Chapter 14: Fruits of Training
The clan assembled in the large colosseum located right in the middle of Ryoukai town. It was a large establishment with multiple seats capable of housing hundreds if not thousands of individuals.
Each clan has to send five representatives to the YAMAC. This year’s representatives were Reige, Mitchiel, Donna, Timothy and Darley. They were all the most powerful disciples in the clan except for Mitchiel.
Rolens would not be participating right off the bat this year since Mitchiel took his place when he decided that he would participate anyway.
So, for that reason, Rolens (a powerful disciple in Minotaur that participated in YAMAC last time) was waiting to see Mitchiel get beat up really badly in the matches. He was going to enjoy that, since Mitchiel took his place.
He never like Mitchiel in the first place, and now that Mitchiel took his place (since only five representatives can be send to the YAMAC), Rolens hated Mitchiel even more.
He glared at Mitchiel’s back throughout the walk to the colosseum.
--------
Having assembled in the colosseum and the representatives of each clan getting to their appropriate sections, the crowds and the murmurs increased exponentially. The amount of people brought to the YAMAC was always huge, and their cheers and boos were always the loudest.
The Minotaur’s section was located in the left of the colosseum. It was a small section with five seats and a great view to the stadium where the battle would take place. In that section, though small, they could watch the contestants fight clearly.
“Which group is going first?” asked Mitchiel to Reige.
“The new ones usually go first to show off their skills and get some popularity” explains Reige.
Before any other conversation or inquiries could be made, the YAMAC’s host appears on the stadium.
“Welcome everyone to this year’s YAMAC” said the middle-age man with a smile and clear voice. “My name is Orlandis and I will be the broadcaster for this year’s YAMAC”
Everyone from the crowd went wild with excitement. The YAMAC was finally starting. Expectations were high, the cold pressure can be felt as each contestant make their way to their section or hall.
“The first group of clans that will be starting today is the Typhoons and the Windtrope” explains Orlandis. “Let each clan representative make their way to the stadium, please”
The ten members in total made their way to the stadium.
“So, how do you want this fight to be?” asked Orlandis. “Since Windtrope is new, Typhoons get to decide. Battle Royale or Teamwork?”
“Battle Royale” said the guy in the middle of the Typhoons group (leader). “Just by myself, I can take those guys down”

“What did you just say just now? You think all by yourself you can take all of us down? Don’t get your hopes up, bitch” said the girl in Windtrope team.
“It has been decided then” said Orlandis with a smile and a happy voice. “Let the game begin from the moment I leave the stadium, so on your mark”
The very moment Orlandis stepped out of the stadium, the leader of Typhoons went into the offensive. He rushed and activated his martial arts skills. He completely dominated the stadium. None of the Windtrope stood a chance against him.
They were all crushed and had to get carried out to the medic hall.
The fight lasted only a couple of minutes. It was barely twenty minutes. All by himself, he took out a whole team. The crowd went wild. They blinked and blinked and still couldn’t believe it. For someone to take out a whole team by themselves like that? That was something that haven’t happened in a long time.
For someone to be this confident about their strength, and even if the team was relatively new, that was a clan’s finest martial artist and they all just got taken down just like that? By himself?
“Whoa whoa whoa, is this a demonstration or not?!!” exclaim Orlandis. “We all got to see something amazing, the leader of Typhoons, wingboon, just took out a whole team? A whole team all by himself?”
“This year’s YAMAC is definitely going to be interesting!!” exclaim Orlandis. “It seems we have a Martial Arts Higher Trainee or even an Imperial Guard candidate here, everyone”
----------
The crowd went wild. It has been a while since the crowd had seen something like this. The other clans tighten their jaw and flexed their muscles after what they have seen.
They could feel it in their vein, they were all going to have to fight strong opponents on that level, sooner or later. WindTrope got unlucky to have had Typhoons as their first opponent.
“Okay, on to the next team, everyone welcomes the Ryoughai team. Taken their name from the town’s name of Ryoukai. This year everyone has high expectations for them, last year one of their members got eighth place” reminded Orlandis to the crowd.
“Ryoughai!! Ryoughai!! Ryoughai!!” roared the crowd.
The Ryoughai group got to the battle stadium and their opponent was waiting. It was still the Typhoons turn. In YAMAC a team goes twice unless they lost the first time (if they win the first time, they go again, if won again, they don’t have to go until a later time).

