《Dragon God Resurrection》Chapter 10: What happened here?

The room was eerily silent, a Half-Dragon with a deep wound laid in front of the throne with his bloodshot eyes wide open. A few meters away from him Marr was on the floor unconscious with a deep wound in his shoulder.
On the far side of the room, a Halfling was sitting against a wall with his head down, showing no signs of waking up. It was impossible to know if he was dead or alive.
Suddenly, Dayer’s hand trembled slightly as he regained consciousness when he finally opened his eyes a sharp pain in the back of his head jolted him completely awake as he mumbled some improprieties.
“Holy crap! My head is killing me, fuck I don’t remember drinking this much, as a matter of fact, I don’t remember drinking at all.”
When the Eladrin tried to move his arm to touch his head, he realized they were broken as a jolt of pain assaulted him again. He cursed some more than he used his legs to carefully get himself up.
Dayer finally got up and saw the Half-Dragon laying there. He started to recall the events that happened up to the time he got knocked out as he said out loud.
“Right, we got our butts kicked by that rebellion’s general.”
As he saw Stradok’s dead body, he realized that something here wasn’t right.
[Wait if he bet the crap out of us… How am I still alive and he is lying dead on the floor]
The Eladrin walked around and inspecting the place, the room was pretty roughed up. There were two deep foot imprints on the floor, the middle of the throne room was completely destroyed and some water could be seen on the floor.
[Some heavy fighting went on here… They really messed this place up.]
As Dayer kept walking he soon reached the entrance where he found Merrich, sitting against a wall with his head down. As he inspected the Halfling, he could see his injuries weren’t that serious, but he had received quite a heavy hit.
[His arm and his leg are going to be fine… Better wake him up so he can fix my arms up.]

The Eladrin looked at Merrich trying to find a way to wake him up. His eyes darted to the arrow in his friend’s leg as an idea popped up in his head. He stared at the Halfling as he said.
“I apologize for this beforehand, and I want you to know this will hurt you more than it will hurt me.”
As those worlds left Dayer mouth, he used his foot to press on the arrow in the bard’s leg, and an agonizing scream was let out by Merrich.
“FUCK! Damn it Dayer, can’t you be gentler.”
The Halfling looked up with some difficulty and saw Dayer’s two arms hanging by the side of his body as he realized they were broken.
“Is not like I had a choice, shorty!”
Merrich ignored the Eladrin and checked out his own situation. His injuries weren’t that bad, but he was sore all over, and the two arrows didn’t hit anything that could be dangerous.
The Halfling raised his good hand and pointed at Dayer, a magic circle appeared beneath the Eladrin and a gentle divine power came out of it healing his wounds and fixing his arms.
As the Eladrin’s felt his bones shifting, he couldn’t but letting out a small groan of pain, as he stared at Merrich who had a mocking smile on his face.
“Couldn’t you have used a different spell for that?”
“I could have but it wouldn’t be as fun. Think of it as payback for my leg.”
Merrich grabbed a piece of cloth putting it in his mouth and then pointed at the two arrows on his body as he looked at Dayer. The Eladrin nodded in understanding as he got closer to the halfling and said.
“Are you ready?”
As the Halfling was about to answer, Dayer pulled the arrows out in one forceful motion. A muffled scream sounded out from Merrich mouth as he bit hard on the cloth in his mouth.
He thanked the Eladrin as he casted healing magic on himself.
Dayer helped the Halfling up, and both of them went towards Marr who was unconscious in the middle of the room.

When they reached Marr, they realized he was quite the mess. His shoulders were dislocated, his legs were broken as well as his writs, and the bloody hole in his shoulder was bleeding profusely. It was a miracle he was alive in that state.
Dayer had a stunned expression as he said.
“How the hell did he get that fucked up?”
Merrich looked around and then his eyes met with Dayer as he said.
“You don’t think he… It would be impossible, right?”
Dayer dismissed the question as he said.
“We can ask him when he wakes up. How do you plan on dealing with this?”
Merrich thought for a while and said.
“Look around, while I prepare a ritual magic. My normal spells and divine abilities won’t be enough.”
Dayer nodded as he looked around the throne room for anything of use.
Merrich sat on the floor and took out a chalk from his bag and drew a divine magic circle on the floor with Marr as the center. Once he finished the circle he took out two small censers, he positioned at each side of Marr’s body, finally, he took a ruby as thick as a thumb and positioned it on top of the Dragonborn.
The Halfling sat down in lotus position in front of the circle as he chanted a strange Elven incantation. As he chanted the circle light up and the ruby floated, the smoke of the censers circled around Marrhosh and a blinding light came out of the ruby shoot straight into Marr’s body mending his wounds at a visible speed.
The ritual kept going for about 10 minutes as the light vanished from the ruby it slowly crumbled to dust. Merrich almost fainted and was supported up by Dayer.
“Are you okay shorty?”
Merrich shrugged as he thanked the Eladrin.
“Yes, just a little tired. I used too much magic power today.”
The Halfling then stared at Dayer as he asked.
“Did you find anything useful?”
Dayer nodded at Merrich question before walking towards the Half-Dragon and grabbing the dagger on the floor right next to his hand. He carefully cut the Half-Dragon’s head and bagged it.
As he got back, Merrich tore a scroll up that would prevent anything inside the bag from going bad.
The Halfling looked at the Eladrin as he said.
“What did you find?”
Dayer looked at Merrich as he answered.
“Let’s get out of here first, we can talk about it once Marr is awake.”
As they were preparing to leave, Dayer realized the Half-Dragon’s body had a rather interesting ring on it.
He recognized the symbol engraved on the ring, but he couldn’t remember where, so he took it and showed it to Marr when he woke up.
The Eladrin grabbed Marr and tossed him over his shoulder as he carried him out of the ruins.
When they got out of the ruin’s, they went directly to general Raven’s house, making sure not to be seen by anyone. The Aarakocra received them and analyzed Marr’s situation.
“The young Dragonborn is all right, he seems to be dealing with a mental ordeal right now. He will wake up in due time, you shouldn’t worry.”
That was all General Raven told them before throwing them out of his house.
Merrich and Dayer, who had Marr over his shoulder, went back to the tavern and stayed there while waiting for Marr to wake up.
------------------
After two weeks passed Marr woke up from his coma. He went downstairs where he found his two friends drinking with a worried expression on their faces.
As he looked at them a warm feeling filled him as he said.
“Why the long faces?”
As this voice was heard they froze as their eyes darted in the stairway’s direction, where a tall Dragonborn was standing with a warm smile on his face.
Marr then walked towards his two friends as he ordered a beer to drink with them.
Once the beer got to the table both Dayer and Merrich, couldn’t wait any longer, as they asked at the same time.
“What the hell, happened back there?”

But when something goes bump in the night, when people begin to disappear, when a dark mystery begins to haunt even the most peaceful villages, there is only one organization to turn to: the Hunters. The Venatori. Having lived a life of discipline and service, former soldier Caiden Voros finds something even worse than the wars of humans: the monsters that hunt them. Wulfgard: The Hunt Never Ends is an episodic collection of stories, each of which stand on its own, but they also build upon each other in a consecutive order, bridging a gap between a novel and short story collection. These stories follow monster hunter Caiden Voros and his partner Gwen Vergil as they embark on tales of mystery, horror, and adventure to track down monsters - the living dead, beast-men, shape-shifters, spirits, and many more - that would do harm to innocent lives and, by whatever means necessary, put a stop to their terrors. Their motives, however, are not always what they seem.
