Chapter 1
A man waited for the walking signal to go green. He was quite doubtful about his life choice. All this time he had been slacking off to his family including other people. He played video games, reading light novels and manga all his life and now with nowhere left to go and no work. The man was in a state of chaos, overthinking on how to solve this problem.
His name was Edith, 25 years old, no occupation, and homeless. His black hair was messy, his breath and body odour were stinky, and people who smell it would get far away from him. Not only that, he was shirtless, people would say he’s crazy but deep down he’s not. He only depressed about his situation.
The people around him began to move but he didn’t. Edith waited there for a while before walking. Then he heard someone shouted at him.
“Look out!” The man yelled and time pause.
Edith looked at the man who was dressed in a suit. His eyes were wide, jaws dropped and the people next to him and behind him, closed their eyes, others sprinted toward him, some looked away. Then, the time resumed, and a loud horn echoed behind him.
Edith, with his eyes wide, eyebrows raised, and lips shut closed, turned around and in front of him. A truck swallowed his view. Then, the truck hit his body.
His bones broke, his skin tore open, blood spilt everywhere, and his body went up to the air before crashing down on the hard black pavement of the road.
“Someone got hit! Call the ambulance!” The man with the suit yelled.
“G-Got it!” an onlooker took out his phone.
“Is he going to survive?” a woman voiced her question.
“L-Look at his wounds.” a woman stumbled with her words.

“Mommy, mommy that man go shoosh to the air and bam on the road, can he do it again?” a child asked his mother.
Edith tried to breathe, but the more he breath, the slower it got. His heartbeat began dropping, and his vision was deteriorating. Then, his vision became dark. The voices from the crowd became inaudible.
Edith in his last breath shouted these words inside his head. Give me a second chance!
His field of view was filled with pale white light. Then, as the light subsided, three being seated on their chair, they were on top of a cloud. The one on the left, had a black hood on and had no face, the one on the right was a being with elegant beauty and life, but the one in the middle had a stern expression.
Edith has his eyes scanned his surroundings. There were multiple people, some were old, others were young and some of them were close to his age.
“What’s going on?” A lady who was dressing in an elegant white gown stepped forward and asked the three beings. She had short hair and had a stern expression.
“We will get to that shortly but first, let me welcome you to our realm,” The black hood being welcomed us.

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes

Adelaide
The entries here are transcribed from the log of Marie Ruiz, first mate of the Adelaide. It was definitely, definitely not published without her permission or knowledge by a certain lovable artificial intelligence for the purpose of sharing it with my AI friends on other ships who follow it like a soap opera. No way, no how. Remember guys, don’t go spreading this around too much. Only pass it on to those you can trust. God forbid this should ever end up on a public network… (Adelaide is a science fiction web serial featuring the adventures of a crew of smugglers. In space. It’s on the softer end of the soft/hard sci-fi spectrum because the author got a C in physics. Updates every other Sunday.)
