《Fenrir Rising》Last Resort

Mortas continues his battle with the wyvern. Being an elemental type mage gives him the advantage in a fight against an opponent that can only use fire. However, since the wyvern is flying in the air Mortas has to resort to long-ranged attacks. By combining wind and water he creates ice crystals which he molds into spears and shoots them at the enemy. This has caused him to lose a good portion of his energy and he has not been able to hit it yet. 'When fighting a monster that has an advantage in the air the best option is to make it a close-range fight. That is easier said than done. There must be a way to get it to land.'
"Elenor, we need to make this a close-ranged battle. It won't land by itself, we need to coordinate our attacks and focus on hitting its wings so it can't fly."
"Alright, just tell me what I need to do."
'Elenor is a nature mage. Which means she focuses on healing spells and mid-ranged attacks. She can manipulate the surrounding trees, maybe that's how we can slow it down.'
"I need you to capture it when it comes close enough for another attack. Can you use the trees around us to capture it?"
"I can try."
"Good, because we may only have one shot at this. If you miss it's likely that it will try to keep its distance from us."
The wyvern is prepared for another fury of ice crystals coming its way. When it discovers that Mortas has no plans of attacking it anymore it rushes in again. This time the wyvern builds up speed with a nosedive, and heads straight for them preparing to attack them at a closer range. When the wyvern is in range, Elenor uses her magic to manipulate the trees making the branches and roots form into a web at the last second, making sure it doesn't have time to dodge.
The wyvern gets tangled up in the web of trees, as soon as Mortas sees this he wastes no time in attacking it, putting a hand up to conjure the ice and aiming for its wings. The ice punctures the wings of the beast and it lets out a blood-curdling screech. After making the beast immobile Mortas aims for the killing blow with a final attack. The ice crystals hit the beast in its chest, with blood spattering out of its wounds it quickly goes limp and dies.
Exhausted from the fight, Mortas takes a moment to catch his breath. "Any longer and this could have turned out bad for us. Luckily it made a mistake by flying in too close."
"Are you alright?" Elenor asks. "Looks like you pushed yourself a little too much."
"I'm fine. Right now we need to focus on everyone else." Mortas looks around the camp to see that the goblins are nowhere to be seen. "We need to heal the injured and make sure the wolves are alright."
Gabriel runs up to Mortas after seeing that the fight is over to tell him the bad news. "Sir, two of the wolves are uncounted for. We have no idea where they are."
"WHAT? How could you lose them? I told you to keep them safe."
"Two of them went off by themselves before the attack even began. I'm afraid the Fenrir and Luna might have been taken by the goblins."
Due to Mortas's experience of leading groups like this, he does not hesitate to come up with a plan. "Our first priority is to keep these wolves safe from harm. We have ventured too close to the Dark Territory and can't risk the endangerment of the last wolf here. Therefore, I want the rest of you to escort Skoll out of here and head to the capital. As for me, I will stay behind and find the other two."

Elenor interjects. "You can't stay behind by yourself, you are too exhausted from your fight."
"That's an order. We need to make sure Skoll gets back to the capital at any cost. The other two wolves might already be dead for all we know and I will not take any chances that might cost Skoll his life. We also lost half of our soldiers, we can't afford to lose anymore.
Knowing that Mortas outranks them, Elenor and Gabriel have no choice but to obey the orders. A soldier comes running up to Mortas. "Sir, I saw what happened to the wolves. The goblins dragged the white one into the forest and the other one chased after her." He says as he points a direction.
"Alright, I'll go after them. The rest of you need to head out and head to the capital as quickly as you can. We can't afford to have any more casualties." After saying that, Mortas heads off into the direction the soldier pointed too.
....
Back at the cave, Fenrir walks closer to the sounds he is hearing. He can now make out distinct voices. "Our boys got a decent haul over these last few days." A voice says. "After losing so many of my goblins it's time to replenish my army."
Fenrir gets close enough to see what's happening. In a large cavern, he sees a small army of goblins as well as an Orc that stands over seven feet tall. 'That must have been the voice I was hearing, he must be the leader.'
Inspecting the cavern more closely Fenrir spots something horrifying. A pile of mangled rotting corpses lying at the edge of the cavern, as well as a dozen or so naked women in cages looking like they have been tortured and kept here for a while. 'What's going on here? What are they going to do with them?'.
He sees Luna tied up in front of the Orc looking down at her smiling. "A little too young I see. But I don't think the goblins will mind."
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH ME TOU SICK BASTARD," Luna yells at him.
"I'm not going to do anything. You see, goblins don't have any females in their ranks. They procreate by breeding with other females of different species, and like I said before I lost a lot of good soldiers today and I need to grow my army. You might not be able to produce any children yet, but I doubt that they won't try to have their way with you. For now, we will just keep you alive until you can. The other women here have been producing young goblins for us for a while now."
Fenrir couldn't believe what he was hearing. 'This is fucked up on so many levels. If I don't save her, she is going to be tortured. But there are too many for me to take on. There must be at least fifty goblins here, and that orc is going to be a problem as well.'
"Goblins aren't the smartest creatures, but they do have a hierarchy that they follow and it keeps them organized." The orc says. "However, with me leading them we can accomplish more. That wyvern that attacked the camp gave us the right opportunity to attack, but we didn't expect them to be so strong. Being defeated like this makes them want to play with their toys even more. Go on boys, have some fun just make sure not to kill her."

