《KFC》Chapter 18: Meeting her father
Advertisement
After settling into their residence at the Blood Sword sect Trampas and his wives decided to make a trip to the palace and check-in with Princess Chen's father. Trampas felt it was a man's duty to ask the lady's father for a lady's hand in marriage. Trampas had awkwardly had a conversation with Fairy Bai's father and Zi Chyou was an orphan so he was spared in her case. Princess Chen represented a different kind of challenge since they might not even be granted an audience with the Emperor.
The Blood Sword sect's Patriarch decided to join the group since he was worried the Emperor might decide to come to visit him if he didn't lead Trampas personally. The last time the Emperor had paid a visit to Yuta's room, he stole one of his favorite figurines.
Yuta walked in front of the group and greeted the guards, "Can you inform His Majesty that I have arrived. I have brought one of his Daughters and Sons-in-law to greet him."
One of the guards gave a fist over heart salute and then quickly disappeared inside the massive palace gate. A few minutes later an annoyed-looking well-dressed minister walked out in no hurry. He nonchalantly walked a few steps away and then looked over the group. When he saw the bright seal on Princess Chen's forehead he dropped to one knee bowed his head and said, "Your Highness."
Standing back up he motioned for them to follow and as they walked he advised, "His Majesty has been expecting your visit, Princess. When we get there, you will all get on your knees and kowtow three times to the Emperor. Then he will address you. Do not speak until spoken to and if you value your lives, answer only with yes or no to his questions unless he asks for specific information."
The Minister leads them into a giant room with gold pillars spread out every 50 feet or so. There was a large staircase at the end of the hall and upon a platform 20 feet above the floor at the top of the stairs was a golden throne about ten feet tall with a little old man sitting on it. It took a few minutes to walk to the bottom of the stairs where the minister dropped to his knees and kowtowed. Everyone in the group did so as well. Trampas normally would have no part of such nonsense, but the gravity of the moment compelled him to comply.

The Emperor looked down and spoke in a thin reedy voice, "Yuta, how are you old man?"
The Blood Sword sect Patriarch smiled and replied in his deep voice, "I am well Your Majesty, I brought my disciples over to meet you. This is your daughter Ah Chen, Ah Fei's little girl. With her are her husband TW Jefferson, Bai Xiao Yin, and Zi Chyou."
The Emperor ran his hand over his beard and chuckled, "Ohoho it's been a long time since we got any new blood. TW? You must be from the good ol' US of A like me."
Trampas looked up and nodded, "Yes sir, I'm from Birmingham Alabama."
The Emperor looked him over and then asked, "What year were you from, Trampas? I came from 2015 myself. I'm from California."
Trampas looked surprised, "2007, sir."
"From the past then... Well, I'm sure Yuta filled you in on some of the conjectures we have. It's nice to have you with us. Now, let's see my daughter. Come forward child, let me see you."
Princess Chen stood up and walked forward causing the Emperor to whistle, "Did TW give you his cultivation technique?"
"Yes, Father." She blushed slightly and looked down.
"TW, don't give that out to any more girls. The last thing we need is a group of super-powered girls running amuck." He laughed, "Alright I can tell you are nervous as ants under a magnifying glass. Ah Chen, make sure to come and see me every few days or so. I have a bunch of kids but most of you brats are too scared to come to visit me. You can bring TW with you, he's one of my people after all."
Trampas stood up and walked up next to Princess Chen and took her hand, "Excuse me, sir. I was wondering if I could have your blessing to marry your daughter."
The Emperor stood up and pointed at Yuta and made an aha noise, "Yuta, you see this? This is a southern gentleman. Good, good! Yes, TW, you have my blessing. You might be a hick, but you have manners. Manners maketh man!" He called out, "Minister Wong! I hereby decree that a month from today TW and Princess Chen shall be wed here at the palace. Invite all of the heads of the sects and any government officials that seem cool. Ah, including the top people from Baichi. TW's family will need to be here."

Trampas looked back at the other girls and saw intense jealousy and disappointment in their eyes so he cleared his throat and then asked, "Sir, thank you very much, but can the wedding be for all three of my girls and me?"
The Emperor looked annoyed for a mere moment and then a great big smile opened upon his face and he laughed, "Of course, put your minds at ease little girls. The three of you will marry him together. Minister Wong, have their families transportation arranged as well. Send three of my skyships."
Princess Chen started to cry and fell to her knees, "Father, thank you. Thank you so much."
The Emperor shook his head and then said, "My daughter I know I haven't been there for you as you grew up and this is only a token show of my power. Let me spoil you this time and let me give you and your man a proper wedding. Your sisters and husband too, allow me to give you all this small gift." He smiled and then said, "Alright, you can go now. Ah Chen, make sure you come by every few days or so to see me."
Once Trampas, the Blood Sword sect patriarch, and the girls had left the room, the Emperor turned to one of his shadow guards and said, "Test him. If he is unworthy you know what to do. If he is powerful then we shall celebrate having such a man in our family. Blame it on my son if he passes. I'll make him my heir in his place." The Emperor laughed as he walked back to his harem.
After the group had walked about halfway back to the sect Yuta looked around and whispered to Trampas, "TW, that guy will probably send someone to make an attempt on your life. Can you fight?"
Trampas nodded and send, "I don't know any of that karate shit these people use, but I was a scrapper back home."
Yuta nodded and said, "The kung fu they use here is mostly just for show, but some of them are real killers. The guys he has are that type."
"What cultivation?" Trampas thought for a bit.
"Nascent Soul mid or higher," Yuta replied "I recommend carrying a weapon."
"Like what?" Trampas asked.
Yuta pulled out a Glock 26, "Don't you have any in your system store?"
Trampas came to a complete stop and then said out loud, "System show me the store, weapons."
[Hacksaw Jim's 2x4 2000 points]
[Steel Chair 2000 points]
[Folding Table 2000 points]
[Honky Tonk Man's Guitar 1500 points]
Trampas scratched his head and then said, "It doesn't have any guns, just wrestling props."
Yuta laughed, "Yeah, it only has the things it thinks you need based on your fighting style."
Trampas eyed Yuta's pistol and Yuta laughed again, "Sorry, I know what you are thinking, but weapons you get from the store only work for you. Although you might think a 2x4 or a guitar might work for anyone if you hand it to any of us it would just disintegrate."
Trampas frowned and then asked, "Hey with my strength at Spirit Lake Gathering 8th layer, do I have enough strength to kill a guy using a 2x4?"
Yuta thought for a moment and then nodded and said, "It would be like hitting someone with a board traveling at the speed of sound. Our bodies are tough once we get above a certain stage, but they are still human bodies. A bullet can still kill you. A hard punch will still kill you. It's just you move so fast now that when someone of lower cultivation tries to attack you it looks like it is coming at you in slow motion. You have probably seen that already. A guy that has an entire realm of cultivation on you sees everything you do like you are standing still."
Trampas nodded and then asked, "Can you watch over me tonight? I'll cultivate until I get to the nascent soul realm and then I should be able to defend myself."
Yuta gave him a thumbs up and a smile.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