“I have been waiting for this” stated the leader of Typhoons, Windboon. “Now, come Ryoughai, I will show you who is the strongest once and for all”
Orlandis casually stepped out of the stadium, and the battle started.
---------
This time it wasn’t a battle royal with just Windboon attacking a whole team again. Even Windboon (leader of Typhoons) knew his limits. Destroying a newbie team is easy, in fact destroying any team who doesn’t have a member in the top sixteenth would be easy for him. But definitely not the Ryoughai team.
The Ryoughai team were in a league of their own.
The leader of Typhoons himself got fifteen place last year. His power level was not to be underestimated unless of course you were the Ryoughai team, who possess a member that was eighth place in last year’s YAMAC.
The Ryoughai team were the real bosses of the YAMAC.
The YAMAC was happening in their town, their people, their everything, so of course they had to work harder than anyone else to make sure the top ten had their name and sweat on it. That is why even the teams that possess members that are in the top five in last year’s YAMAC are keeping their eyes open and watching this fight like a hawk.
The Ryoughai’s clan specialty is grooming new techniques at a really rapid pace, hence, why they never got lower than a ten since YAMAC’s history.
----------
The battle continues.
Windboon uses his skills to its borderline limit. He did not hesitate to attack his opponents in the back. He was in no way a coward, this was a competition, and you got to do whatever it takes to guarantee victory.
He activated the [Flame Spear Obliterator] skill. A spear appeared in his hands, and throughout his arms were flames. Flames of a deep red flamboyant color.
“Hehehehe” laughed Windboon as he removes the bandana that was hiding his forehead. “This won’t be like last year, fuckers. I prepared this time, with this not even you guys will be able to attack me so carelessly like last year”
“Remember this, fuckers!!” yelled Windboon. “This scar right here, in my fucking forehead, you guys did that. I remember that time very well, it’s time for payback times two, fuckers”
Windboon then pointed his spear at the leader of Ryoughai.
It was guy in his late twenties with silver hair and yellow eyes shaped like a hawk’s. He was not paying any particular attention to Windboon’s rambling. He looked as if he wanted to be anywhere but here.
“Look at me when I am talking to you, dumbass” Windboon continue to ramble, before a fire beamed right to the leader of Ryoughai in a matter of seconds. Everything was evaporated and fog filled the stadium.
Suddenly a sound could be heard. It was the sound of a man coughing blood and choking from his own blood. His throat was slit by a sword. The man, which the fog dissipating reveal, is none other than Windboon.
He fell to the ground and his body stopped moving. The crowd and all the other contestants went quiet.
Just what happened? What is going on? Did he just fall?
“This is surprising isn’t it everyone?!!” exclaim Orlandis with his happy voice and smile. “It seems that Ryoughai’s leader learned some new moves”
The moment Orlandis said that, everyone’s attention went to the leader of Ryoughai.
He was behind Windboon but by a large distance. He moved from his previous position when Windboon sent that fire attack at him, slit Windboon’s throat with his small knife, and retracted several paces away from Windboon.
“There goes Ryoukai’s number one assassin, Gondocks-san!!” exclaim Orlandis with a smile. “Don’t forget to cheer everyone”
The crowd suddenly remembered to cheer and sound from all over the colosseum resurfaced. The other members of team Typhoons were all shaking in terror from what happened. One moment their beloved leader attacked using a fire-based martial art style skill and the next, he was standing there waiting for the fog to end, except that his throat was already slit.
None of them even saw that happened. If it wasn’t for Orlandis’ commentaries, they wouldn’t have even realized it was Gondocks that managed to do that. It was just too fast!
“Do you surrender?” asked a young woman in Ryoughai’s group.
“N-yes” said the rest of the Typhoons group.
They hesitated for but a moment, but they knew they couldn’t win against Ryoughai. Ryoughai grew stronger and stronger at an almost exponential rate. Last year they were using hand to hand combat, and this year it’s something completely different.
Split-second movement-based Martial Arts. One of the hardest movements to learn in Martial Arts. It requires an understanding and body discipline that one cannot even imagine the tribulation it must have taken to learn it. And Ryoughai did so, in only a year. They are absolute monsters.
This year, it won’t be too hard to imagine them being in the top three like they were five years ago. The real bosses of the YAMAC finally makes their appearance and their fruits (Results) of training is overwhelming!!

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