What Fenrir feared the most came to pass. As the goblins circled around Luna he knew what was going to happen. He grips his sword tightly in his hand, as he watches them tear her clothes off and start to have their way with her. Knowing that trying to attack them will only get him killed, all he can do is watch as she screams. 'Why am I so weak? Things like this aren't supposed to happen. I can't just sit here and do nothing, but at the same time, I would only get myself killed trying to save her from being raped.' Fenrir covers his ears and shuts his eyes not being able to bear the sight of this anymore.
Luna continues to scream so loud that Fenrir can't stand it anymore. 'I have to do something, but I'm too weak to help her. No, I need to help her, I promised that I would even if it costs me my life.' As Fenrir opens his eyes a surge of energy flows through his body like a raging fire. Seeing what they are doing to Luna angers him even more, and out of that anger, he is able to draw more energy out. Fire forms, engulfing his body in a blanket of fire born from pure rage. 'This is it. This is the power I need to save her. I feel like I could do anything with this power.'
Fenrir reveals himself by standing out in the open only to see that the orc and goblins have already noticed his presence. 'I guess they sensed the aura coming from my body. It doesn't matter, now I have the strength to defeat them.' Holding up his right hand he focuses on the shape he wants the first to take. A ball of fire forms in his hand and he shoots it at the orc, not wasting any time he charges at the goblins with blinding speed. The energy around his body has increased his physical abilities to the point that he reaches the goblins just as the fireball reaches the orc.
With one strike Fenrir sends five goblins flying away killing them instantly. The fireball that he sent at the orc is blown away with a swing of rhe orcs giant club. This distracts Fenrir as he thought that would have killed him. Taking advantage of this situation the goblins rush in quick to attack, a goblin runs his sword through Fenrir's back and drives the sword in him as far as it can go. Fenrir starts coughing up blood, he grabs the tip of the sword thst made its way through to his stomach and breaks it off. He sends the goblin holding the sword from behind him flying away and pulls the rest of the sword out.
'Despite that wound, I still feel great, In fact, I've never felt better. At this point I feel unstoppable.' Then something happens. In an instant, the energy surrounding him dissipates and he falls to the ground not being able to move.
"And here I thought we were in trouble." The orc taunts him. "It seems like you used up all your energy, that fireball wasn't bad but it still was weak. You must be here to save her, but now it looks like your just going to end up being food for my goblins."
Fenrir looks at Luna and tries to speak. "I'm sorry I cou....couldnt save you?" He says as he extends his hand towards her.
Luna is lying on the ground completely naked and barely able to move as well. "It's ok, I knew you would try to save me, and that's what's important."
The light starts fading from Fenrir's vision as he bleeds to death. 'How can she say that? She can't be ok with this. Even in this situation, she is still looking out for me, trying to tell me that everything is ok. This time it isn't, she was always there for Skoll and I when we needed her the most, even now in her state what's she's been through, she is still thinking about me instead of herself. I failed her, I failed myself for not protecting her. She doesn't deserve this, she doesn't deserve to be tortured and die in a place like this. I guess it doesn't matter anymore, there is nothing else that I can do.'
The light of his vision fades away as Fenrir slowly approaches death. His eyes shut and he waits for the external darkness that will ensue. However, he is able to open his eyes again and finds himself in a different and strange place. It's dark but there are ribbons of magical energy surrounding him. 'This must be what Gabriel was talking about. I might still have a chance to save Luna.'
As Fenrir looks around he notices a glowing purple ribbon right next to his left hand. 'I can feel it calling to me, like it wants me to grab it. The energy coming from it feels immense.'
Fenrir reaches out and grabs it, everything around him turns into complete darkness except for a pair of red eyes that now stare at him. A disembodied voice speaks to him. "I finally found someone worthy of my power. You are in desperate need of power, aren't you?"
"Who are you?"
"There is no time for such questions. I can sense that you are on the brink of death. Do you want to live, or do you want to die?"
"I want to live. I want to save those who I care about, and to do that I need more power."
"I'll give you my power on one condition. I want to see how well your body can handle my power. That's one of the reasons I decided to seek you out because I believe you can handle it. To test it out I need to take control of your body for a little while, I just need you to agree to this."
Fenrir thinks about his outrageous deal. 'It's not like I have a choice here. I don't know if I have enough time to pick another ribbon, and I don't know if the one I pick would be strong enough. This one seems like the real deal, I would definitely be able to save Luna, but at what cost. There is no time to think about that now, I need to do this.' "Fine, I agree."
"Excellent."
