Chapter 18: Struggling is Triumphing

Gondocks was always fortunate to have great luck and talent since he was born. He had great looks so much so that all the girls were after him and even confessed to him in a daily basis even though they knew he was an assassin.

Everyone was attracted to his hawk eyes. And his handsome mysterious appeal was a bonus too!

Gondocks eyes itself were form like that of a hawk’s. When he was born, everyone was surprised by this. Since his mother’s father (his grandfather) had the same eyes.

Thanks to those eyes, the wren-tit eyes, he could use the [Hawk’s Time Spec] to its full potential.

This was only possible in his family.

A family of assassins.

As a family of assassin, Gondocks was taught at a young age that defeat was another word for improvement, and that to struggle is to triumph.

He was taught that an assassin must always be self-improving every day, for the world was harsh for assassins. The more powerful the target, the more money one can gain, and if he can reach the top, he will become the most powerful assassin the world had ever seen.

This was his dream! To become the first Supreme Assassin! And to reach the top of the pyramid something like a severe cut that broke part of his chest all the way to his abdomen was nothing to fret about.

Struggling is Triumphing!

Only by working forward and struggling can one truly sit back and enjoy the view and remember the good old days when life was difficult.

People who have attained everything from the start without even trying, have no stories to tell their grand-children about when they get older, because they did nothing.

Gondocks was not going to turn into one of those individuals. He will become someone his family will be proud of, someone who would tell his children and grandchildren stories to.

The greatest Assassin the world had ever seen!

Therefore, it doesn’t matter what pain he is in right now, or what pain and difficulty lay ahead in his future. It doesn’t even matter if he will die soon in the future, the only thing that matters right now is his target and his goal!

And there is only one of each. His target: Relnandes. His goal: World’s Supreme Assassin, not for hired!

Gondocks only cares about getting stronger and reaching the top!

His goal shall not be denied.

With a minute having pass and the countdown tickling down, Gondocks starts his advances.

He had decided on his next course of action.

Reaching the [water barrier] and his knife in hand, he deactivates the [Hawk’s Time Spec].

The time flow becomes normal again. Everything starts to speed up and reach its normal speed.

Before Relnandes knew it, Gondocks was standing right beside his [water barrier].

Surprise run high within Relnandes. Relnandes taken by surprise attack Gondocks with [Expert Claw Attack] skill again but not without Gondocks delivering an attack of his own to the barrier.

[Edge Cutter] skill was used. Right at the moment Gondocks was hit by the [Expert Claw Attack], he hit the barrier with his knife using the [Edge Cutter] which transformed the knife into a sword via a blue water extension. Half of the sword (a blue water edge and point got added to the knife) was blue and transparent.

Gondocks hit the barrier with everything he had, and similarly, he got hit by Relnandes with everything he had.

Gondocks fell to the cold ground once more. Now he was unable to move. Relnandes’ barrier was cracked but not completely broken, and within thirty seconds, his barrier would naturally mend itself by taking some more internal mana from Relnandes.

Relnandes now needed to deal the finishing blow.

He approaches the internally bleeding Gondocks with a grin. Relnandes knew with this he won this match. By taking Gondocks down, he only has a few opponents left to worry about.

Taking down Gondocks would give him some sort of fame-boost. He was kind of glad that Gondocks became so much stronger than last year and unfortunately for Gondocks, all that hard work would only help fuel Relnandes’ fame.

The stronger the opponent, the more fame the individual who defeat them gets. This was a Martial Art saying from long ago. Wherever there was a prodigy that manages to defeat someone much older and supposedly stronger than them, the more fame the prodigious individual get.

This was the common sense of this world. Everyone will bow to the strong, while the weak shall perish. Only fame, money, luck, talents, looks, and power count in this world. And if you are missing any one of those, the world will leave you to die and rot.

Relnandes with his barrier still activated, use the skill [Expert Claw Attack] once more to finish what he already started, only to be taken up by surprise.

Gondocks wasn’t there!

When Relnandes activated his skill, during that short almost negligible moment, Gondocks managed to slip through. He could have only done this by using [Hawk’s Time Spec].

This was starting to really infuriate Relnandes even more. Each and every time he was about to claim victory to this battle, something had to happen to get in his way.

Before anyone knew what was happening, Relnandes’ barrier broke. His two partners were severely wounded. And he was stabbed in his abdomen.

Relnandes fell in the cold ground for the first time since the match began!

How did it come to this sort of eventuality?

Gondocks, when he fell hard on the ground, he hit his head hard. And due to the pills that he took to change his blood flow to allow him to master [Hawk’s Time Spec] faster during the one-year period, the chemical component was still in his body system and blood.

He took the pill known as MK-15 every day while training for a year. The side effects included hallucination, memory loss, disorientation, language impairments, etc.

All classic disorders of delirium.

Even though Gondocks stopped taking the pill two weeks before the tournament begin, some of the chemical from the pill still resided in his body. The chemical from the pill and the sudden head crash to the ground and wounds added together, caused a new type of event.

Gondocks awakened to the match in partial delirium. While lying in the ground, he activated [Hawk’s Time Spec] since that was what he has been training on for the past year.

He noticed he was in the YAMAC Tournament but doesn’t know how or why or when even.

His head hurt.

He noticed Relnandes, a competitor in the tournament approaching him. He knew Relnandes was his opponent.

He got up but his legs felt weak. He was completely disorientated. And thanks to the skill [Moonwalk]’s leg memory, Gondocks started to dance around and around and getting closer to Relnandes with his eyes close.

Gondocks closed his eyes since he couldn’t withstand the bright light in the colosseum. It was too bright for him.

He couldn’t recognize anyone sitting in the front row of the colosseum.

His headache was hurting him even more. It was a migraine at this point.

He took out his sword and each time he did some more steps he would gently open his eyes partway to see where he was and then he would swing.

And swing and swing some more.

All the while swinging, he used his favorite all time skill [Edge Cutter].

For unknown reasons, maybe because of his delirium or maybe because of his luck, he managed to use both [Hawk’s Time Cutter] and [Edge Cutter]

Before he knew it, he has wounded Relnandes’ teammates and Relnandes himself.

Time flows back normally. Everything starts moving at normal speed again.

Everyone throughout the colosseum is surprise and shock.

Relnandes’ teammates fell to the ground at the same time. Relnandes had a confused facial expression on his face as he touches his abdomen. A deep red blood appears underneath his shirt. His hand is bloodied with his own blood from when he touched it.

“What the fuck just happened?” thought Relnandes as he fell down hard. “When did…”

Relnandes did not have a chance to say another word since he lost consciousness immediately.

Gondocks was the only one left standing. Blood was dripping wherever he walked.

He was losing too much blood!

His face had already lost its color. He fell slowly to the ground.

His breathing was shallow.

His heartbeat was beating slowly.

He was hurt beyond repair!

He was about to die and in his final moment, he smiles with all he got!

He won this match! His ranking should increase even if he dies.

Everything that just happened took only two minutes.

Gondocks was drawing closer and closer to his last breath, and his smile is shining brighter than ever.

Due to numerous reasons, i have to cut my beautiful break in half, which means, starting tomorrow, i will be going back to regular chapter release. Extremely sorry about this, but school work must take precedence. But don't worry though, during the summer, multiple chapters will be release during the day.
