In heaven, small mountains are floating in the sky above the Palace. One of the mountains has an abode that belongs to the Goddess Ashanti. Ashanti beckoned Mika for a private discussion, and the other Sub-Gods did not know about that meeting.
Mika recently arrived and greeted Ashanti, “My Lady, your humble servant has answered to your summons.”
Ashanti smiled and stood up from her divan bed, “My child, it is only the two of us. There is no need to be humble,” She remained silent for a moment and she asked, “Do you know why you are my favourite amongst all of my children?”
Mika remained silent and kept looking at Ashanti as she approaches.
Ashanti placed her hand on Mika's head and explained, “You are beautiful and strong. When I look at you, it gives me strength and confidence that I am capable as a Goddess,” Ashanti looked at her hands, “With these two hands, you were born, and that makes me so happy to see that you can become this powerful. Soon enough, you will become the fully-fledged Goddess. You are my pride and joy,” Ashanti hugged Mika with her right hand and pointed to the divan bed with her left, “Come let us sit down. I have invited you to talk about that plan we discussed in our previous meeting.”
Mika replied with a concerned expression, “But my lady, the plan, is it not going to make Lord Khash angry at us?”
Ashanti explained and tried to comfort her, “Do not worry. This plan is something that he desires even though he does not know that we are planning it. Do not be disquieted. I know all the things that Lord Khash desires for this world.”
Meanwhile, in the Kingdom of Zamusa, there was a meeting called by King Fana Zamusa himself. The meeting took place in the castle of King Fana Zamusa which was built on the top of the cliff in the capital city of the Kingdom of Zamusa. The capital of Zamusa is a big city and the civilization of the Kingdom is a bit advanced compared to other southern Kingdoms in the continent of Musina. The people attending the meeting are as follows: King Fana Zamusa, Fan-bearer Khali, Queen Damaris Zamusa, The Viceroy Enosi Zamusa, Duke Khanda Makamu, Duke Matome Machete, Duke Elvis Chauke, Duchess Sali Dana, Baron Masoma Tjale, Baroness Reniwe Dana, The High Priest Jomo Dalmada, two castle bodyguards and few castle attendants who were serving the drinks.
Everyone called at the meeting was sitting on their chairs on a long table, and two of the chairs were empty.
Besides the right side of the King stands the Fan-bearer Khali. He is a tall skinny man with light skin, saggy eyes, and wrinkles on his face wearing a white garment and a white biretta with gold decorations. He is the battler, the adviser, and the right-hand man to the King. Fan-bearer Khali cleared his throat and announced, “Welcome to you all!” He turned and looked at the king, “Your highness, except for Baron Chani Puleng, all your vassals and servants called, have answered to your summons,” He stepped back and nodded to the King, “Your Highness.”
King Fana Zamusa, a giant man with muscles, brown skin, scars on the face, wearing leather armour and a crown, spoke in a deep voice while sitting, “I do not see the princess, where is she?” Fan-bearer Khali looked at the King and said, “My Lord, I also do not see her attendants. Maybe she is coming late for the meeting.”

King Fana Zamusa sighed and looked at those sitting at the long table, and he said, “It seems that we have incompetent people amongst the ranks of my council. Baron Masoma Tjale and Baroness Reniwe Dana, you have both failed a simple mission that I entrusted to you. You lost the Nakan city that we captured from the Kingdom of Dun land. How come? You are the top and the finest Barons that we have in the kingdom of Zamusa. Explain yourselves, how can you lose a single city heavily guarded by our elite troops and two powerful Barons as commanders? “
A slim beautiful lady with long red hair and light skin stood from her chair, and with a smooth soft voice, she said, “Your highness, it was unfortunate that I lost a city that you entrusted to me. Though I am capable of leading an elite army, how can I defend against the Dun Land army when our men are fighting amongst themselves?”
King Fana Zamusa shouted in rage, “What do you mean, Baroness Reniwe Dana. Please explain!”
