《No Strings Attached [Rewritten]》Ch 9: A battle that ends

Day 3 of training: Midnight
The forest is filled with so many S-rank beast of many different sizes, let's start the fun. In case you forgot, I have an [Ego] over 800 causing the status effect [Superiorirty]. Even though it doesn't do anything, my [Ego] is causing me to be better than all the animals in the forest. Who better to place my position in the food chain better than those S-rank beast that can injure a hero and companion.
I stroll around the forest whit [Eye shift: Green] still active, I would disable it but that would be giving them to much of a handicap. There's of course some S-rank bunnies and and rats, but they aren't even worthy of my time. They are to weak to suffer my wrath while I'm on my conquest to prove who's the apex predator. Of course I kill them to allow my skills to get exp, it also wouldn't be fair to them if I left them alive.
I order my sticks to attack all creatures who aren't as great as me and kill them. They followed my orders excellently and efficiently, killing any minor creatures in a near instant. Of course there were minor complications involving a bit of the more dangerous beast, but I could easily finish them off we just a finger. Nothing can stand in my path of conquest throughout the forest, even if they are smarter than man. I hear some roars of hogs, they are stampeding towards me but I expected this from a low intelligent creature such as hogs. I switch to beetle form and start forming the pincers. This should be enough of a handicap for them , they'll probably need it.
The hogs charge in, but they are starting to slow down from the snare traps I've been placing around the place. I rush in with the pincers, but they are already lodged in to a hogs thick fur and fat. As I let go, it's breathing starts dying out from blood loss, putting fear into the other boars. They try to run away, but the sticks quickly caught up to them, putting an end to their already doomed life. The sound of hogs screams eco out through the forest, and slowly die out.
"*Tch*, way to easy. Come on god, give me a challenge," I shout, "Oh well, 'Open inventory'." I say. Iro appears in front of me, already gathering the hogs that didn't have the most wounds. She already knows about my condition since she is an angel of God, or at least she tells me. Apparently if I evolve her into a humanoid body, then she will allow me to use her without having to pay. As her master, she was forced to tell me everything when I was in my [Inferiority] state. I have her stay so she can help gather items that drop, this could be good for exp to allow her to evolve.
We wander around the forest looking for stronger beast to slay, but so far there has been nothing but hogs, rabbits, etc, nothing worthing mentioning. This is getting boring rather quickly, I would be hoping the action later would increase but so far nothing. I would call it an end to this small adventure, but my senses tell me to keep exploring. Iro and I tried to play some modern games we knew before we died, but it was rather hard when your opponent doesn't have hands or facial expressions. It was almost time to call it quits until we stumbled upon the jackpot.
In front of us was a cave, but not your ordinary cave. This cave was a natural dungeon and as such, didn't have demons in it. We enter and wander around the maze that it inhabited. There were some some easy monsters like rogue harpies, rogue goblins, and dark elementals. A lesson about monsters that I learned is that if it's rogue, then you are allowed to kill it. Rogue monsters are monsters that reject to live in a kingdom or have lost sanity and as such are labeled as rogues. For instance, if you find a human who has lived in a dungeon, then he is considered rogue human. As such, rogues can give you more experience than regular monsters depending on their level and not yours.
We advance deeper into the dungeon while collecting loot and materials to bring back to camp. We also happened to find gold in the dungeons, but they weren't as much use for demons like us so we just kept it to give to the heroes.
Iro was finally able to level up allowing her to have facial expressions and a bit more slime mass to play around with. Fucking finally, took forever to level her up. Apparently the only way to level her up is with giving her stuff to fill my inventory with, so when she levels up, she asorbs all of the items inside her. So much for giving gold to the heroes, but at least with just me being around they'll be happy. While I was distracted, Iro tried to use her extra mass to make herself slime hair, but ended in failure so she scratched that idea. Now that I thnk about it, doesn't she look scarier with a face on. It may be a simple face but when she shows teeth, it gives me the chills.
Time passes
In front of us was a huge door, with the classic skulls and skeletons lying around. This must be the boss of the dungeon judging by the cliché decorations in the area. I was going to ask Iro to open the door first, but then I remember she doesnt' have hands. Well let's do this, time to beat the boss solo. I open the door to the boos room and enter, the place looked bloody red. There were stains of red everywhere around the place like on the statues, gold, weapons, everything else you find in a dungeon. Makes sense since this is a dungeon in a forest with only S-ranked monsters. The only thing out of place is the statue in the middle of the room, it's the only one without blood on it. Guesing the boss is going to be a golem of some kind with only physical abilities supporting it.
"Iro, go pick up any valuables in here while I beat this boss." She gives me a face of approval and I advance near the statue. Who ever made this golem was very good at chiseling, it looks so life like. The statue had four arms with ripped muscles and giant fucking swords. Each blade look like it can cut an army in half, by the looks of it, it has enchantments on them. With the title [Walking Translator], I was quickly able to read each enchantments. There was the first enchantment fire, second echantment thunder, third echantment water, and the final echantment air. Enough stalling, it's time to fight the boss.
