《The Treeboy (Hiatus)》Chapter Eleven: Mission For All, Part Three

‘’To kill on sight, you say?!’’ Clous asked in a confused tone, realising the contradiction from his previously given instructions, Rosa hearing heavy grunts and breathing through the book. ‘’I’m guessing you’re already on that, from the sound of it?’’ Rosa asked him in a smile, looking over at Hiona and Yohiro. ‘’You...could say that, yeah! Just don’t use your offencive magic on this floor, you hear? The bastards seem to be high-class; bullets forged from pure-blooded mages and everything,’’ Clous warned them carefully, panting as he stood atop the bodies of two soldiers with uniforms different from the ones he had already encountered, his arm bleeding slightly on the side.
‘’Then it’s a good thing we sent you of all people, the one solely reliant on physical strength, there first, huh…,’’ Rosa laughed, getting proud ‘’Heh!’’ from the other side. ‘’I’m going for now, there’s still a lot of them on the floor, and i’m wasting time. Plus, the cameras are worrying me,’’ he explained to her, closing the his book and stopping the connection before she could respond to his decision. ‘’Seems like he’ll be fine from what I heard, so we should also go, eh?’’ Hiona looked at Rosa as she scratched her exposed stomach. ‘’’Before that, master,’’ Rosa stopped Hiona as she started walking towards the stairs, ‘’Why is Clous the one going to the sixth floor? You also don’t rely on magic to fight, therefore you’d get there faster. At the least, you could’ve gone with him,’’ she question her, leaving Yohiro confused at the sudden revelation he hadn’t thought about until then.
‘’You got me,’’ she muttered, ‘’I just wanted to wander around with little Yohiro here, you see?!’’ She yelled happily, grabbing Yohiro over the neck with her arm, hugging him close and pushing him against her, causing him to gag slightly, beginning to struggle to get out. ‘’Unsurprisingly, that’s a normal reason for you, but… You’re making an assignment longer and cutting your masturbation time down a lot? If you tell me you just wanted Clous to get beat up or something, i’d be even less surprised,’’ Rosa added to her suspicion, looking her master dead in the face, causing her to look at her feet. ‘’You’re a good judge of character, Rosa, that I know, but I don’t enjoy being questions, let’s go before something happens,’’ Hiona raised her head, speaking in a serious tone, surprising Rosa. The two of them began walking, with Rosa starting to walk next to them, staying on guard, not from the guards, but from anything Hiona might have been preparing.
‘’Hey, you okay there?’’ A soldier asked Bernie as he stood in place, his little facade about to be revealed. ‘’Master said to go all out, but if I do…’’ he mumbled, gritting his teeth, staying with his back turned against the other soldiers, who quietly took their pistols out, readying them with caution. ‘’Turn around slowly, or we’ll shoot!’’ One of them ordered, with the other three beside him. Bernie inhaled slowly as he straightened his back, turning around to them. ‘’I apologize for the inconvenience, but I tend to get panic attacks at points; it’s unfortunately not something I can control,’’ Bernie explained himself, hiding his hand behind his thigh; the same hand that had already began to form back into his actual one due to the magic wearing off. ‘’Ah, sorry to hear that. I’m also sorry we threatened you, soldier!’’ The man bowed, offering his hand to Bernie, leading him to give his still covered hand, shaking the man’s. ‘’We’ll be getting back to our duty now, take care,’’ he said, smiling at Bernie as he turned around along with the others, starting to walk away in loud, echoing steps on the floor.

‘’Christ almighty, I don’t deserve what you’re giving me in terms of luck right now,’’ Bernie thought as he fastened his pace, making it to the first floor through the stairs in a few quick steps down them, his eyes widening at the sight of the floor full of soldiers to the brim, causing his heart to begin beating like a rabbit’s, beating so fast, it skipped a beat every once in a while. Bernie looked back, remembering he didn’t get a chance to take care of the man whose appearance he copied, narrowing his eyes at the realisation.
‘’I’m sorry for this, all of you, but,’’ Bernie took out his book, ‘’I have my own problems waiting for me, as well!’’ He shouted at the top of his lungs, alerting every soldier on the premises, his voice becoming so loud, even Hiona and Rosa heard it from the fourth floor, which they had just reached. ‘’The bastard’s going in, then?’’ Rosa spoke to herself, beginning to laugh openly, confusing Yohiro as he looked at her, finding her grinning maliciously, scaring him slightly.
Bernie’s disguise completely came off, revealing the large man hiding underneath as he snapped his fingers without saying a word, causing the tome to shine, blinding the men as a large metal piece began emerging from it, a small grin emerging on Bernie’s face. ‘’You think he’s gonna kill them?’’ Rosa asked Hiona curiously as they walked past the bodies Clous left bleeding on the ground on his climb. ‘’Are you kidding me? That fetishing training on his weapon magic SO much, he reached the point of fast incarnation without chanting in that area, something even I couldn’t do. He’s gonna massacre them, at the least!’’ Hiona laughed openly and happily as they peacefully the staircase to the next floor. ‘’You’ve been pretty passive for a while, Yohiro, is something bothering now?’’ Hiona asked him in a soft voice, turning her personality on its head in the span of a few seconds, finding him walking up the stairs with them unenthusiastically. ‘’It’s just that...my chest is hurting so bad every time I see those men lying there,’’ he responded, leading the two of them to notice the slight shine of the gem in his chest.
‘’Don’t worry about it, that’s how everyone is at first. Except for me; I murdered those fuckers so happily, my own master looked pale, but Rosa was pissing herself on her first assignment, so it’s justified!’’ She tried to ease him, lowering her torso slightly and patting his shoulder, ignoring the embarrassed Rosa on her other side. ‘’I’ll truly grow to like this, and...even do it?’’ He asked her, beginning to tear up as the words left his mouth. ‘’The latter yes, but enjoying it is subjective. But that’s growing up, after all. You’ll do fine!’’ She encouraged him with a strong slap on the back of the head, causing him to fall while walking up the stairs, hitting his forehead on a step. ‘’You, hmf, overdid it, master,’’ Rosa addressed Hiona, trying to contain her increasingly loud laughter. ‘’Shut up, i’m no parent, i’m a thief, assassin, murderer, chef, and decapitator, not a mother! Plus, he wanted to be taught, so he’ll endure i-- What?!’’ Hiona interrupted herself, hearing Yohiro weep under his breath, causing her spas around, confused what to dom leaving Rosa smirking.

