Chapter 26 CN7 News Crew
“Let’s go. We need to hurry and evacuate to the sealed floors below before the poison gas arrives at our doorstep.” Detective Myers ran to inform Lieutenant Fain that the Fart Mutant which plagued the department was no more.
“What happened out there, Myers?” Lieutenant Fain enquired while hastily packing her combat gear to evacuate her office.
“Lieutenant, the monster was defeated by Hizen. Also he…” Detective Myers wanted to inform Lieutenant Fain that during his rampage officer Hizen also massacred officer Tongue in cold blood, but he held his mouth back after he thought about the broader view of their situation. “Anyway, we have to go now. The gas almost reaches our building.”
“Alright let get moving.” Lieutenant Fain assented.
“Hm!” Detective Myers noticed Selene’s unconscious body resting on a long sofa in the corner and asked. “What about that girl, are we just going to leave her here to die?”
“No, I’m thinking of taking her with me. Letting her die here in her sleep would be too easy of a punishment. You two.” Lieutenant Fain pointed at the officers who she had rescued earlier. “Take her.”
“Yes, Lieutenant Fain.” The men went ahead and lifted Selene by her limbs. Even though they hated her and wanted her to suffer in the worst possible way, they listened to Lieutenant Fain’s orders and carried Selene unconscious corpse to safety with them.
“Move! Move! Move!” They escaped the 14th floor before the spreading gas outside could seep through the large orifice in the glass that Warlord Hizen had kicked the Fart Mutant through. [Din!] When the elevator came to a halt on the ground level, Lieutenant Fain, Detective Myers along with the other officers carrying Selene’s body stepped out.
“These people…?” They were startled by how densely populated the station was. Terrified people were everywhere, some leaning against the columns, laying on the floor, resting on the escalators, etc. The ground floor was jam-packed with scared individuals and more was even pouring in through the front entrance.
The FPD officers outside were rescuing as many civilians they could from the rampaging Fart Mutants. Very soon they wouldn’t have anywhere to bring the rescued civilians. Moreover, due to the vast amount of people situated in that area, the horde of Fart Mutants was rampaging towards the station. It was only a matter of time before the station collapse from the brutal onslaught of the marauding beasts swarming around outside. Not only that, if by chance some of the gas were to slip inside the building then that would be the end of their miserable existence as improper humans.

Lieutenant Fain being aware of the current crisis came forward and instructed the officers at the entrance. “Call back all the officers who are outside and seal the doors! Grab whatever material you can to stuff the small openings. Make sure not a breath of that contagious gas seeps in!”
“Yes, Lieutenant Fain!” The officer carried out their given task with swift precision under the command of their fearsome Lieutenant. The officers positioned at the entrance told the others outside to seek shelter inside the station immediately, of course, some civilians were left behind, and they had to seek shelter elsewhere. Once all of the station’s doors were shut, the officers began stuffing the tiny gaps with cotton material. Some of the civilians inside took notice of what they were doing and volunteered to help. They began ripping off their superfluous clothing to secure the gaps and apertures where the gas might potentially seep through.
While everyone was busy trying to secure their survival, officer Hizen just stepped out of an elevator with his prodigy tagging behind him. He quickly assessed the situation around him. In doing so, he noticed two officers close by placing Selene’s body on a bench and went over.
“Hey, you two. What are doing with that woman?”
“Huh?” The officers looked behind them and saw Hizen approaching with a brutal swagger to his mien. They explained: “Hizen, it was Lieutenant Fain’s orders. She wants this lady to face proper judgment if we make it out of here alive.”
“Face proper judgment my ass! The only thing this criminal needs as punishment is a bullet from my gun.” Officer Hizen aimed his bulky shotgun at Selene’s midriff. Once he pulled the trigger, her body would most definitely paint the floors red. [Press!]
“Wait, major.” Cryson stepped in and stopped Hizen from pulling the trigger further.
“What’s this? Are you defying your superior, boy?” Hizen glared at Cryson so fiercely, his eyes almost cut off his head.
“Forgive me, major. But think about this from an assuaging viewpoint. Once this crisis has been dealt with. The civilians will need a target to vent their pent up anger on, someone to blame. And what better person could there be other than this criminal who had caused a major uproar in yesterdays’ news bulletin for her affiliations with the Fahtier rebels?”