How do I wake this golem up, is there a trigger or something? I feel around the swords for a switch or something but I couldn't find one. At the bottom of the statue, there were text in a forgotten language. Judging from the context of the surroundings, I figure I have to do a spell of some kind. Then I sense someone presence in the room that wasn't mine's or Iro's.

"Hey Jane, mind helping me out with something." I said while smiling. Jane falls from the roof of the place with a nervous smile around her face. I guess she's been following me for a while now, eh she was probably curious about where I was going. I lead Jane towards the statue and ask her to use a spell to wake the statue. She starts to draw magic energy from the area and focuses it near the statue. This must be what she used to wake me up from that drug effect yesterday.
The statue starts to crack, and some real armor starts to show. The armor's color was as dark as obsidian but the polish was shiny. Some light got reflected into my yellow eye, but that was fine. Probably should've gathered some weapons from those goblins now that I think about it but whatever. Flames started to erupt of the sword, causing an ireggular air flow, making it harder to breathe. Hm. . . why didn't I use spit on the statue to order it to awaken, then I wouldn't have had to use Jane for this.
The statue is finally gone and standing in the middle was a Djinn. I totally expected this to be a Djinn, don't know what you're talking about. Anyways, I need to quickly start fighting. The Djinn in armor cocked its head to face towards me, then slowly approached me. Aura wise, it's very menacing but it by the looks of it, it has different intentions than what it gives off.
"Are you the one who freed me?" It says.
"You can say that, so are we going to fight or what." I confidently say. It then drops kneels down on one knee like knights usually do.
"Thank you for freeing me from this terrible curse. I've been stuck her for so long that my back is starting to hurt and this armor is starting to smell and my blades were rusting." It says femininely. This badass knight is a woman, I can't believe it. I thought she was just going to be genderless. Although I do like how she is praising me like I am the king, that's right bow down to your savior, worship ME.
{+50 stat in [Ego]}
{[Ego] now at 941/1000. You are experincing a buff call [Superiority]}
Damn right I am superior, I am the Hero of Demons for god sakes, I should be praised.
"So are you not going to fight me?" I say while trying to hide my superiority.
"Why would I, will rather follow you and your companion here if I may." she responds. Although I may have not gained any experience from this, I now have a loyal follower who will follow me. A contract then appears in front of my view.
Remedy Pierce would like to form a contract with you
'I shall with all my power protect you from any threats.'
Contract: Bodyguard
Time: Forever
|Yes|No|
"I accept thy contract. From this day fowards you shall be my loyal guard, be honoured you get to serve a great person like me." I say is a kingly tone.
What the heck is happening?! First I see Jay's mood swing from weak to strong feeling, then he tried to solo a boss without telling us, and now the boss he was supposed to fight is now worshipping him. It's to hard follow that even if I told Glenn or the other girls, they wouldn't understand. I don't care anymore, I just want to go back and sleep with Glenn, but I am supposed to be taking care of Jay.
"Jay, shouldn't we be heading back to the others." I whined out.
"But I don't want to, I haven't even killed something strong yet." Jay complained.
"Don't talk to my liege like that." The Djinn says. She is already talking like that, it's only been 1 minute though.
"It's almost 2 though, come on."
"Oh crap it is, we better get going. I'll just introduce them to you in the morning." Jay quickly rushes the front exit with both of us in his hands, but he is to weak to pull us. I sigh any pull him to the exit with the help of the Djinn. With the help of Jay, we were able to navigate the forest without fail. I feel like we forgot somesone though but what ever, I will probably remember when I fall back into Glenn's embrace.
We arrive at the campsite and go to our sleeping spots. The girls and I like to huddle around Glenn and Jay usually does his own thing. I'ts usually sad to see him sleep all by himself but he's usually the one who does the most work around here so it probably doesn't bother him much.
I was about to fall asleep untill I heard Jay start discussing about something. Glenn doesn't approve of eavesdropping, but I will risk it to know what he is talking about. My hearing zones in on Jay's conversation, seems like he is speaking with the Djinn.
"Are you up for it Remedy?" Jay says.
"Yes, but are you sure about this." Remedy says.
"It's fine, as long as we keep quiet we should get away with this scott free."
"Whatever you say, just be easy, you don't want anything to break now do you."
"It's alright, I am experienced in this field, just follow my lead." Are they talking about sex right now, are they going to have sex near us?! I wanna peak so badly but it would be embarrassing to catch them in the middle of the act. I cover my ears so I don't hear them, it would be really embarrassing to call them out.
