《Devour》(41) Chapter 9: Human to Human

To fight Alexander without holding back, Jio uses the fire stone's magic and shoots multiple fireballs in front of every monster in the arena to get their attention.
"I must end this now! Leave and let me fight Alexander! Human to human!" Jio announces like the legendary phoenix in the sky with a never-ending flame around his body.
"You don't have the authority to order us!" One of the Twelve Elite protests.
Jio looks around the arena and knows that no one will listen and descends to the ground; the fire around his body quickly spreads across the battlefield and is followed by a short burst of high-speed wind coming from his greatsword after his swing it once.
"You're right! The dead can't follow orders!" Jio states as he gets closer to the slithering monster, hoping he can escape death, and he does since Jio plans to kill anyone in the first place.
Jio looks around before swinging his weapon, and everyone quickly runs back to their sit cheering for him. He did all of this the fight Alexander alone.
"Oh! He got away," Jio let out after knowing that one of the Twelve Elite flees with his tail between his legs and continues, "Alexander! I'm the person you need to fight to be Sierra's side forever!"
"Who are you? Why are you doing this?" Alexander immediately questions Jio's actions.
"Did you forget? The Ancient announced that anyone could attack you, and I'm the strongest! As you can see!" Jio boasts in front of everyone, knowing The Ancient can easily eliminate him on the spot.
Alexander didn't waste any breath chatting with Jio and immediately charged to win, but Jio blocked his attack and managed to transfer the force to the ground.
"And you want to be with Sierra's side forever? Pathetic!" Jio declares as he looks down on him.
Alexander continues to swing his greatsword, but Jio evades and blocks Alexander's efforts. With Jio's great observation, he learns Alexander's pattern and starts mocking him by randomly swinging his greatsword for him to stop.

"It seems that you just started learning how to use your weapon. You have so much to learn," Jio lets out while everyone cheers for watching Alexander stumbling to keep up.
Alexander strikes again, ignoring Jio's words and slowly getting used to the greatsword's power. Jio smile as he waits for Alexander's power to grow and taste that energy himself.
*Just like Dino's 'Blood Art' but unusual and easy to control. I want to try it!* Jio thought like a hungry wolf stalking a sheep for dinner.
"Do you think you can defeat me?" Jio asks Alexander.
"I will do anything for Sierra!" Alexander announces as his body produces pure energy.
"Hope you can keep your promise!" Jio said, observing the energy around Alexander's body.
"How is a human like you doing in the monster territory?" Alexander asks, trying to buy time to charge fully.
"It's a long story, and I should ask you that question! I know what you are doing, but it's okay. I want to test your power!" Jio lets out and stares at Alexader with his glowing eyes.
"..." Alexander wants to praise Jio's observation skill, but Jio is the mountain separating him from his beloved Sierra that he needs to climb or destroy.
Alexander knows that the greatsword will give him unlimited energy and stamina to keep fighting as long he doesn't receive a life-threatening injury from the enemies. He plans to get Jio exhausted but realizes it's futile since Jio continues to watch him like he's waiting for something before he finishes him off.
"Are you really a human?" Alexander asks after he is at a safe distance from him.
"Hundred percent!" Jio proudly answers.
"How did you get this strong?" Alexander yet asks another question.
"Killing time to recharge, again?" Jio playfully asks as he quickly charges and swings his weapon, causing Alexander to hit the wall and lose grip on his greatsword.

Everyone cheers louder like they have forgotten that Jio is a human while Sierra continues to pray for Alexander's safety.
Looking at Jio's direction, Alexander experienced horror and dread simultaneously from the pressure Jio directly focused on him. He wants to move, but his body won't listen.
Alexander doesn't know what to do, but everything suddenly slows down, and he hears his heartbeat every second pass. He realizes that the greatsword's power has been trying to break through human limits, and fighting Jio helps him achieve ten years' worth of training.
Slowly walking towards Alexander, Jio knows that he will reach unfathomable power and use it against him.
Alexander can feel his heart pumps, blood rushing in every vein, the surging power around his body he received from the greatsword, and a quick moment of silents where he can feel everyone inside the Dome. Raw energy gushes out from his pores like a burst steam piping with all the pressure coming out of control.
Alexander looks at Jio only to see him smiling, which perplexes him while the greatsword floats back to his hand. He instantly disappears from everyone's view and watches Jio gets hit by an unknown force as he flies to the corner of the arena.
Reappearing in front of Jio, Alexander swings his greatsword to seal the deal and be with Sierra's side forever. Jio quickly uses his wings to block Alexander's weapon as the dust around them clears for everyone to watch who's going to win.
Alexander knows that he keeps getting stronger every second, but the person in front of him grows at the same phase with the same but somehow mixed aura.
*Devour... What a beautiful and frightening skill to have* Jio thought while he analyzed Alexander's power by using it against him.
"You're more than a monster than any monster kind!" Alexander declares as he jumps back away from Jio.
"Not wrong! I'm a human," Jio states and quickly strike Alexander with his greatsword and simultaneously uses his wings to attack.
Alexander can swiftly recover but not fast enough to regain his footing from Jio's onslaught.
*I'm sorry, Sierra... I can't keep my promise* Alexander thought as he passed out and dropped flat to the ground.
After a long silence, the Dome starts to rumble from the loud applause, stomping feet, and cheering from everybody celebrating Jio's impressive performance.
Sierra jumps out out the window with plants to assist her in descending gracefully and runs toward Alexander's to treat his wounds. Sierra knows that he's not in grave danger but is still unconscious while everyone protests.
"Our Goddess Sierra, he's a human scum! He doesn't deserve you and doesn't deserve to live either!" One of the monsters shouts as he recalls how the coldblooded humans killed his innocent little brother in front of him and continues, "Don't tell me, our Goddes have fallen in love with a human?"
Without any warning, the whole place turns grave, and everyone feels the Ancient's displeased presence while they catch their breath as the air gets heavier every second.
Feeling like they're about to be devoured, they heard the Ancient speak in their head, "I know how much everyone has been through, and I'm sorry..."
The Ancient suddenly appears beside his daughter Sierra and lets out his thought, "I only wish happiness to my dearest Sierra and finding someone for her is not my job. It's her job, and the only thing I can do is to be the model to her."
The Ancient looked around and said, "For her to find someone equal or better than me! This makes me happy and content, knowing she'll be okay without me."
The atmosphere returned to normal while everyone swallowed like they just avoided death.
