《The Coin of Fate》Chapter 47 time to improve

"The third type... is basically something that's not a humanoid or an animal.
They are called monsters, there aren't many of them either.
For us faery the monsters are seen the same way as the animals.
Some are really interesting, others... totally useless, it feels like a waste to even write about them.
So I won't!"
-Bee May, the faery of knowledge
"Why bother to write about something so irrelevant as monsters?"
Little Wolf was being tortured! Mira was teaching him nothing! He was being beaten without a reason, when he was awake he had to fight her but, every move, every trick that he tried were useless. Mira was just too strong, too fast, she was toying with him, he knew that. Little Wolf was trying to read her, find a pattern from her fighting style, find her flow. Her flow changed so fast, every time Little Wolf tought he found something he could use... It turned out to be a trap left by Mira so that she could beat him even harder. He did not even know how much time passed, Mira fought him until he fainted and when he woke up, she started hitting him if he tried to stall. He was always with almost no Demonic energy, he felt tired. The time he had before being made unconcious was getting shorter and shorter. Obviously whatever Mira was thinking was not working for him!
Mira knocked Little Wolf unconcious yet again.
"He's getting faster and more accurate, uh?"
Said Sidon.
"Yeah, he's a little monster, he's so desperate, so exhausted that he stopped thinking. His instincts are showing now, he's wasting less Demonic energy and he can feel when I move a lot of kinetic energy."
Admitted Mira.
"Seeing him struggle like that, it reminds me when I was a little boy, trying to beat the adults. It gets my blood pumping."
Said Sidon, a crimson glint flashed from his eyes for an istant.
"You could join us, you know?"
"Nah, I'll stay with my love until I know she's fine."
"She's inside the cocoon, she will come out when it's time."

"I'll stay by her side until it's time. Look, he's waking up again."
"Eh, have it your way."
BOOOOM. BOOM, BOOM.
"Took you three hit this time, getting sloppy?"
"Nah, that little shit felt my accumulation of kinetic energy and blocked the first big hit. Had to give him two less powerful ones to knock him out."
"He's getting used to you."
"I'm just playing around, if I fought him seriously, I would probably destroy all of his Demon's Hearts with a single hit."
Little Wolf eyes could follow Mira's muscles, how they moved, where she was putting the power, what she would move next. It was mostly useless because of that damned kinetic energy! Even if her muscles moved like she was about to hit hard, it could become a feint if she assorbed the kinetic power of that hit and a light hit could have all the kinetic energy she accumulated and send him flying. He started to see a haze around Mira's body when she used her kinetic energy, or what Little Wolf thought it was kinetic energy. Seeing it coming did not help much but, he felt that finally something was improving.
Hey, why do you keep your hair in a braid? What do you mean why? If I keep my hair loose, it will fly around and be distracting and, she could grip my hair and use it against me. The White Stalkers have long hair for a reason. Because their skin is so white, the White Stalkers cannot hide easily on a forest or mountain terrain. So they have long hair, usually it's green or brown, a color that will help them mimetize with their surrounding. You have the same red hair of Joy, she had no need to hide, she is the beacon of the White Stalkers, everyone needs to know where she is. The red beacon made the hunters flee and become hunted. When Joy fought, she used her hair as a curtain to hide her body, so that the predators did not know where she was. If someone tries to grip your hair just let out some Demonic energy through them.

