"As far as I know, my door's well locked all the time." Hansen said, squinting at the drawer where his gun was.
For the last sentence, he didn’t have to explain much. He just had proven it. Officer also stared at him like Hansen was getting way too humorous for the situation. Hansen giggled and the badass bully officer kept looking at childish like Hansen's bizarre behavior.
"CCTV footages never lie…" Deighan grabbed his collar and almost lifted him up by it. He guessed he had lifted him. "Four four nights, he's been visiting you…and guess what, each time he had a rucksack with him and you say –"
Officer Deighan was interrupted by huge sound upstairs in rhythm. Somebody was up in there. Sound of taping again came in same rhythm as it had been before. She had started to tackle on the glass window now which sounded like his house was being broken down. Doing so produced more serious sound than some stomps and jumps on the floor.
Deighan pulled Hansen towards the source of sound.
Hansen felt miserable. He imagined how different the current situation would have been if he hadn’t opted to put his gun inside the drawer.
He couldn’t outsmart Deighan and he couldn’t even imagine of out - powering him.
Every step of both men inched Hansen towards fear of being caught apparently red handed. Both men spoke nothing until they were on the passageway. For briefest moment, both men had forgotten about Marcello and his rucksacks' connection with frequent visits in his home.
The only thing to break silence between them was Deighan's order, looking at the locked door (from where tapping sound still came) "Open."
Looking at the bunch of keys, Deighan barked for sometimes which he couldn’t hear and pushed weak Hansen in sense of command.

He realized the same key could also be used as weapon for a fat man like Deighan. The stomach full of fat could easily be pierced even by the blunt key. But he didn’t do it. He instead pretended like he couldn’t find the right key but it couldn’t make Deighan to forget about sound and re discuss about Marcello.
"Hurry up dork!"
Hansen nod and with shivering fingers, pushed the door open. Then he was pushed by Deighan inside, almost knocked him off his feet.
But there wasn’t anyone inside.
Deighan looked at Benjamin's pale face turn reddish. But he didn’t stop at there. He looked around, checked under bed and everywhere he could reach. What he saw unusual there was a rocking chair which was rocking and tapped on the floor with gentle strokes. The rocking chair was Hansen's which had been in the room for a week.
"Where did she go?" Hansen wondered.
Deighan acted like nothing had happened and said, "Listen to me…if you see this Marcello, whom you have already been meeting, inform me. I don’t want any excuses. Your bag is full of fortune. I don’t have arrest warrant right now. Nor I do have any concrete proof to prove it. But what took place is for real. He may come here tonight too –"
"What if he doesn’t? What if I still say I don’t have any clue who you are talking about?"
"You are obsessed with probabilities, aren’t you?"
"Not as much as you are obsessed with a non existing person."
"His name is Marcello." Deighan started taking some steps back, still hesitating to make his mind for an exit.
Some seconds later Deighan turned back and marched towards the stairs like he was still in police drill.
"Why have you come alone to inquire me?" Hansen interrupted his walk. He didn’t stop but grinned and disappeared down the stairs. For a minute, he waited for the car's engine to start again until the bully cop left.
After Deighan's departure, the only job, he was focused in was to find out where the child had vanished.

Embers in the Ash
Four ordinary young people from four corners of the Earth wake up on a hill in another world. Here, their very presence is a crime against the Gods. On the fringes of civilization, life is often brief and always violent, but in the Empire's Heartland, implacable hunters seek to rectify their blasphemous existence with Blade and Fire. To return home, they will need to adapt to a place where their life will be earned in steel. But what will they be ready to sacrifice for their goal? Will their flame flicker out like so many others before them? Or will they thrive as Embers in the Ash? Hello, and welcome to my first fiction on this site! Embers in the Ash is an epic fantasy adventure story that aims to span quite a few chapters (I hope!). To set expectations, this isn't going to be a LitRPG or power fantasy-style story. I'm aiming for a fairly grounded story set in a fairly high-fantasy world. I hope you enjoy it! For this first month of publication, my aim is to give you, the reader, something to really bite into. I will be releasing a chapter every day at 9:15 AM EST (13:15 GMT), as well as the occasional double chapter (which will always be announced by a post-chapter author blurb). Check in fifteen minutes after the first chapter's release! After this first month of publication, the aim is to go for either a weekly or bi-weekly release schedule, depending on the sort of time I can reliably dedicate to writing. Either way, settle in for the long haul, and welcome to the story!

Junkyard Scavenger
Junkyard does not discriminate. This place where rejects gather is impartial to your past. Almost completely cut off from the Overworld, its limited resources put the residents at odds, as they struggle for each scrap they can get their hands on. You can decide to live in peace, but poverty, or try for a chance to leave. If you choose to leave, then be prepared to steal, plunder, fight, cripple, and kill if necessary. Gather items and become stronger. Crush your opponents as you take theirs for your own, and roll the weighted dice. Marco has watched for years how humans treat their lives like gambling chips. He saw delusion, confused with hope, and warnings falling on deaf ears. A million believing they are the one. Because don't you just need a few rare items to be unstoppable? Some EXP to dominate? Just a little luck? Surely, if you keep trying, fate will work out in your favor, no? Marco knows better than that. He's learned that patience is a virtue. He hopes others will listen; that they would learn. In time, things could be better. He plans to see to that himself. But when he meets Jeanne, their values clash. They both desire the same, yet their means differ. One would risk it all on a hunch, the other waits until the perfect moment. Does either understand the consequences of their methods? How does patience fare when time is not your ally? Do not hesitate. Doubt will drag you down. Beware of friend and foe. Because Junkyard does not forgive mistakes. A grimdark LitRPG story that's not just LitRPG, and not just grimdark. Updates about twice a week. Please feel free to leave some feedback. I'll appreciate it very much!
