Two men; one with a red necktie and the other one with a pair of black spectacles leaned against their chairs.
The desk divided them, two mugs of coffee were positioned on the table.
A piece of paper laid on the surface of the table.
The man with the red necktie scanned the content of the paper.
The other man took the mug off the table and sipped it.
“You want 100 mils for your political campaign, right, Mr. Zenoro?” The man with the red necktie raised an eyebrow as he asked him.
“Yes, Mr. Casper. It will help me to get votes for the upcoming election.” Mr. Zenoro responded as he placed the mug on the table.
“What will I get in return?”
“Protection,” Mr. Zenoro responded in a calm tone.
“Hmm? Protection? from whom?”
“Protection from the new superhero initiative,” He continued as his tone changed to a more hostile, “I know you stole money from people with your loan, scams, wage theft, and such. But, with my protection, you’ll be safe. Plus, I need the money for future investment.”
“Is that a threat?” Mr. Casper stared at him.
“No… It’s a bonus,” Mr. Zenoro took another sip of his coffee.
“Heh… Deal.” Casper smiled. They both stood up, shook their hands, and signed the paper.
“Transfering 100mil to Mr. Zerono’s account at Moris Bay.” Mr. Casper handed over the paper to Mr. Zerono.
Unknown to them, a bug on the shoulder of Mr. Zenoro recorded their conversation.
On the other end, a skinny man with an awful body odor named Adion listened to their conversation.
He giggled, “lucky me, the bug I accidentally planted actually gave me a promising lead.”
The warehouse filled his evil laughter.
His mouth let out an awful smell and made the plants on the red pot died.
“Boss, your smell.” Goon 1 said.
“Shut up! We have a job, get Goon 2 here and crafts some explosive, and smoke ones. We’re going to rob a bank” Adion spoke with a high pitch tone.
“Really, boss?” Goon 1 said with a deep tone. He clapped his hands.
“Yes, if we do this right, we’ll be rich, and those top-rate villains won’t make fun of me again.” Adion laughed.
“Yeah, yeah. I listened., Goon 2 responded. She landed on the ground between them, “So? where’s this bank?”
“Hehe…” Adion giggled.
A few days later, on the target bank.
The glass door slammed open.
Adion walked inside the bank.

He threw two small grenades on the floor.
It rolled towards the guards and the civilians.
The grenades popped out reck smells into the air.
The people inside the bank collapsed on the ground.
“Alright, goons, let’s get inside the vault,” Adion said.
Goon 1 placed a C4 charge on the door of the gate.
He walked to a safe distance and pulled the trigger.
The gate exploded, and they went in.
They moved through the stair.
The vault door came into their view.
Goon 2 placed a touchscreen on the vault door.
She clicked on the screen a few times, and then the vault door opened.
A stack of cash was placed on top of each other.
They took out their gas mask and showed their wide-open mouth.
Adion laughed, “We’re rich!”
“Alright, you two go collect them,” Adion ordered them
“Yes, boss,” Goon 1 saluted.
“Yeah, sure,” Goon 2 shrugged.
Goon 2 used a scanner and made the stacks smaller.
Goon 1 collected them and put them inside the black bag.
“Stop, right there, villains.” A woman voice called out to them.
“Aha.. finally, hero, someone worthy of my…,” Adion paused as he looked at the woman, “Who the fuck are you?”
“I’m Cynthia, Th-,” before she could finish.
A sticky goo struck her and stuck her on the wall.
She muffled.
“Sorry, but I don’t know you, and what kind of hero that used their first name? Stupid.”
“Oi boss, we have the money, let’s go,” Goon 2 called him out with an annoyed tone.
“Alright, Alright, Let’s go.”
Goon 1 fell on the ground. “Ahh… wait for me.”
He stood up and ran toward them.
A card slipped from his pocket and dropped to the ground near the vault door.
“See you later,” Adion waved his fingers.
Goon 2 tapped the screen, a portal opened, and they went in. Then, The portal closed.
Cynthia heated the sticky goo and broke free.
She landed on the ground.
Her brows drew closer, and she clicked her teeth.
“Darn that villain, I was going to make my debut, and he ruined it. Arghhhhhhh… I really want to get accepted on the new superhero initiative.” She pulled her hair.
“I better report this to the authority.” Cynthia sighed.
Then, the card caught her attention.
She picked it up, and her teeth showed as she smiled, “Hehe, found you.”
Cynthia took out her phone and contacted her friend, “Hello, can you trace this for me? I’m sending it now.”

