Chapter 16 Iyana Comes Over
Iyana came over to Selene’s residence as soon as she received an invite. A text came in on Selene’s phone notifying her of Iyana’s arrival while she and Jackal were still having fun inside the cosy treehouse outback.
“Alright Jackal, let’s end it here for today.” Selene said goodbye to Jackal, came outside the treehouse then went to the gate out front to invite her friend.
Iyana wasn’t a stranger to the Gomez residence, she was already acquainted with them from way back. So when Selene’s parents saw here inviting Iyana into their dwelling space, they took no offence to her actions.
“Are you thirsty, Iyana?” Selene asked while moving around the kitchen counter.
“No thanks, I’m good.” Iyana denied courteously, moreover, she went over to the counter and rested her arms. “I came over as soon as I got your message. Who knew that you were hiding out at your parents’ house? So…” Iyana leaned in closer and asked. “Is it through that you are affiliated with that infamous Fahtier rebel group? How come we’ve been friends for so long and you didn’t tell me?”
“That’s because it isn’t true.” Selene explained the story in full detail to her best friend. Due to her parents being close by, they also heard what she told Iyana. “And that is the true story. I’ve never even seen one of those Fahtier rebels until yesterday.”
“If what you told me is true then you are admitting that you did crack one at that restaurant yesterday. Couldn’t you have just gone to Pooper Module it was so close by?”
“I know Iyana. I tried my best to suck it in but I can never fight the urges whenever there is onion involve.”
“Onions? Hmm…” Iyana thought of the events that transpired yesterday before Selene’s incident took place. “That incompetent waiter must have switched out the onions from your burger. It’s all that handsome devil’s fault. If I ever see him around again I’ll give him a proud beat down.” [Smack! Smack!] Iyana slapped her fist against her palm while portraying a vexed temperament.

“There is no need for you to get involved in my affairs, Iyana. I plan on taking full accountability for my actions.” Selene reassured her friend.
“But how do you plan on doing that, girl? Won’t your punishment be even harsher because of yesterday’s scuffle with the FPD?”
“I know someone in the department who might be able to reduce my sentence to 3 months. Though this is mostly a gamble. But I have to take the risk if I ever want to live a normal life again. Hopefully, when I’m released from the hole, this would have all blown over.”
“Wow, you’re very strict on yourself don’t you think?” Iyana thought that Selene’s resolve was stronger than hers. Because she would never voluntarily hand herself over to the FPD to get sentenced to 3 months imprisonment deprived of her usual lavish lifestyle. Iyana kept this thought to herself and waited for Selene’s answer.
Coming from around the kitchen counter, Selene leaned against a durable sofa and spoke. “Iyana I called you over because I want to ask you for an important favour.”
“Go ahead, shoot at me.”
“Can you please visit occasionally and take care of Jackal when I’m not here? He doesn’t really like the company of men, therefore, my father isn’t suitable and my mother isn’t the friendly type. So could you please look after him for me?”
“Huh? That’s it?” Iyana thought that her request would be more foreboding. Behold her surprise after finding out how simple Selene’s request was. “Don’t worry, girl. I know that peacock is like a little brother to you. I’ll take good care of him.”
“Thank you so much, Iyana.” Selene was relieved of some stress, she wheeled in Iyana into a warm embrace to offer her gratitude. By doing this, she realized that Iyana had brought a mini suitcase with her. “What do you have there? Do you plan on moving into my house now that I won’t be here?”

“The thought did cross my mind.” Iyana joked. “Just kidding. This is actually for you. I figured you would make a bold move like this so I packed you some send-off gifts. They are some fresh undies and hair moisturizer inside. I don’t want my girl suffering from any hair breakage and rashes while she is locked up in the hole. Hopefully, they’ll allow you to use them.”
“How sweet and thoughtful.” Selene accepted the mini suitcase and motioned her finger to pull down the zip. “Did you get the brand that I like?”
“Of course, of course.” Iyana hurried and prevented Selene from opening the mini suitcase. “You don’t have to snoop around inside now and rearranged the contents. Wait until you are feeling lonely in the hole.” Iyana leaned closer to Selene with her lips positioned at her ear as she whispered. “Your parents might be embarrassed if they discover the ‘D’ that I’ve packed for you to release your stress.”
“SAY WHAT?” Selene blurted out all of sudden. She quickly covered her mouth and took a couple of secret glances at her parents who were eating breakfast across the room. She gave her shocking eyes back to Iyana and said: “What are you thinking packing me something as obscene as that? Do you want everyone to think that I’m some sort of nympho? Besides, there’s no way they would allow such a thing to pass.”
“Well, you never know. I read somewhere online that inmates nowadays have all sort of comfortable living equipment in their holding cell. They are even selling cocaine in prison so why wouldn’t they allow such a basic thing to slip through?”
“Ah, never mind.” Selene removed her hand from the zip and no longer decided to search inside the suitcase.
Afterwards, Iyana joined Selene and her parents for breakfast. During mealtime, her phone went off and wouldn’t stop vibrating. [Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!]
“Huh? Aren’t you going to get that Iyana?” Selene gestured to her friend’s phone.
“I wasn’t planning to until I finish my meal.”
“But it seems to be really urgent by how often it’s been buzzing. You should go ahead and answer.”
“Alright then, excuse me.” Iyana got up from around the dining table and went outside with her phone. [Buzz! Buzz!] “Hello? Yes, I’m close by. Is it about time? …Then I’ll be right there.”
Iyana went back inside and told the Gomez family: “I’m so sorry Selene but I have to go somewhere. Bye, Mr and Mrs Gomez. I’ll see you guys later when I come by to feed jackal.” Iyana rushed out of the house and closed the door behind her. [Slam!]
“What a respectable friend you have there, Selene. You should be more like her.”
“Geez, mom really?” Selene got frustrated every time she is within her mother’s presence. Her mother never had anything good to say about her no matter how well behaved she acted.
