《Megane Saga》Chapter 5 - Bandit's hideout

I’m now at the entrance of the bandit’s hideout.
“Thank you for guiding me here, now go, tell your comrades that you lead me here.”
“W-wait this isn’t wh-“
“You don’t want to go?” I said while pointing the sword to his face.
“N-no, t-they’ll kill me...”
“I don’t care, you either go inside or die here.”
After looking at my eyes for a few seconds he spoke. “I-I’ll g-“
I decapitated him and entered the hideout. “You wasted too much time.”
The bandits inside were surprised to see me and before they could react, I decapitated them. As I got deeper and deeper into their hideout, more and more bandits showed up but this time, they knew I was their enemy.
Close combat bandits ran to me, magicians and archers sent their attacks from afar, but I tightened my grip on the sword and waved it sidewards. “Celestial Slash!”
A transparent, crescent projectile was sent to them, cutting them all in half. The projectiles that were already released was still headed to me, so I spun the sword in front of me, creating a circular shield that erased everything that touched it.
When I got to the deepest part, there was a large metallic gate and a few armored bandits guarding it. I raised the sword and swung it downwards, sending a transparent wave, cutting an armored knight in half. When the other bandits noticed it, I already sent transparent waves which cut them in half.
I repeatedly swung the sword without hitting anything, making it heat up and get redder. After awhile, I put it behind me and took a deep breath. I swung the sword upwards releasing a red wave to the gate and swung it sidewards sending another red wave.
I dashed to the last wave I released, pushed the sword forward, piercing the wave. I continued moving forward piercing the other wave. “Cross Impact!”
I jumped to the center of the gate and pierced it, dividing the gate into four equal parts. There’s no need to hit the center, I just thought it would look better that way.
The moment the gate fell, I was showered with arrows so I spun the sword in front of me to block it all. As I spun it, it got redder and redder and as I hit the ground, I released a red wave. Cutting and melting everything it touches.

The number of bandits were greatly reduced after that, only leaving four, with one that looked more intimidating than the others.
I quickly sent waves to each of them, cutting only three. One was able to block it, with a sword that emitted black aura. Identify!

So that’s why, he’s quite strong despite not being a hero.
“You’re quite strong for a girl, say, do you want to join me?”
“Nope”
“...With the both of us, we can r-“ I sent a wave to his neck which interrupted his speech. He was able to block it and as he regained balance he looked at me furiously. “Seems you do not want to talk. It’s a waste, but I have to ki-“
I appeared in front of him and pushed the sword to his eye, he immediately jumped to his left to dodge.
“It should have been obvious I didn’t come here to talk right? Are you stupid?” I said while sending another wave.
He blocked it with his sword and was pushed back. The moment he regained balance, ten more waves were flying towards him. He was able to block all of them, but lost majority of his stamina because of it. Without letting him rest, I appeared in front of him and kicked his sword away.
I pointed the sword to his neck and said. “This is the end.”
He stared at the sword for awhile and as he slowly realized the situation, his expression turned from a surprised look to a despaired one.
BANDIT LEADER’S POV
How did this happen? Why is this happening? I was suppose to be invincible with the cursed blade, yet she easily defeated me.
“Please, don’t kill me.” I said while kneeling on the ground.
This shouldn’t be happening, this isn’t what I planned!
“I’ll let you live but you have to answer my question.”
“What is it? What is it? I’ll answer so please don’t kill me.”
“How many people have you killed?”
“I-I can’t remember the exact number...”
“So you killed so much that you can’t even remember?” Well, I can’t say I’m any different. But you know what, I’m prepared to die. I took lives so its only natural that someone will take mine.” She said as she raised her sword.

“Please! Please! Please! Please! Pleas-“
She swung the sword down, cutting my body in half and as my life faded I heard her say. “Don’t kill if you don’t want to be killed, it’s common knowledge right?”
SHIZUKA’S POV
That should be the last one, now, I wonder how many levels I gained from killing them all.