She took a photo of the card and sent it to her friend, “Did you see it… Thanks…”
Cynthia looked at her phone, Dwell Curry, the location of the warehouse.
“I owe you one,” She tapped on the hang-up button. “Now, you’re dead!”
On the other side, news about the bank robbery reached Mr. Casper and Mr. Zenoro.
The door slammed open.
Mr. Zenoro rushed inside the office and pointed his index finger at Mr. Casper.
“Do you have any idea, what this means! And how the fuck did they know it?” Mr. Zenoro yelled.
“I-I don’t know.” Mr. Casper fidgeted.
“Don’t know? Don’t know! If the public finds out about the money. We’re screwed.”
“They won’t.”
“How you be so sure?”
“Because they think that money belongs to the bank. Rather than belong to you.”
“But, if an unknown hero or the authority found it. They will launch an investigation about the money. Then, The. Public. Find. Out.” Mr. Zerono walked closer to Mr. Casper, threaten him with every step he made.
“Don’t worry, I’ve someone that can help us.”
“As long as they can do it quietly and proficiently, I don’t mind, but if they failed… you know what’s going to happen.”
“Y-Yes, I know,” Mr. Casper used the phone office. He dialed the number. “Hello, I got a job for you.”
At the warehouse, Adion and his goons placed the bags on the table.
“Haha, we’re rich. Hey, Goon 2, you must be very happy, right? To have this much money,” Adion waved the money in front of Goon 2.
“Uh-huh.” Goon 2 jumped onto the first desk and laid on her bed.
“Hey! I’m still talking here,” Adion shouted.
“I don’t care, now, please give me my 60% cut.”
“60%! Fuck you, I’m the one that got the lead.”
“And it was my equipment that you used to find the lead and so 60% cut, or I can just report to the authority?”
Adion sighed and looked at Goon 1, “What are you looking at?”
“N-nothing,” Goon 2 responded with his voice fidgeted.
“Hello, Loser,” A man spoke.
They turned their attention toward his voice.
“S-Spectrum? W-What are you doing here?” Adion left foot stepped backward.
“I receive a job. You’ve been busy.” He walked slowly toward them.
“Y-Yeah, see here, I’m a top-rate villain now. Hahaha.”
“Yes, yes, but…,” he tilted his head and glared at him, “I’m afraid… I have to take that from you.”
Adion clenched his fist, “Oho? You think you can take this from me?”
“Yes, yes I-,” Before he could finish his sentence.
A fireball struck him, and a portal opened.
The fireball pushed him into the portal, and it closed.
“How, do you- wait, he’s not the guy who goo me.” She placed her index finger on her lips.
“What are you rambling about?” Adion pointed at her.
Her eyes widened, “Aha… found you.”
“Tch, if you want to be a hero then please died like one.” Adion tried to fire his goo gun.
The gun didn’t fire. “What the?”
“Boss, I forget to tell you that there’s only one round,” Goon 1 told him.
“Why?”
“Because I sold it for my PS4.” Goon 2 spoke.
“What?”
“Okay, hero, I surrender.” Goon 2 landed on the ground and put her hand in the air.
“W-,”
“Me too,” Goon 1 raised his hands.
“You too?”
“Okay, what’s going on?” Cynthia looked at them with a puzzled expression.
“He’s a low-rate villain, his power is super smell.”
“You don’t have to talk shit about.”
“Yes, I have too…” Goon 2 said with no sugarcoating.
“Plus, you managed to defeat Spectre, who is a well-known villain in our community, and that’s why I don’t want to fight you.”
“Oh, Great, this… made my job easy.., right?” Cynthia chimed in.
“Uh-huh…” Goon 2 told her.
“Oh yeah? Well, I’m not going without a fight. Eat this!” Adion released a reck breath at Cynthia.
“You fool!” Goon 2 raised her eyebrows as she looked at Adion.
Cynthia with a plain expression; threw a fireball at the gas, and it caught fire.
It went straight toward Adion and his goons and burned them.
They lost consciousness.
“Heh… idiot…,” She handcuffed them and contacted the authority.
The authority came and detained Adion and his goons.
They also found the recording between Mr. Casper and Mr. Zenoro.
The authority raided their house.
They managed to detain Mr. Casper, but Mr. Zenoro fled the country before they could get him.
Mr. Casper stood trial. Cynthia became a public hero, and as for Adion, he served 10-years of jail time.
Adion heard the news and asked himself, “What the fuck just happen.”

The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
