《I study magic, for destruction?》Chapter 9

I clenched my hands into fists and released, letting free the mana that I trapped inside the time zone. The heavy pressure in my body lightened up, feeling like an anchor had been lifted from my shoulders.
I receded the sphere back into the dome and looked at my reflection. The grey hairs darkened back to their full black color. The wrinkles that formed on my forehead straightening out, I felt invigorated!
“Gah!” screamed from outside the dome.
Oh, I forgot about those two. I wonder how taking a fireball to the face and having electricity zap you with a hundred volts feels. Not nice I assume, but who knows? They might be masochistic.
I lowered the top of the dome and jumped out, landing on top of the bookshelf nearby. I glanced down at the two bodies on the ground. The fire kid twitched while the other one had his hair sizzling.
I looked over to the rows of bookshelves where the lightning stuck, the fire spreading over to the other rows of shelves. In a way, isn’t this a beautiful sight? I felt the rumblings from the cyclops moving on the other side of the building.
I flicked my hand up, creating a barrier from down the overhang of the second floor. Now then, no one can disturb us.
I heard the whistling in the air coming for me again, this time from just one side. He’s using shadow magic so there’s one way to counter that. I leaned back to dodge the predictable needles and outstretched both hands to my sides.
Let there be light!
Six bright golden balls shot out from my hands and spaced themselves apart down the rows of shelves. They hovered up onto the ceiling and flickered until they started emanating a burning brightness over the whole area. Now, now, there will not be a single shadow for him to slunk into.

I closed my eyes and focused on his energy. Oh, behind the pillar?
“So you figured it out?” he yelled out.
I shot out another perfect sphere and floated it above his head. I created a shard of ice in my hand and I could see that he was trying to conjure up something in his hand. A fireball like his friend? No, it’s dark, fizzling out from the light.
“Shadow magic won’t work, have you exhausted all your options?”
I flicked my finger to the left, the sphere turning into an icicle shooting down at him. I could see the fear in his eyes as the shard speared right to him. I flicked downwards when it was an inch away from his face, piercing him in the leg.
I let out a smirk when I saw his pained expression, blood trickling down his leg. However my smile quickly receded as the body slowly turned to mist, evaporating in the air. Hmm. Now what’s this?
I turned to my left to see the bodies also fading into mist. Were they being teleported? Summoned? Isekai’d? Sigh, oh well. At least they knew their place.
I released the barrier that separated us from the other half of the library and looked down to the rows of bookshelves. Everything was catching on fire. The flickering of the flames grew larger and more intense as they spread across each row, leaking onto the side I just released.
Off in distance I could see the long legs of the cyclops making his way towards me.
Tsk
I turned around to face the wall and conjured a calligraphy brush. I drew an outline of a door on the wall and it flickered into a bright light. The ink from the drawing dripped slowly as I pocketed the brush in my jeans.

I looked back towards the fiery mess and smirked before jumping into the wall. It was a portal to any of the other places I had marked. And it was just where I needed to be, my dorm room.
I looked at the door way and just then, a white like snow book flew through the portal and landed on my bed.
“What the.”
I waved my down over the wall from my side and the door vanished, leaving nothing but a splotch of ink.
Now then, let’s see what this is