"Ok, first we need to dig this area out right here, it should be around the size of a regular bedroom." What? What are they talking about? Why do you need to build somethingg about the size of a bedroom.
"Finished lord Jay." But it's only been a few seconds.
"Good, next we need a table and bedframe. Also if you can, can you make a mattress that would be great."
"Finished again." What's with that insane speed, what agility does she have?!
"Also where would you be sleeping?"
"Djinn don't need sleep unless we are lacking mana so I will just be guarding your room."
"Ok, but if you need anything just ask me and I'll sketch the plan."
"I will keep that in mind my lord."
It looks like they stopped whatever they were doing, but I can't help wonder about that Djinn. Why was she turned to stone in the first place? I should discuss this with Glenn and the others tommorow. For now I should just enjoy the feeling of being in Glenn's arms.
Day 4 of training
I wake up after a long night of following Jay around the forest and in the dungeon. Jay wakes up before the rest of us as usual so we can't find him for breakfast but he at least left a note for us.
'Dear hero and party,
Due to an unforseen circumstance, I have to do things. But don't worry I left Iro:The slime and Remedy:The djinn in armor. I will be back soon so don't worry about that, if you need materials just ask Iro and she'll give you stuff that I left in there. If a random best attacks, then don't worry since Remedy is there.
Sincerely,
Jay W. Blu'
Huh, what does he have to do thats so important. Well we should be use to this, he usually walks away in the morning. If I remember Iro should have some meat inside here from the slaughter spree Jay went on yesterday. I quietly walked over to Iro and reached down into her, she must be his inventory if I looked at his skills correctly. I felt around Iro to try and find the rabbit meat stored inside her. Hm ,where is it? I swear Iro gathered at least some meat from Jay.
"Let me guess lookin for the meat?" Iro said, it can talk!
"Yeah, what happened to it?" I said.
"Sorry, absorbed it all to evolve. Jay is probably going somewhere to kill something for us so don't worry about it."
"But I need to make breakfast, and Jay doesn't come back until really late, even then he wanders off again." I panicked.
"If you are worried about breakfast then I could go get some for us." Remedy said confidently.
"Really you would that?"I say, she nods."You are the best remedy!"I shouted as I hugged her. She then leaves to go hunt some meat for us. Wait, I will have to introduce her to the group, god damnit Jay why did you have to leave.
Jay has woken up from his short sleep, complaining that he's been cold so it's hard to fall asleep. I offered to use my body to warm it up, but he rejected it saying it's fine. I've noticed that Jay is very pure even though he is very cocky when it comes to fighting. When I first arrived here, I was very disgusted to see a hero with his sleeping party in the presence of lord Jay, but I have to tolerate to not anger him. I overhear the companion talking about not having any ingredients so I offer to help by hunting.
I leave the campsite that Jay built using some materials he found, which increased my respect for him by a mile. It's been about 14 since I've been a battle so this should be good practice to protect Jay. He's saved me from 14 long years of being a stone statue because of that fucking little girl maid. I wonder what happened during the years when I was gone, how much has changed while I was turned to stone. If only that maid didn't turn me to stone, then I would be in my 30's but I guess this is the perks of being turned to stone, I get to keep my youth.
While basking in the grace of youth, I noticed Jay sulking on a corpse. I approach him and ask him whats wrong.
"Remedyyy, I was considered not worthy of attacking by an S-rank tiger."He said while whining. Is he acting right now? I still dont know him sell enough so it's hard to tell, but his crying face is really cute. I start patting his head to try an calm him down which seems to work. It would probably be best to start cheering him up, well I guess I could get some help with the task.
"What if we go hunt that S-rank tiger and bring it back to camp, how about that?" It's like treating a child to a new toy after he breaks it. By the looks of it, he seems elated when I said that so we started to search for a tiger.
We wander through the woods looking for a tiger. Apparently he met an albino tiger and was excited to kill it, but he was ignored as not worthy prey by the tiger. I hear a roar coming from behind us and I get ready for a battle. A tiger came through the bushes, but they weren't white. I kill them with [Thunderbolt] and skinned them for there fur. We continue to walk for a long time until we found the actual tiger.
The tiger was fucking huge, he probably saw Jay as a light snack. I ready Fynx and read the incantaions. It lights on fire and the flames whip around. Probably wasn't the best idea to start a fire in the thick part of this forest, but at least it will create a clearing. I charge in and swing the flame towards the tiger with full force, but he quickly dodges despite his size.
The tiger pounces in, swinging it's giant claw foward and cutting down trees. It's only been a day since i've made that contract and Jay is danger. My top priority is to get Jay to safety, but right now killing this tiger later might be a danger in the future. I then activate Lyre and point it at the tiger. I start to channel my man through it and activate it's lightning. A beam of lightining is charged towards the tiger, although it misses the splash damage manages to get the tiger. Jay starts to help by using his skill to control the sticks while trying to block some of the attacks with his arachne legs.
