《God Particles》Chapter 0

What is the most sincere feeling that human has? It is fear. Fear will always tell you whether you should fight or flight. Fear was the reason that we continued to make more and more fire during our early stages of evolution as intelligent creatures. Fire gave us light, light drove away beasts in the darkness, And even if the feeling of safety was brief, it was satisfying nonetheless. Then we made houses to keep the dangerous beasts away from us. They gave us feeling of safety that lasts as long as we remain in the house, therefore giving us comfort of being safe. But what if the fire will extinguish and the house will crumble down? That is when feeling of safety disappears and with it comes fear.
BAM!
One of the big pillars that supported the barriers crumbled down. The citizens looked at the tragedy and slowly, but surely they understood that only thing that would keep them safe were lights. But unfortunately, they went out. It was night now. That means that only 1 type of creatures would attack at this time, The Nightstalkers. Enormous creatures that were almost 10 feet in height, standing above any human in the city. They could open the mouths so much, that they could easily swallow an adult man's head. Their dark grey skin made them almost invisible in light. Their claws could tear apart almost anything that wasn't a hard metal and let them crawl even better than spiders. One such creature was standing right in the middle of the bloody room.
It already ate a young male, but it was still hungry. Complete absence of eyesight and smell was a pretty big minus, but the evolution gave it a different ability. Echolocation.
*CLICKCLICKCLICKCLICKCLICK*
The sound waves escaped from its mouth and hit every single object in the room. Broken furniture and glass, torn curtains, a deformed corpse, but no sign of human. It checked the whole room again and heard a little difference in the bedroom, small difference under the bed. It was clear that new prey was hiding under there. Nightstalker rushed inside the bedroom and flipped the bed, to reveal a women holding her child and crying. Nightstalkers weren't sapient creatures, they were predators, so they did not understand human emotions. Without holding back, it raised its right claw, ready to pierce the woman. Unfortunately for him, the room was illuminated with purple light from the window.

*KRYAAAAAAAAAAAAH*
The nightstalker screamed as his dark grey skin started glowing in red color and covering in blisters. It tried to run away from the bedroom, but a sharp knife entered its spine, rendering him helpless as he fell down. The window was broken and from it, young woman entered the room. Because of the ultraviolet light, the Nightstalker was slowly "burning" now. The woman crouched next to the mother and son.
"Are you alright miss? Did it hurt you in anyway?" Unlike her appearance, she had a pretty gruff voice. Other than that she looked like a beautiful girl. Short, white hair with grey eyes and pale skin. Her figure was muscular, but feminine nonetheless.
"N-No. B-But my husband is..." Mother started crying as soon as she mentioned her husband. She couldn't do anything, her ability was to weak and completely unusable for combat.
The girl stood up and walked towards already "Cooked" creature. She pulled out her knife and then looked at the corpse. It already started dissolving, that means that she was late to collect samples. The door to her right broke down, but she wasn't surprised.
"Chris, go and take that woman and her child. They might have some minor injuries so treat them. Afterwards take them to the the boss. We need information about attack and they might know something." She adressed to a middle-aged man in soldier clothes. It was funny how such a young woman was in the lead of a squad that consisted of skilled soldiers.
"Yes, Ma'am!" Chris said without asking any questions. "We have information that squad 4-1 found something interesting east from here, in front of the casino. They asked you to be there, seems they found something dangerous."
The girl just nodded and jumped out of window. Her ability "Agility Mode" let her boost her agility, however the time she was in this Mode was limited. Mainly because having it activated for more than an hour caused her muscles to ache and tear apart.
I still have 20 more minutes. Hope there's nothing troublesome at casino.
After 5 minutes of running and jumping, she finally arrived there, only to witness a terrible scene. The corpses of Nightstalkers thrown around and torn apart. There were at least 5 dozen of their corpses here. But the most bizarre part was the state that these corpses were in. They didn't have blisters or red skin. That means that they were killed without the help of UV light. Only rank B and above ability users could do this. But she knew that there were only D and C ranks here. And then she remembered that the squad 4-1 was somewhere around here.

She started looking around the corpses. She was afraid that she would find squad 4-1 somewhere in between the flesh and bones, but she was wrong. The squad 4-1 was laying down in front of the casino entrance. She dashed towards them and discovered that their bodies were in good condition. She quickly checked the pulse of all 11 soldiers. All of them were alive.
"What the fu-"
Before she could finish the sentence, she heard crashing noise from above. Nightstalker was falling from 15th floor of casino. She prepared to fight, but soon realized that the creature was falling limp. It fell right on the statue of man holding a sword in front of the casino. The sword impaled the body of the nightstalker and it remained there. Soon another crashing noise, and another falling nightstalker, and another, and another.
After a dozen of falling nightstalkers, different figure jumped from one of the windows. She was sure that the source of the massacre was that creature, so she prepared for combat by pulling her throwing knives out.
A few meters in front of her fell a creature, completely covered in black mist. Its figure completely looked like a human one. Its height was at least 6 feet and it didn't look muscular at all. On its head, there was some sort of waving mass, maybe that was its hair. But most notable feature of it was its face. It didn't have nose or ears, but its face wasn't empty either. 2 white eyes and white teeth were shining in the darkness that was its whole body.
"Just what in the actual fuck are you?" She asked quietly as her hands started shaking. She didn't notice it before, but now she was sure. She was completely terrified of this creature.
"I wonder... Hehe, looks like your bladder isn't exactly strong." Creature said as it pointed at the crotch of the girl. She looked down and saw that her pants were wet. She couldn't comprehend why she was so afraid of this creature. And it could talk too.
"Now listen here, little girl. I killed so many of these motherfuckers that your goverment should pay me instead of these sleeping princesses. I don't care if you tell anyone about me, but remember 1 thing. The war between you guys and Homo Novus is inevitable, so you better be prepared for it. Pass this message to your goverment, m'kay?" Smooch. The creature kissed her cheek as bullet struck its head, piercing it and coming from another side. She looked at the laying creature. It was already bleeding and the bullet must've hit its brain so it was dead. From behind, she heard footsteps. She looked behind her and saw a little girl holding some kind of rifle. She had dark red hair and brown eyes, she couldn't be any more than 14 years old.
"Tania, Rank B Ability User. What's your name?" She asked with a smile on her face.
"M-M-Mary. Level C Ability User."
"Okay Mary. Now tell me, who is this... guy?" She asked in surprised tone as she looked at the corpse. Mary looked back at the corpse too, only to find a nothing but small writing in blood.
Don't forget to tell your goverment my message xoxo
"What was that thing?"

Ripped from his old life and even his body, Jack Hearth must now decide what needs to be done to protect those he has claimed as his own. Not all is as it seems though. Those in power do not approve of his quest and will seek to bring ruin to his efforts. This is my very first work, so I ask for understanding should I make a mistake. This story is not on of those stories where the MC gains power and immediately decides to use it for violence. While those types of stories are fun, this isn't one of those. I will average betweern 1k-2k words per chapter for the foreseeable future. Please leave a comment below to let me know how I am doing.