Hizen considered Cryson’s words carefully. “I see. We pin the entire thing on her and those damn Fahtier rebels.” He lowered his gun. “Good thinking Cryson. I see that you’re adapting quite well.”
“Thank you, major.” Cryson then turned his gaze to the two officers at the bench. “You two, stay here and secure her body. Make sure that no harm comes to her.”
“Where are your manners, boy? We don’t take orders from the likes of you.” The two men felt insulted after hearing Cryson’s command. ‘This insolent brat. Who does he think he is?’
“Hurry up and do what he says!” When Warlord Hizen’s commanding tongue reached the officers’ ears, they quickly assented to Cryson’s demand.
“Yes, sir!”
……
Elsewhere at the Gomez residence. Isabel and Clifton Gomez were in the living room watching their favourite TV-show (No Arm Swordsman) when suddenly a piece of breaking news popped up. There was an elegant lady dressed in red. From the camera’s handle, her head was outside the window of a moving vehicle with a mic situated at her lips and her short tresses billowing against the wind. She occasionally glanced behind her as she reported the urgent new.
“Thank you all for tuning in to CN7 news, viewers. I am Dadra Gordon reporting live from the central region of Upaya. The camera handle might be a bit shaky but please bear with me.” Though trepidation was a major factor tugging at her heart, news reporter Dadra Gordon steadied her lips as she reported the situation currently happening at the central region of Upaya. “If you kindly take a gander behind me you will see that our van is currently being chased after by creatures of absurd proportions. Not too long ago, a terrible incident took place in the downtown district of Upaya which caused a contagious biohazard to pollute the atmosphere. The origin of this biohazard is still unknown to us. What we do know is that if a human respiratory system has been corroded with the toxic gas, they will immediately undergo a bizarre change that transforms them into those grotesque farting mutants that you see behind us. There is also a…”
[Screech! Screech!] The driver had to make a sudden swerve of his vehicle to avoid crashing into a wrecked gas truck ahead on the disorganized road. The shock caused the cameraman’s recording equipment to accidentally fall from his grasp and crashed into the asphalt that was soaked with gasoline.
[Dum! Dum! Dum!] The trampling advance of the rampaging Fart Mutants accidentally stepped on the portable camera. The lithium-ion battery pack inside caused a spark which set the flammable gas ablaze. [Fwoosh!] The blaze swiftly travelled to the huge gas tank, soon after, a massive explosion was generated. [Boom!]
“SRCAAAH!” The Fart Mutants who were chasing down the news crew, found themselves engulfed in searing fire. It was as if the blaze was their natural nemesis, for as soon as they became engulfed in infernal light, their entire body swelled up then imploded. [Boom! Boom! Boom!]
“Oh shit…” The cameraman covered his face at the sight of the sudden explosion. “I think that might have killed them.”
The equipment engineer agreed. “Definitely, they aren’t chasing us anymore.”
“Fire might be their Achilles heel.” Dadra Gordon thought. “We should send an urgent message to the FPD and BCDF headquarters. Also, we should let the civilians who are currently battling for their lives know.”
“But my camera has been destroyed and the ones on the van aren’t hooked up with the station’s satellite yet. How do you plan on broadcasting to the public?”
“Hand me my phone. As long as there is a good signal, I’ll get the message out there.” Dadra Gordon was too committed to her damn job. No matter the perilous situations that presented themselves, she would make sure to efficiently broadcast the news.

The Humble Life of a Skill Trainer
For Joshua Still, Skills were the lifeblood of his business. He wanted to understand them, collect many of them, and teach a few of them. Or, so says the Tailors Guild. The same could be said by the Blacksmiths, the Bakers, the Butchers, the Candlestick Makers, the Mages, and every other Guild with enough money and clout to complain. But his quiet anonymous life of research, practice, and training was about to change. When the Baron demands you pay him a visit, you have little choice.