Why is this tiger so fucking hard, it's like he is a rank above S. I use [Idenentify] him to check it's health, it is at 1566/3400. Wow our attacks are wearing it down by quite a lot. That is expected with the help of Jay, he can probably one-shot a bear with his hands. He is an amazing man who saved me from a cure so I expect no less from him, only more. No time to be worshiping him, I should be protecting him from the tiger.
Since the tiger is at very low health, I decided to Weiss and Asc. Using Weiss I creater water shots throut the air while with Asc I speed them up and move them around the way I want. Also I help Jay's projectiles spped up, but he probably didn't need my help. I am all the shots towards the knee while Jay aims for the paws, cauing the tiger to limp and thus move a lot slower. Jays stops me from finishing it off saying he wants to do it, he is so just too amazing to refuse.
Jay walks towards the nearly dead tiger, his spider legs stretch out and relax to prepare to kill. This scene looks so cool with Jay there, if only I had a record crystal on me.
S-rank Albino Tiger: (1/3400)
All the legs strike at once, aiming at the eyes and neck.
-1
S-rank Albino Tiger: (0/3400)
Jay has leveled up, revealing hidden title.
Jay has uncovered the title [Dead weight]. Would you like to read?
Hm? What is this. I accept to read the title that was uncovered.
Title uncovered
[Dead weight]
Jay can not raise any stat higher than 0. If cheated, then friends, party, and him will be annilhilated by me.

Though not the only one and not the most important, this is one of the reasons I decided to start writing this novel. 3: I do not own the artwork used as a cover, I found it on google, I liked it A LOT and decided to use it. Unique Fusion Magic Hex
World Essence. The mysterious energy coursing throughout the entire land of Vor'ten, and very possibly the entire world. This energy has allowed humanity to flourish, building great empires and vast kingdoms, conquering nature itself with just a sweep of their hand. Humans were the strongest existence, and with the help of channeling this World Essence, many were able to turn into Magic Knights, gaining magical abilities to combat the various fierce beasts throughout the lands.Alas... those glory days of old were long gone. Humanity has now been pushed to the brink of destruction, and now the remaining members of the human race are encased within giant domes known as 'Alkkras', made with the last remaining bits of the World Essence. It was said that those giant domes were the last gifts left by the remnants of the ancient human race, as a means to protect the future generation from the attacks of the many wild beasts roaming outside. Five Spiritualist Invokers, all combined together, used the last bit of the World Essence and sacrificed their lives to lay a gigantic, 1028-seal formation magic array to form these barriers, forever saving humanity, but also trapping humanity within these barriers. However, the humans were never completely helpless. No matter how little World Essence was left, the humans still had some remaining. Realizing the incoming crisis, the humans found a way to seal World Essence inside a special type of crystal. Soon, these crystals began to become implanted into weapons, turning them into World Essence Weapons, and they began to display properties of their own. Extreme heat. Bone chilling cold. Absurd sharpness. These normal weapons, after being imbued with the energy of the World Essence Crystals, began to form natural affinities to elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Wind. Darkness. Light. Using these weapons, one could become a Chevalier that wielded the power of the elements. However, if one wanted to reach a higher level of enlightenment and understanding, one could become an Invoker. Via the study of magic array formations, one could directly use the power of the World Essence to cast devastating magics upon the enemy. These people were Invokers, highly valued for their combat potential by the Army. These weapons and magical arrays were used in the great fight between the humans and the beasts long ago. They had long since been put away in storage, almost long forgotten...However, after ten-thousand years of suppression, the human race is beginning its counterattack against the Beasts... Synth was an Invoker in the Magecroft Academy. However, his talent was terrible, being only at the Spark Stage. This led to him being looked down upon and bullied. He was unable to cast any Calamity-rank or even Destruction rank spells, and was only able to cast Coalescing rank spells at the age of 17, a record low in the academy for cultivating these rare Invokers. Even though he put in more effort than anyone else, he was still unable to advance his Channeling Energy. But due to his constant research and study, Synth ended up creating a power that would go against the heavens - he had found how to Fuse spells together. After trying it out once, merging the magical array for the Small Fireball and the Mortal Judgement skills, he was able to create a mid-rank Destruction tier spell, Holy Judgement Flame. However, after this, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to fuse more spells together or even cast them, and noticed a weird, pentagram shaped formation on his left arm. He would later call this mark the Fusion Magic Hex, a curse that prevented the wielder from casting magic that wasn't their own...This meant that with the exception of Synth's newly created skill, , he was going to have to create unique magic arrays if he ever wanted to step on the path of becoming an Invoker! This power that destroyed the laws of the Invoking System, and his unyielding persistence in testing and creating new spells, would later gain Synth the nickname the Unique Fusion Hex, and lead him to become one of the strongest beings in the entire World!