“You see, Sire. There are rumours that you were going to grant Nakan City to me, and this news did not sit well with Baron Masoma Tja—”
“Your highness,” Baron Masoma Tjale, who is a bald short man interrupted. “Your highness, what she says is a completely false statement.”
Fan-bearer Khali yelled at Baron Masoma Tjale, “Shut up, Tjale!
The King allowed Baroness Reniwe Dana to explain. Keep your mouth shut! You are in the presence of his Majesty.”
Baroness Reniwe Dana further explained, “Baron Masoma Tjale did not receive the rumours well, and as a result, he plotted to kill me. His assassins underestimated my security, and my guards captured them. I was the one personally leading the interrogations and I found out that Tjale wanted me dead. My army was informed of the incident, and they tripled the defences in the city. Baron Masoma Tjale realized that his own skim to murder me was exposed, and the news about his attempt to murder me will reach the king, and he declared war to silence me. During our squabble, the army of Dun land attacked, and they found our army fighting amongst themselves. It was an easy victory for their side because we were both overwhelmed by their numbers and their force. Our army was struck by fatigue from fighting amongst themselves, and they lost morale and focus to defend the city of Nakan, and the Dun land army has easily driven us out from the city. I had to retreat and abandon the city because my men were easily slaughtered. Forgive me, Your Highness, I have failed you.” Duchess Sali Dana, a strong-looking beautiful woman with short red hair, light skin, and a smooth and deep voice, yelled from her chair, “You ugly rat, did you try to kill my sister? I will murder you right here right now!” She stood and pushed back her chair with just aura blowing out of her body, and she stretched her hand towards Baron Masoma Tjale, and the utensils from the table started to float, “Your death will not be a painless one,” And she shouted, “Magnetic field technique, 'Flyrokinesis”!” Baron Masoma Tjale floated on the air, and he got pulled to Duchess Sali Dana, and she grabbed him by his neck.

Queen Damaris Zamusa is a beautiful woman with a smooth cocoa skin tone, enchanting eyes, and purple lip-gloss that matches her long purple hair. She equipped herself with gold ornaments and diamonds, and she wears a red royalty gown and a crown. With elegance, Queen Damaris Zamusa raised her right hand, and immediately Duchess Sali Dana stopped with the attempt to kill Baron Masoma Tjale. With her enchanting voice, the Queen asked, “You want to kill him in my presence?” Duchess Sali Dana's expression changed from being angry to anxious, “But your Highness, he tried to kill my sister!”
The Queen calmly replied, “My husband is the King. The judgement is his to decide.”
Duchess Sali Dana dropped Baron Masoma Tjale down, “For my high respect for Queen Damaris Zamusa, I Duchess Sali Dana will spare your life and leave your fate in the hands of his Highness.”
Duchess Sali Dana picked her chair and sat, and the castle attendants began tidying the table.
The Viceroy Enosi Zamusa is a tall, handsome man with light brown skin, short black hair, and a short trimmed beard. He wears dark green armour that looks similar to the uniform of the Kingdom of Zamusa soldiers. He looked at the King, and he said, “Cousin, your daughter has not shown up yet, and where the hell is Baron Chani Puleng?
The King was about to pass judgement, and he heard the commotion coming from the door.
Fan-bearer Khali spoke to the King, “Your Majesty, it seems that one of the spies that we have sent to the capital of the Empire is back, and he is trying to enter the room, and the door guards deny him access.”
King Fana Zamusa relaxing on his majestic chair and folding his hands all the time “Let him in,”
“Speak!” spoke the King.
The spy then announced the news to those at the table, “I have three bad things to announce to his majesty. First and for most, there are rumours of a boy in the village of Marare who summoned an angel in a fight against Matjoro. Even though Matjoro is on the Riper tier level, the boy defeated him with no effort. The same boy became the village chief of Marare, and he introduced a new religion. The villagers abandoned their faith in God Kanisa, and they now worship a foreign Goddess.” Everyone on the table was shocked by the news, but the Queen remained unbothered by this information.
The High Priest Jomo Dalmada, who is an old man that wears priestly clothes was pissed by the news, “Damn infidels. God Kanisa is a true God to all humans, how can that boy blaspheme and turn away from the religion of the one true God?”