‘’I’m sorry, and to you too, as well as you. All of you, i’m sorry i’m enjoying this as much as I am…,’’ Bernie cried apologetically, at the same time as he was smiling joyfully, gunning the men one after the other with a gun, taking in the sound of every bullet leave the gun, land on the men, as well as every little scream of pain as the blood spurted from their body, covering the floor and walls. ‘’E-enough already,’’ Bernie stopped himself, realising he was shooting at already dead bodies, wasting his magic bullets, letting the gun disappear in his hand, the essence getting absorbed back into the tome. ‘’Then, this is my job done, isn’t it?’’ He talked to himself as he walked past the blood corpses, stepping inside the center of the room and crouching down. Opening his book, an incredibly large essence began emerging, blowing his hair back as he remained steady on his feet.
‘’That sound… He’s on the first floor, huh?’’ Clous ran through the fifth floor, grabbing the hand of one of the soldiers with a gun faster than he could react, turning the gun the opposite side while still in his hand, and pulling the trigger with his nail, causing to fire as he pushed himself off the ground with his feet, viciously slamming his clenched fist into another guard’s stomach, feeling his arm shake from the strain as he looked at the blood left by the first soldier, grabbing the gun from his hands and pointing it at the on he punched, crouching down. ‘’Seems like you’re all good-for-nothing, but i’d like to ask before I go: Is there anyone the sixth floor that’s a bigger pain the ass than you?’’ Clous asked as he pressed the barrel of the gun against the man’s cheek as he vomit out of his mouth slightly. ‘’The soldiers of the lower class a-aren’t allowed on the sixth floor! I don’t know, please don’t kill me, I beg of you!!!’’ The man continued pleading for his life with all he had, watching desperately as Clous raised his elbow, pushing it down on the man’s head, causing him to break his teeth as he closed his jaw. ‘’Thanks for the ‘information,’ see ya,’’ Clous whispered to the man as he tossed the gun as far away as he could, standing up.
‘’Hang on, is my deflection magic on a high enough level to reflect or deflect anything from Bernie’s library of magical guns, I wonder,’’ Clous thought as he placed his hand under his chin as he walked away, leaving the man breathing in pain as blood poured from his mouth. ‘’This mission has been unnaturally easy… I’ve had more trouble wiping out a market place than this, and yet it’s an elite army base,’’ He talked to himself along the way to the sixth and final floor, seeing the stairs in front of him. ‘’If this is as generic and as poorly managed as i’m thinking, they’ve put their best up there, not realising they wouldn’t have to put all their shitty goons there if they had protected their lower floors better!! They’re making me and Rosa look like masterminds!’’ He boasted to no one as he happily jumped over the steps, whistling to himself with every step, beginning to hear a loud stomp from up there, sighing because he appeared to be fully correct, preoceeding upwards.

The Kings of Thendor - The Two Kings
To some, it would probably be obvious. To others – not so much. In the land of Thendor, where magic is mysterious, unmentioned, and sometimes even disbelieved; where kings, queens, and stewards rule, the ages-old kingdom of Alldel remains without its king. Heirs come and go and no one can explain why each one chooses to abdicate to the steward. And who are these heirs, anyway? Some say the line of kings is dead, while others whisper of magic. Some, though few they are, will tell you other kingdoms have interfered, keeping the line of kings from rising in the nation of Alldel. But why? Adric, son of Cassian, heir to the throne of Alldel has come of age and must answer the question, whether to assume the throne, or abdicate as his ancestors had done for centuries. Raised as a blacksmith by a family friend, Adric struggles with the decision to take up his place as King of Alldel, and to make matters worse, a neighboring kingdom has confirmed the rumors of the common folk. An impossibly old king with a centuries-old message arrives and changes Adric’s life in ways he could never have imagined. Adric must decide the future, and perhaps even the fate of the great kingdom of Alldel. Unprepared for this turn of events, he enlists the help of allied kingdoms and even the mystical nymphs of the Tulusbian forest. Some say his actions will start a war on the continent of Thendor. Ohers say he is resurrecting a long forgotten one from centuries ago. Abdicate, or become king? To some, it would probably be obvious. To others – not so much.