20 levels, that’s great. I guess killing someone at level 100 is bound to give me a lot of experience. Now that that’s over, time to go back to the caravan. Still, I can’t believe the leader of the bandits would act like that. Even at death’s door, shouldn’t he have a bit more backbone?
“Do you want power?”
I looked at the place where the voice came from and saw the sword emitting black light float.
“Someone such as you should have a powerful sword like me instead of that trash don’t you agree?”
“No, I’m good. More than that, should I destroy you?”
“Wait, why? Why do you pick that trash instead of me? I can further increase your already high strength.”
I put the sword on my waist and said. “Heed my call, Claiomh Solais!”
A sword of light appeared in front of me and floated to my arm. “MASTER! HOW LONG I HAVE WAITED FOR YOU TO CALL ME!”
“Shut up and purify that cursed sword over there.” I said while pointing at the cursed sword.
He didn’t have a head so I don’t know where he’s looking at, but when he noticed the cursed sword he shouted. “HOW DARE A FOUL SWORD LIKE YOU SHOW YOURSELF TO MASTER!”
“Should I break you instead?”
“I-I’m sorry master.” He flew to the cursed sword and showered it with light.
The moment Claiomh Solais appeared, the cursed sword didn’t utter a sound nor did it move. It simply stayed on one spot and continued to do so as it faded.
“All done master, now let’s go cut somethi-”
“Disperse, Claiomh Solais.”
“MASTER NOOOO!” He yelled as he slowly faded.
Since my current sword was in a bad state, I walked around the bandit hideout looking for a sword that looked the same as mine and headed back to the caravan.
When I got back, everyone was already asleep, except for Andas who was walking in circles with a furious expression.
The moment he saw me, he yelled. “WHERE DID YOU RUN OFF TO? DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED I WAS?”
“Why would you be worried? You only met me today you know.”
“...Sigh, forget it, just go back to the caravan. I got you a bowl of soup, be grateful I didn’t eat it while you were away.”
I went back to the caravan with him and ate the soup. It tasted normal, nothing special. After eating, I sat at the edge of the caravan and stared at the sky.
The corpses of the bandits should attract monsters, but it’s far away so it shouldn’t affect us. Based on their leader’s titles, I can assume they’ve done a lot of criminal acts already. And since they planned on attacking this caravan, I had a good reason to kill them.
Not that I care even if I’m seen as a villain. I simply kill those that try to do anything to me and those around me. Well, regardless of the reason, a sin is a sin. I won’t be surprised if I end up in hell one day.
After that, I stayed with them moving around each caravan in search of tasty food. We encountered small groups of bandits, but the knights took care of them.
Andas continued to be strict and I found it fun to tease him because of that, leading me to be scolded everyday. When we reached the city, most of their food merchandise were already gone, since I bought and ate all of them.
Standing in front of an inn, I bid my farewell to the group. “Thank you for letting me join you.”
“Hahaha, come visit our stores when you have time ok?”
“Shizuka, don’t eat to much or you’ll get a stomachache.”
“I guess this is farewell, good luck on your journey.”
After that, the others went to the inn, leaving Andas and I alone.
“Don’t forget to find someone that would accompany you, ok?”
“Yes, yes, I know.”
“Take this seriously!”
After a moment of silence, both of us laughed.
“Stay safe, Shizuka.” He said as he showed a smile.
“You too, Andas.” I said as I turned around and walked to my next destination, food stores.

Keepers of the Neeft
The Indigo Empire has conquered half the world’s nations, their people, and their gods. According to its citizens, old and new, the rest of the world will follow. In the capital of the Throne-home, the Imperial Academy produces the next generation of great leaders to drive that expansion. Cadryn Bence knows he will be one such leader, he’s overcome his common birth, mixed heritage, and every other obstacle to be the top of his class. He dreams of glory on the southern front against the Gravanik States. He will not be finding it. Instead, if the glory he expects. Far to the north, lies the unassumingly named North-Eastern Extreme Frontier Tower, a backwater post if ever there were one. Through the machinations of the Emperor’s state religion, and a cult within it, Cadryn will find himself on his way to this first assignment. On the frontier, Cadryn will discover that neither his campions, nor the Neeft itself, are what he expects. Follow Cadryn on his journey to discover many truths: about himself, about the Empire, and about the very world he call home. ****** Keepers of the Neeft is a (bit dark) fantasy story revolving around Cadryn and his journey of discovery. There’s a fairly wide cast of supporting characters (his fellow Keepers) all with their own reasons and motivations behind how they came to be at the Neeft. Current release plan is to have part 2 completed, then fully edit up till the end of part 2. I am in the process of editing the earlier content as I complete the updates/re-writes. Apologies for any rough content in the meantime. My primary objective with Keepers of the Neeft is to work on developing content flow and establishing a community of people who enjoy my writing style. I write SF/F and horror as my primary genres, Keepers is actually my 3rd novel length work, but my current project. Updates of new Content will currently be in the form of one larger post on Tuesdays.
