《I study magic, for destruction?》Chapter 36

“What is your business with me?” I asked the pixie pinned to the back of a book.
“Are you playing ignorant or actually really stupid?” Elisa squeaked.
Tsk.
I flipped the cover that she was on and she made a groaning noise as she hit the floor. I closed the book again and gave the pixie a small smile.
“Ignorant as a child, now go and tell me. I might just be lenient enough to not cut your wings. I’ve had enough tolerance for sneak attacks.”
She welled up something in her chest but instead, let out a sigh.
“The books. Do you remember? You and the three stooges set fire to the bookshelves. Do you really not remember?”
I brought a hand to my chin.
Did I really do that? It sounds like something I would do.
I snapped my fingers into a checkmark when I remembered.
“Ah! Yes, I do remember.”
“And you remember setting the fire to the books, correct? You also are aware that those books can no longer be restored to its former edition?” she said with spite in her voice.
“Hm? And why not?”
“Dragon binding usually cannot be destroyed by simple magic. However, the spell you casted broke the binding somehow and thus removing the magic properties of those books. Burning them into ashes like they never existed.”
I flicked my finger up, levitating the book upwards so she was eye level with me. Though, tiny eyes were still easier on my neck than looking down.
“And how is that my problem?” I asked nonchalantly.
Her face turned red, I swear a tiny bit of steam escaped from the top of her head and ears.
“Because I’m the library Guardian, you dimwit! And whatever is my problem, will surely be the offender's problem as well.”

I looked up, thinking for a moment, How could I forget she was the library guardian? The time user… And that spell from earlier, she could be useful.
“Alright, I acknowledge you as some I could use.” I said, bringing two fingers together.
I parted my finger and thumb, and the spell holding the Pixie disappeared. She fluttered her wings above me, giving me a strange look.
“What are you doing? You had me in the perfect position for you to escape me. Why let me free?”
“Why? Because as strong as your magic is, you cannot defeat me. I have defeated a guardian before, and if you are one to get so enraged that you couldn’t even sense my magic behind you.” I smirked. “Then there is no need to run, is there? So come down here, and let’s have a discussion.”
She rubbed her arms, raising her eyebrows. Eventually she fluttered down. Albeit, a meter away from me.
“What do you want?” she asked with suspicion.
“That spell you flashed earlier, what was that? Light magic?”
“Correct.”
“How does a pixie know Time magic as well as Light magic? For even a Guardian, learning such advanced magic like that is difficult. How did you learn such advanced magic?”
Elisa struggled with answering for a moment, closing her eyes and muttering to herself. After sometime, her shoulders dropped. Digging into her pockets, she brought out a small rectangular item with runes scribbled on it.
“What is this?” I asked, squinting to see what the hell that is.
“Card magic.”
The runes flashed and a flicker of flames flared from the card. I stepped to the side and a fireball shot itself out, scorching the overhang above.
“Card magic? Sigh, I’ve lost interest.” I waved her away and proceeded back to some of the bookshelves.

I could hear rapid fluttering from behind me as followed my steps.
“Wait that’s it? A rare form of magic and all you can say is that you lost interest? You really are an idiot aren’t you.”
Putting my thumb and finger together, I aimed towards her and flicked. A gust of air blowing her out of my vicinity.

Studying more of the books on the fifth floor, I could hear the annoying flutter of wings once more.
“Should I cut your wings instead to make you stop following me?”
“You cut a pixie’s wings and the wrath of the fairy kingdom will be upon you. Do you wish to live your life with a tail tucked between your legs.”
Tsk. Bloody fairies.
Elisa fluttered closer.
“Are you really not interested in this form of magic? Even if you get your hands on an inscribed card, you must still learn the basic knowledge of how to use this.”
I shut my book close, “Why are you so persistent in having me find the source of your magic interesting? I let you free and you still find yourself running towards a person who has no interest in you.”
She started fidgeting with her fingers, until putting her fist in her hand like she came to an amazing conclusion.
“You heard of the festival coming up, yes? The groups are in four’s and I saw you with only three.”
“You saw us?” I asked, “How? You are not in our class.”
“Well, yes. Not in your class, but I am in your year and thus, eligible to join the festival.”
“Sigh, if it would stop your annoyance, I don’t care if you join. I’m only with the others on paper. It cares not if all three of you get eliminated.”
I could hear the fluttering of the wings grow rapid once more. I glazed upwards to see her face with a devious smirk. Whatever she is planning, it won’t do me much harm.
