《KFC》Chapter 17: The Blood Sword Sect

The Crown Prince clapped slowly and then said, "Good, good, good, what a good Blood Sword sect you are." He motioned to all his people and said, "It seems our family has a good new sister now. I look forward to meeting you and your family at the palace my dear sister." He made a follow-me gesture and then took his people and walked away.
Elder Song shook his head and sighed, "The others will have our asses for this..."
Elder Li shrugged and said, "It's not like we went looking for trouble."
The Elders lead Trampas and his wives through the city and then through a gate with the Blood Sword sect's crest over it. The soldiers at the gate only had Qi Refining cultivations and so they were dead quiet and did not make eye contact with any of them as they passed through.
They walked down a long path that lead to a staircase that went up a steep incline. After reaching the top they found a gate guarded by two Core Formation Blood Sword sect outer disciples. These disciples gave a martial arts salute to the elders and a head nod of acknowledgment to Trampas and his wives who had the gold circle with one red stripe indicating that they were outer sect disciples as well.
After they passed through the sect gate they were greeted by a ground of sect Elders who started to ask questions of Elder Li and Elder Song. "Elder Li, is what you wrote to us, true? You brought back four geniuses at the Core Formation realm from that little Red Runner Clan in Baichi?"
Another Elder gasped, "Core Formation, these children have a cultivation near the peak of Spirit Lake gathering!"
A huge pressure descended on the gathering of elders and a few of them whispered, "The patriarch has come himself!"
The patriarch of the Blood Sword sect looked at Trampas and his wives and raised an eyebrow a deep rumbling voice came from the patriarch who asked, "Which one of you modified my Blood Sword sect's uniform to have the confederate battle flag?"
Trampas looked shocked and raised his hand slightly. "Ok, why don't you come with me, Elders I'll be taking this boy and his wives as my disciples, get them set up as core disciples if you please."
Trampas looked at the girls and motioned for them to wait there as he followed the Blood Sword sect's leader. The two of them walked down a winding path that lead to a tall tower in the middle of the sect. The patriarch asked, "So, where are you from? I know it's not fucking Baichi." He chuckled.

Trampas wasn't sure how much he should say but answered almost by reflex, "Birmingham Alabama, sir."
"That's in the US, right?" The patriarch swiped his hand over a protruding stone next to a stone door on the tower causing the door to snap open violently. "There are quite a few of us here now, you've heard of the eight great sects, right? Well, those were created by people like us who were brought here against our will and given cultivation techniques. Mine for instance was the Blood Sword Cultivation system."
They walked inside and as soon as they passed the door, it automatically closed behind them. The patriarch lead them to a magic circle on the ground in the middle of the tower's first floor. "Top floor, Ciri."
The two of them were flown up to the top of the tower. Once at the top the patriarch gave a follow-me gesture and walked off the circle that hung in the air magically and walked into a room that could be described as an otaku paradise. There were game systems, figurines, manga, models of famous anime ships, and posters on the wall. The patriarch went over and had a seat on a gaming chair and indicated for Trampas to sit down next to him on another gaming chair. "My name is Takahashi Yuta. My friends call me Yuta. So, I'm sure you have questions, feel free to ask."
"Hey man, what do they want? Why did they pick us and put us here?" Trampas looked Yuta in the eye and asked.
Yuta rubbed a hand over his chin in a long pause and then tried to answer, "We don't know exactly, but we get missions when they want or need us to do things for them. Have you ever read any light novels?"
Trampas shook his head, "I'll be honest with you, man, I am not the book type. I watched a little TV, wrestling, and Nascar mainly... Some Fox News."
Yuta nodded and then said, "You died, right? That's what happened to us. I was hit by a truck and killed. The other sect masters all had similar accidents. Then our systems started us with missions. We each have different systems, but they operate about the same way. We get missions and then we get points for the store where we get to buy the things from our real-world here."

Trampas held out his hand and said, "Sorry, man, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm TW." Yuta took his hand in a firm handshake and smiled at him, "I'm probably the first person who knew you were trying for a handshake here. This world is loosely similar to ancient China. If you aren't familiar with ancient China, don't worry. There are a couple of the sect masters who are Chinese and they can give you a little information on the customs. I saw that you had some wives already?"
Trampas nodded and then explained, "Yeah, man. Right after I found myself here the family of this body I found myself in started matching me up with girls. Everything has happened so fast I just kind of went with whatever."
"The first of us is the Emperor, he has three thousand wives. He has been here for about three hundred years. We were all brought here at different times, but all of us are from roughly the same period on Earth. It was 1997 on Earth when I was brought here 150 years ago." Yuta explained.
"It was 2007 on Earth a couple of weeks ago when I came here." Trampas looked confused.
Yuta waved his hand, "Don't try to make sense of it. There are a couple of people from our future here that have been here a long time. The woman who runs the Ice Palace for instance died from a plague that wipes out humanity in 2020. She has been here 200 years. Every time one of us asks her about what life on Earth was like in 2020 she just gets mopey and says, 'Everything is closed so we just watch Netflix and order delivery.' So, we just don't ask anymore."
"So hey, man. Who are they? Who controls the systems?" Trampas looked at Yuta.
Yuta shrugged and then answered, "That's why I asked if you had read any light novels. A couple of us who were fans of those kinds of stories have a theory that the systems are controlled by authors who are writing light novels."
Trampas made a face, "So you are saying that nerds back in our world are writing stories about us?"
Yuta shook his head, "No, think they are beings from a higher dimension. Imagine for a minute that there are infinite dimensions where every possibility no matter how strange is possible. All the imaginary things from our world are actually in existence in some lower dimension. When we died, I believe our souls slipped from our dimension to a lower dimension with the help of these higher dimensional beings."
"The authors?"
"That's right, these authors are just regular people like you and me but they exist in a dimension where we are imaginary." Yuta then walked over and picked up one of his favorite figurines, "Like Princess Purple Porkchops here. On our Earth she is imaginary. What if there exists a place where she is real and has no idea that 'nerds' from our world wrote her story."
Trampas shook his head, "I don't know about all that, man. So you don't know y'all are just guessing, right?"
Yuta nodded and then shrugged, "We have been here a long time, and had this discussion many many times over the years. This is the best that we could come up with in that time. It's not an answer, I know, but it's plausible and that's more than enough until our systems start to give us more of an answer."
Trampas rubbed his forehead looking more confused than before they began talking, "So, is there anything else I should know?"
Yuta nodded, "Not everyone who comes here is a good person. The Emperor, for example, is not to be offended. His cultivation is the highest of all of us, he has reached the divine level. A true god. Even if you want to fight him, you can't. One snap of his fingers and you are dead. So whatever you do, don't piss that guy off."
Trampas nodded and then asked, "What kinds of things piss that guy off?"
"The only thing he dislikes is people messing with his family. Just stay away from his family and you are good to go. He pretty much stays in his harem with his wives."

