(MC’s POV)
And thus begins the sobbing i was watching in interest as i saw the black side of the dungeon core while all the fairies were trying to get to the other dungeon core to aid in any manner possible, a futile effort, and as i watched the last speck of unturned core vanish, i get this from the system.
Turning time: 3:00.
Turning time: 2:59.
I looked away from the timer i decided to make the most of my time by visiting the ants
And found her in a corner of the room they had apparently made an “impressive” fortress, however it seems that it was under attack and most embarrassingly was being destroyed by pigeons admittedly magic mutant pigeons but still pigeons nonetheless I went and found the queen nursing the last of her brood, she was missing an eye and only one half of an antennae remained i looked through the memories of the ant queen and found that she did not have any instincts whatsoever so the impressive skills which i had given her have hardly been used not to mention she made enemies of literally everyone in this first room by stealing their young to feast on, which explain the pigeon’s reaction. I shake my head in disappointment and I look at the other monsters and none of them have it, not a single one has any instincts at all, some of the cats are snuggling with the what should be their prey and that spider just let that small bug out of his web, she didn’t even leave it for later! That is the most unspiderlike thing I have ever seen from an orbweaver spider.
How am I supposed to have an effective force covering my dungeon!?! I decided to answer that question when that dungeon core that i conquered woke up, speaking of which what does the timer say:
Turning time: 0:14.
Turning time: 0:13.
Turning time: 0:12.
I decided to look at the doorway and realized that the doorway trap had not been reactivated so I reactivated it and this time with that magic barrier and added “keys” to get through the door. I had them be very hard to reach but not impossible to reach either.

Dungeon core number 72 conquered
The Goddess Sigva has noticed that you made a system, as such you have been dragged in for questioning before the goddess.
After I noticed the notification it all faded to black.
(Sigva’s POV)
About 1 “god minute” ago
Where is that feeling coming from?! It’s almost like someone made a system and didn’t tell me about it, I sent the system that I made to search for any systems that have been made by someone other than me, which until now i considered impossible. After a while I got a notification from my system;
The entity responsible for the system and the system itself has been found and is being brought before you.
Very well, lets just see if he is ‘the one’, if not, no biggie just destroy him/her and that system he/she generated
As I watched an orb was summoned and solidified into… an orb with spots and a strange aura, “What are you?” I said, in confusion
“A dungeon core, what do I look like?” said the orb with some amusement.
(MC POV)
“What are you?” said a giant lady who I assumed was the Goddess Sigva said with confusion on her face.
“A dungeon core, what do I look like?” I said, well and truly amused. In any case i looked at my system for more details only to see it not responding and “staring“ at a blue orb by the goddess’s side.
Just as the prophecy foretold/ Just as the prophecy foretold
I watched as the goddess’s orb flew slowly towards my system; which noticed also detached too and was red, the two collided like two blackholes merging (except without the gravity wave), and once the process was done, it looked like a single purple orb that had not a single speck of red or blue but was just purple, royal purple;
System fully complete; checking host number 0,
Anomalies detected; fixing; user will pass out for the remaining 3 weeks for preventative maintenance user will be suspended in starter gel during that time; setting time management;

Error; too slow to meet deadline, needs to speed up asking original host for Efficiency +20
Grant System Efficiency +20? (Warning: if the user doesn’t grant this request, there is a 50% chance of dying instantly.) (Y/N)
I blinked, I did not know what ‘preventative maintenance’ had to be done but i had a feeling it meant adding instincts, and other things probably, then clicked ‘Y’ and remembered no more, until i woke up later.
(Sigva’s POV)
Well I'll be darned, so a dungeon core was the one prophesied by the universe.
Accept Higher Calling? (Y/N).
I blinked, there is more to my role? I accepted my role I guess, so I pressed Y.
Congratulations! You have become the system’s guardian and you will go unconscious for more than five weeks.
After I heard the message I fell asleep.
(Enemy Dungeon Core POV)
Huh? Why am I still alive?
Also why is the ground turning into starter gel? When looked around me i saw that the skeletons that i remembered having my fairies in cages suddenly don’t exist also all the fairies fell like they were still in them and expected them to be there.
And then they turned into starter gel too and I found them inside me. And then I heard something, something I had not heard before.
System installed; hello user number 2.
Wait, that system myth is real?!
User number 2 is correct, the dungeon core that conquered you was the one to reunite the two systems.
The System has noticed that you have a have multiple questions so the system shall reply to them in the order that they occurred and as in depth as possible;
1: Why am I still alive? Answer: user number 0 has plans for you, not to mention the route he took actually was for the best for you, host (user number 0) had no ill intentions, he heard from one of your fairies that you had need of a safe place and since, due to the type of dungeon the original user was, he had a passive from his subspecies that prevented natural mana regeneration entirely, and thus you would’ve actually died had he chosen to not do what he did.
2: Why is starter gel everywhere? Answer: believe it or not, the user skipped the starter gel cycle that gives birth to your species and is only 2 weeks old, however skipping the natural starter gel cycle has problems, problems that the user has noted shortly the system’s recombinding event; namely none of the monsters he had any instincts whatsoever also his soul was bound to his current host (the dungeon core that he is inhabiting) via a weak, unstable bond. Thus it is a marvel that he survived this long and this mistake had to be corrected immediately.
3: What happened to the skeletons holding my fairies? Answer: due to the fact that the user temporarily skipped the previously mentioned cycle the monsters that he summoned are to be treated like the scenery in what the entirety of a dungeon that a newborn dungeon possesses (normally just the core room) and thus was gelled and put back in the user via the contain substance ability that host 0 had, plus had their memories wiped (do not worry you do not require a mental wipe nor do “your monsters” (the fairies and plants that you made)),
4: Why did my fairies get gelled as well? Answer: due to the nature of the preventative maintenance that we had to do to the main user, the system can have next to no distractions for the next while as such, the distractions have been removed, it is advisable that you also go back to sleep for the time being; rest assured that the system will wake you up after and you will suffer no harm during that time period.
Well okay then, it leaves me with more questions but I suppose I can ask them later. So I fell asleep, while trusting the system.

Cursed Forest
This is a high fantasy story with horror elements, featuring the map-maker and half-elf Aspen, and his friend Sekafi, a hyena-like humanoid as they are sent on a mission to map out unknown territory and encounter a monster. Soon they're involved in something larger and more dangerous than they ever wanted. What happens next, you'll find out when you read. This is the first story I'm publishing here on RoyalRoad. I wanted to try this site out since it's more geared towards fantasy. I've been at Wattpad for about 2 years under the same name, but since I'm not writing romance I haven't gotten much steam there. This is my latest story, and it's also published on Wattpad in the book called Short Stories. I wanted to start with something new and unfinished here. I'll try and update at least once every other week, sometimes more often. ~RiisingNovels
