“So... what’s your plan? What do we do now?” Adara asked.
“Move away. We’re going to move away from here” Akilah answered nonchalantly.
“We're going to move away...Why?” Adara asked puzzled.
“Well, there’s several reasons” Akilah said and held up her hand in a fist, raising one finger at a time “Firstly we know he's going to come here so we need to go away.”
She raised her second finger “Secondly my appearance has changed and I'll get noticed. Granted I'm I can to wear an eyepatch, but I'm afraid that'll just attract more attention here”
She raised another finger “Thirdly, I now have the power to give us the peaceful and safe life we always dreamed of”
“But how do you plan on doing that, we have nothing and nobody...” Adara said with sadness in her voice.
Akilah nodded “Well I traveled back six years” Akilah said while looking down at herself and then at Adara “So, I assume that I'm eleven and you're fourteen, right?”
“Yes..” Adara answered while nodding.
“Which means that it's been four years since our parents passed away and about half a year since granny died...Right?”
“Yes..” Adara answered with a quivering voice.
Akilah could hear the sorrow in her voice. Akilah had already healed and gotten past grandma Imala's death several years ago, but she could see that the pain was still fresh for Adara. Akilah sat down next to her and began talking.
“I know this must all seem crazy and you might not be feeling keen on moving away from here so soon, but I need you to trust me.”
Akilah looked at Adara with pleading eyes. Adara sighed and move over her gaze over to the bird, that she had now put down on their dining table. After a moment of silence Adara looked back at Akilah carefully and asked.

“Do you have a plan Aki?”
Akilah smiled at her with excitement.
“Yes, we need to pack all our belongings and move away from here, as far away from the kingdom as possible. I can use magic to build us a new house and I'll even put up a force field to protect and hide our new home”
Akilah eagerly looked at Adara hoping she would share the same excitement. However, Adara still looked indifferent to the whole situation.
“Listen…I know this is all too much and you're in shock. It's information overload and you can't think through everything properly right now. I'm not expecting you to do that. I'm just telling you about my plans, we don't need to go through with all of this immediately...I just want you to know that this is my plan for us, to keep us safe.”
Adara looked over at Akilah with the same indifferent look in her eyes.
“Is there another plan besides uprooting everything and moving away?” she asked.
“No I'm sorry...I've looked through all the possible options and this is the best course of action for us.” Akilah answered
Akilah clasped Adara's hands and locking eyes with her “We don't need to do this today, tomorrow, this week or even this month. You can take your time.” she told her.
Adara glanced at the bird and then looked back at Akilah.
“How much time do we have, realistically?” she asked.
Akilah smiled faintly “About five years or so” and laughed.
“Five years?” Adara almost yelled out.
“Yup” Akilah said with a smile “You think you can work with that?”
"Yes, Aki that’s plenty of time” Adara said while smiling back at Akilah looking visibly relieved “I can definitely work with that”.

In a world set upon by an ancient threat, a new cycle of civilisation competes for power and resources. Amidst the games and politicking of Elder beings, the masses are unknowingly ensnared in plots and schemes that were centuries in the making. At the heart of the world’s workings lies the Tyreal Valley—a land that promises to fulfil the desires of those who seek it. As a haven for the truly strong, the path to this promise is paved more often than not in warfare and blood. To two young stragglers fighting for more than just their own fates, it is left as their only answer. But maybe that’s just what their enemies want. Magic system vaguely similar to GameLit ones (no system nor interface to help), with certain elements that are a bit more analogue. Politics, war, looming apocalypse, a tiny dash of kingdom building, and a minor bit of crafting. There is a bit of a progression element as well as both environmental and cultural exploration. The story follows two youths more directly influenced by aforementioned Elder beings than most. Neither lead cares for politics but certain situations force them into participating, forcing them to make decisions that shape their morality. Initially, the focus is on the male lead as he comes of age in an environment with little scope to change his future, only to be thrust into new circumstances that permanently kill some of his hopes. 3k words every chapter

Flashback: Siren Song
The year is 1969. Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves. Just like the mysterious music drifting through the jungle toward Yancy's squad, Siren Song will get under your skin and sink its hooks into your mind. —eden Hudson, Author of Halo Bound (the Redneck Apocalypse series) *** Hey everyone, this is James Hunter.