The Cosmic Interloper
Synopsis: A cyborg transhuman escapes her corporate indenture and through unfathomably unlikely circumstances, she ends up in a fantasy world of full of unique magic, angry people with sharp implements, and the whole flavor-spectrum of divine entities. Hilarity ensues. Features: - No blue boxes or cultivation, this is not a LitRPG nor about martial arts - Hard-ish Sci-Fi meets hard-ish magic - Generally trying to keep this "rational" Rationale: My primary goal with The Cosmic Interloper is to write something that I myself would enjoy reading. Of course, that’s not the only motivation, but I think it’s the most important one for me to keep in mind, especially as the author. In fact, this whole story came about because after consuming oodles of fiction, I found myself craving a very specific type of story which I couldn’t find many examples of. Then I asked myself, “why not write it myself?” and here we are. Disclaimer: In general, while I’m not writing a comedy, I do intend for this story to be funny and a bit wacky or absurd. That said though, I am using this story as a vehicle to explore some potentially dark topics including (but not limited to) slavery, speciesism/racism, and existential questions of self, consciousness, and identity. Still, I’m going to leave the “traumatizing content” tags off, because I don’t feel that what I’ve written so far (or plan on writing) exceeds the threshold that would be necessary for me to tag it thusly. Also, [insert your favorite boilerplate “views expressed” disclaimer here]. I shouldn’t need to say this, but the main character can be wrong on occasion (gasp!) and the way she views the world is not the objective truth (if such a thing even exists).

Tim the Engineer
Summoned against his will to a world of swords and magic, an engineering student struggles to find a way home under the shadow of a world devouring threat. ***************************** Updates: 5/13/19: Revisions to several chapters for clarity, grammar, and style. 4/29/19: A short side story and artwork has been added to the blog. 4/8/19: A Side Story has been updated on my new blog (every writer is required to have one). https://talesfromliahar.wordpress.com/ ***************************** “The summoning scenarios are broken down into groups of ten.” Emi Ito stated. “Don’t, don’t you dare say another word.” Muttered Genzo Uchida. His eyes had turned bloodshot and his hands shook with rage. “The first thirty…” “Shut up!” Genzo bellowed “How dare you help these disrespectful gaijin?” Flecks of spit and madness flew from his face, his fist raised ready to strike. But Emi did not flinch, instead she was about ready to continue when Yuma Takeuchi interrupted her. “Uchida, please,” her sweet sounding words could melt ice. “I think we will have a better chance of getting home if we all work together.” When she glanced up with her sleepy looking eyes at Genzo Uchida he deflated visibly. “Were not getting home.” Uchida said coolly. “Group summoning, large, that puts us in the 60 series. No one came to greet us after five minutes of arrival. That leaves scenarios 68 and 69. In scenario 68 there is something that binds the large group together; they are all classmates or a single family. But thanks to the gaijin” he spit out the word “I think we are scenario 69 with no way home.” Ikko Inoue’s eyes went wide, while Katsukno and Hayata started muttering to themselves. Tim took on a serious look and rubbed his scruffy chin. Emi maintained her stoic expression while trying to find something to refute. McKenzie glanced at Randall and giggled. Randall took the prompting of his teammate and followed up by approaching Genzo. “Uh, so we are in a sixty-nine?” “Yes.” Replied Genzo with the seriousness of someone who’s life was about to end. McKenzie covered her mouth and snickered. “You and me, were stuck in a sixty-nine situation?” Randall pushed with a grin. “Yes, we are all stuck in a sixty-nine scenario together!” Genzo retorted in anger. McKenzie fell on her butt laughing. “What the hell is so funny?” Demanded Genzo, whose face had turned red. “It’s a problem with the automatic translation.” Retorted Tim. Randall, who seemed unable to quit started in again “So, about this sixty-ni…” Genzo interrupted Randall with a swift punch to the face. But, because of their height difference it was a bit of an uppercut that left Randall rattled. Tim and Ikko moved to step in between the two, but Genzo showed no further hostility. Instead he just stared at his clenched fist with such intensity it grabbed the attention of the room. “I unlocked a skill.” He said bluntly. ***************************** This is not a light novel, but people who like light novels should enjoy the themes of this book. ***************************** A Map of the Region
