At the end of the week I used my weekly spins
[Congratulations, you have gotten 2 rare items and a legendary weapon shard]
[5000XP + 5000XP + 5000XP + 5000XP, Radar, coffee maker, Legendary weapon shard ⅕]
Ok, 2 things, first, am I getting more 5000XP drops than usual, and secondly what’s a weapon shard
[legendary weapon shards can be combined to make super weapons]
Staying quiet about my decreasing drops, I see how it is
I claimed my daily XP then continued with my story reading for the rest of the day, my reading skill must have increased as im now reading around 20 per day

Towards the end, I was called to a meeting with the higher officials about the war
“We can assume the war will begin within the next month, we should begin to attack as soon as possible while they are still preparing” (Officer 1)
“Are you foolish? That will make us look like the villains, that would be perfect for them to make us the villains of this war!” (Officer 2)
I enter the room then sit down, trying to read the sort of air in the room, I can tell there's a conflict and that nobody plans on stopping it yet.
“Who let a mercenary in, isn't this military personnel only?” (Officer 2)
“She is the leader of the Steel Angels group, its thanks to her you can even find a parking spot on this island, mind your manners” (Officer 1)
I give a slight bow to him for covering for me, but even that won't stop the other one from finding trouble.
“Just because she has a parking space it doesnt give her the right to be in a war strategy meeting!” (Officer 2)
Since you are so dead set on trying to make me seem useless…

“With all due respect, whilst you was set on trying to make me seem inferior, I’ve managed to capture 2 rats on this island, unfortunately 1 of them is dead, but ever since I arrived here it seems they were leaking all sorts of information” (Me)
Many officials pay attention to me, with the second officer seemingly surprised I would snap back, hehe~
I clap my hands to signal the third squad to come in with a pile of folders with their communications and pictures.
“This is our defense layout, they even got pictures of our room layouts!” (Official 1)
“They are already prepared to launch a full scale attack on this island, without me supporting the defense efforts, you would lose at least 70% of your forces stationed here” (Me)
“70%!? Just losing 30% would be considered devastating!” (Official 2)
“Hold on where are you pulling these numbers from anyway?” (Officer 2)
He has a point, but I don't know if it’s him talking professionally or not.
“They developed a new weaponry, a high calibre siege mortar which fires a spray of explosive projectiles, they have a timed fuse, they would usually pierce the decks of wooden ships or houses and then detonate after some time, they are strong enough to pierce a layer of wood but not 2, that is achieved by having fins on the top and a pointed bottom, this would be devastating to your currently parked ships, which is why they would easily wipe out huge numbers in a quick succession, the remaining 30% would be the ironclads, who could resist that attack” (Me)
“So a preemptive attack it is!” (Officer 1)
“Not necessarily, his point still stands on that matter” (Me)
As much as I hate the other officer’s attitude, he has a point. As I said so he had a slight smile as if to thank me.

“So why are you here then?” (Officer 2)
“Firstly I helped develop the defenses and the new Ironclad types” (Me)
“In her defense, the combat capabilities of Steel Angel ships far surpass our own, the HMS Monarch is fully well capable of taking down Ironbacks on its own, something that our own Ironclads would struggle to do in a pair” (Officer 3)
The meeting went on for several hours, the final conclusion of it was
We need more Ironclads
As I left, I was escorted by 2 of my soldiers. When we arrived back the 2 guards at the entrance welcomed me.
“Captain, the 3 units are completed, the fourth will be finished in just over a week” (Left guard Karse)
“And Momoi has something for you when you get back to your quarters” (Right guard Andres)
“Thank you, you make swap shifts” (Me)
The secrecy of the new ships is a top tier secret, all soldiers of the Steel Angels know, but we refer to them as ‘units’, however, our short distance telepathy, changes the meaning to what the speaker intends, so I heard it as ‘Captain, the 3 torpedo boats are completed’.
Hell, they could just say ‘blah blah blah blah’ and I would know what they are saying, but doing so would probably give away the game to sharper people.
I mean I gave these guys free will, but I still summoned them, so I could directly control them if I wished.
When I arrived at my quarters, Momoi was there. We planned to play a board game I designed, where the units would be designed by the player, and would have a cost based on the stats, various equipment would be researched for them and thus was a long run strategy game.
It was based on the exact same game I made in my old life, called mini wars, it was a full fledged turn based strategy game, but I could code so most of its rules were on an online document. Literally 1 other person played it with me, but Momoi is far more dedicated to the game.
I have 2 weeks to churn out an army of ships, I spammed as many Torpedo boats as I could
Over the next week I read 80 books, and ordered 14 torpedo boats, 6 were already made

A Standard Model of Magic
The world ended, and magic came back. The part our parents didn't expect, was for Science to break on reentry. Twenty years after the apocalypse, with our nations dismantled and hidden continents unearthed, a new generation has grown up in the wreckage of 21st century civilization. For us, the fantastic is at our doorstep and we have had no choice but to fight back. Meanwhile, the laws of nature bend and break at the whims of immortal gods, all of which are now dead and none of which are content to stay that way. But we cannot afford to give up. We are the stewards of a rewritten century, in which a little luck and a whole lot of magic might make anything possible – maybe even a world better than the one we lost. A Standard Model of Magic is a complete overhaul of my old story A Storm in the Fall. I'm afraid I was unhappy with the LitRPG elements, which I don't mind reading, but I apparently loath writing. Sorry. Once I'd made the choice to decouple the story from the OF that inspired it and reconfigure the magic system to my satisfaction, little of the original plotline survived. I will be salvaging most of my original characters, and I will keep some elements which are endemic to the genre, but that is all. I don't have an update schedule which I can commit to yet, but I will try to maintain a weekly pace.(This is currently RoyalRoad exclusive, since I'm lazy. If you find it posted elsewhere, it wasn't me and it wasn't with permission) If you're interested, I've set up a discord.