The spy then said, “Secondly, when I was on my way from the Empire, I met the princess. She was on her way to the village of Marare to challenge that boy in a fight. I tried to stop her, but she threatened to kill me.”
Everybody on the table was shocked, and even the Queen became a little concerned.
The King then said, “This is worrisome, though we do not know the strength of this village boy, my daughter is still strong. The angel is another matter because it is a divine being, and in this world, we do not know how strong the divine beings are. How can a village boy summon an angel? And how can a boy in the village become strong without proper training and powerful masters? Can a village produce such a genius? Tell me, what is the last news?”
The spy then said, “Last but not least, when the Chaos Lord received the news that you waged war against the Kingdom of Dun land, he became furious.”
The Viceroy Enosi Zamusa looked at the King, “Cousin, we cannot afford to be on the bad books of the Emperor Chaos Lord. That man is dangerous. With that power he has, is he even a human being?”
“I know, I know. Do not worry, Viceroy Enosi Zamusa. The Chaos Lord is our Emperor, and all the southern Kingdoms including Dun Land are the vassals of the Emperor Chaos Lord. I will have to travel north to the Empire to apologize and explain the conflict that caused the war. The chaos lord is our liege, and he has enough power to eradicate a single city in just a second. He came from God knows where and conquered half of the continent in just eight years. He is dangerous, and we can only be loyal to him for now. I will break through to a higher tier level very soon, and our kingdom will obey no one, “The King was a bit frustrated by the news, and he looked at Duke Khanda Makamu, “Travel to the village of Marare and make sure that my daughter comes back home safe, and also appraise the strength of that boy. I do not doubt Thasha's strength because she is almost as strong as I am, but with you there, even an angel cannot defeat both of you. My heart will rest easy knowing that you are protecting her.”
Duke Khanda Makamu is a tall, dark-skinned man with short black hair, a big moustache, and a slim body wearing a black tuxedo with a white spring tie like a noble gentleman he is. He said, “Your Majesty, Princes Thasha will come back home safe.”
King Fana Zamusa stood from his majestic chair, and he said,
“Though we are strong, we cannot underestimate the strength of this village boy. As for you, Baron Masoma Tjale, I will put your punishment on hold for now. Losing Nakan city was a slap on the face, but trying to murder one of my subjects was your biggest mistake. As for you, Baroness Reniwe Dana, go and find out why Baron Chani Puleng did not answer to my summons.” Baroness Reniwe Dana bowed and said, “Yes, Your Highness.”
The meeting ended, and everybody went out to do their duty.

Paternum: A Superhero Story
When Quinn finds an experimental superpower-granting costume in their parents’ attic, they didn’t expect to be drawn into a web of superhuman intrigue, but their discovery serves as the catalyst for that conspiracy to slowly unravel. At it’s heart, Paternum is an extended coming-of-age story for the main character as they become a superhero, in a world with more reasonable stakes and less powerful heroes than many superheroic worlds. Themes include what art means to different people, and what it means to be a patron, whether as a sponsor, a parent, or a supporter. I consider Paternum‘s primary influences to be the various versions of Spider-Man, J. C. McCrae’s own superhero story Worm, and Drew Hayes’ story SuperPowereds. I hope that fans of such stories can find something to enjoy in mine as well. Paternum is primarily hosted on my website (thevoidwrites.com) where it updates weekly in groups of scenes totalling approximately 2000 words. Here on Royal Road, it will update once daily with one scene at a time, but only after each act is completed on the home site - the next batch of updates is scheduled to begin on February 5th. There is a discord channel for discussion (discordapp.com/invite/QFMM6yA), and you can vote for Paternum on topwebfiction (topwebfiction.com/vote.php?for=paternum) as well. Finally, you can buy the first book of Paternum, The Swift Uplifting Rush, in a couple different ways - as an ebook through Amazon, or directly from me for a discounted price, or as a physical paperback from Amazon. Buying the book will give you access to Drawing Hands, an exclusive arc that won't ever be published on either my site or Royal Road.
