square. They fuss away now, spouting the usual gossip as they watch us all from on high. Then there is the College here on the Isle of Red. My college. It has been often described as an unusual place by a good deal of people on the mainland. If they only would visit -why I am sure they'll soon have a change of heart, they may even come to find it a quaint sort of place, odd but in the same way a tattered old quilt can be both odd looking and warm, and especially soft. We teach mostly the same sort of disciplines here, with fantastic and absolutely normal professors.I must conclude that I am quite smitten with myself. The stage is set with a level of perfection that would have astonished me in my youth. They are coming. Derek will follow her. He knows the weight of reality too intimately, but she will be his true north if only for a short time. A beacon in the storm to show him the stunning pastels and brightness the sun may yet refract through his thinner, sharper pieces. Theoline will lead as she always has- well not always, not yet. She holds onto questions feverishly tight, that one. Lights them up inside like a new type of fuel without the slightest worry of being burned. She knows... There is but a certain few who can look at a map and find nothing where I stand but the Atlantic Ocean. And still, there is earth beneath me, a noisy pub down the road from me, and several people clucking conspiratorially on a balcony above me. She knows... that the Isle of Red doesn't belong here. Neither, technically, do I. (Hello!