Little Wolf had nothing to lose, he was gonna get beaten to unconsciousness again anyways.
"Wait a second, I want to try something."
He asked.
"Uh, sure go for it."
Mira was surprised but she stopped, she was curious.
Little Wolf started to loosen his braid. When he was done, he started to shake his head so that his hair could move and cover his body. Then he started to try moving around a little, he was right, his hair was distracting him and obscuring his sight.
You don't have only sight, use your nose, your ears. Don't think like a weak human, you have the senses of a White Stalker USE them. You are better than a normal White Stalker, you are Awe LITTLE WOLF! son of Joy, you are a Demon's body, you are full of Demonic energy. Everythign around you is made of Elemental Spirits, you can drain them to become stronger, you don't need eyes, you don't need your normal senses. Just feel your Demonic energy and feel what is around you.
Little Wolf tried, he closed his eyes and tried to feel... something? It did not really work, he did not know what he was searching for... PREY, YOU ARE SEARCHING FOR PREY! DO IT LIKE THIS!
Little Wolf felt his three hearts beat at the same time, the pulsing sound hypnotizing. I was echoing inside his body, he could feel the outside too, he could hear it better, he could feel the heat and the cold on his skin, on his hair. His hair! He could feel the air move through them, he could feel something around him, it was confusing, too much too fast! He tried to close his senses a little, to focus on something else. It was hard but he could feel around him, without sight. It was really distracting and he probably could not fight well with so much of his mental energy focused on sensing his surrounding.
"Ok, I think I'm ready for another beating."
Said Little Wolf.
"Uh? Sure, here I come."
Said Mira as she charged.
Little Wolf could feel her moving, while everything around him was filled with life, she was a burning sun! How strong was she really? No matter, he could feel her, he could feel her flow!
Little Wolf with his hairs down moved much better, Mira had to admit that his new way of thinking worked. His long hairs hid his body, so it was harder to focus on a single part of his body and, if she were to go for his head it would be obvious and easier to dodge.
After a while of just dodging, Little Wolf started to get tired, he had to act fast! So he tried hitting back, he moved with his hair as a cover and tried to hit from unespected angles. Mira was surprised but dodged anyways, she gripped his hair with a hand.
Finally! Thought Little Wolf as he sent a burts of Demonic energy through his hair into her hand. Mira hissed from the improvvise pain of her flesh getting eaten by Demonic energy. Little Wolf stabbed with his hand towards Mira's face, it was its best hope to score an hit on her! She dodged at the last moment but, the sharp nails on Little Wolf's hand left a scratch on Mira's cheek.
Mira felt blood leave her body for the first time. She felt danger, she had not felt something like this in years. The faery did scare her but that was natural, she could never beat a faery. No normal being made her feel danger in so long. She snapped.
She gripped Little Wolf's hair with both hands and started to slam him on the ground hard, once, twice, thrice, she started to slam him faster and faster.
She let him go, she could not move, she could not control her body, the water inside her... No, not only the water, even her blood was stopping her. She tried to use kinetic energy, when it did not work she tried with the Elemental Spirits. The water from the pond rose and enveloped her. She was brought inside the pond and down, down in the water, where it was dark.

Almave
Welcome to AlmaVé. First thing you have to know is that it's a tragedy. Nope, not talking about my book yet. It's a tragedy that you're reading this instead of clicking on chapter 1. I did fail speech introductions after all. My story? Right that's what you're here for. My bad, try this: Lilia Hammond is reborn (cliché, but we all know we enjoy it when it's done for a purpose) as Syndra Sanmey. She was a graphic designer who hadn't caught her break yet. She was paralyzed for months before she was offered the opportunity to join a program that would allow her to-NOPE! not virtual reality. The doctors killed her and dumped her body. Tough. In her new world, Lilia has to fight herself to find out who she truly is. With the possibility to cast magic and a second chance at life, Lilia thinks she can really make something for herself. Her goal? Become the greatest artist the world had ever seen. The rub? World is a bit darker than anything she saw on earth. Thankfully, Lilia is getting quite familiar with the darkness inside her and her magic might just be the thing to save the-hey! wait it's not that kind of book. No saving the world. No hero syndrome. Just magic and blood and a bit of crafting. Yup. Fighting. Romance? Eh? What's that? The first arc is Lilia's shift from Earth to creating backstories for the three major characters. It's not funny and light. It's often dark and funny. Ah, I really should have gone through a punk-rock phase. Or goth. Would I look good with black hair? Hmm.. There are three MCs and they are Jackson, Daryl, and Lilia/Syndra. Daryl is currently kidnapped and Jackson just awakened his magic. I don't want to spoil (much) but soon things will be very fun to write. Hope to see you there! Leave a comment even if you're just stopping by so I can say hey! Chapters to be published twice weekly. At The Lions Gate
In the 20th century America reinvented itself. Devastated by depression, scarred by war, rocked by a revolution, Americans banded together to preserve their country and their freedom. They had faith in themselves, faith in one another, and for those who believed…faith in God. This novel tells the story of one American who lived through those turbulent years….years that would test his character and the character of a nation. For Josh Sanders it begins in 1935. A star athlete in school, pro football is a ticket out of poverty during the Great Depression; but when his father, a WWI veteran, is killed during a robbery, Josh’s spirit is broken, and with it his boyhood dream. To honor his father Josh joins the war effort in 1942, distinguishing himself as a fighter pilot, until a fateful decision near the end of the war changes the course of his life once again. But many years later, after a stint as a boxer and a failed marriage, Josh finds his calling…at a time when the country is at war with itself. The year is 1968. King and Kennedy have been killed, race riots are breaking out, and Vietnam has become an albatross, causing massive protests across the country. In the streets of San Francisco Josh watches a crowd of students march for peace. As a veteran he’s conflicted, toward the war and those who oppose it. But when he encounters Rosy Goldin, a spirited young protester in need of help, a voice from the past calls him to action. His good intentions are soon tested when Rosy falls in love with the fugitive anti-war activist Erick White, a young man determined to oppose the war at all costs, against the wishes of his own father. Fearful of what happens to Rosy, Josh confronts Erick, unwilling to be part of his plan to escape…until he meets the boy’s father. A high-powered criminal attorney, Karl White is also a flag-waving patriot demanding that his son follow the law. But as White makes his case Josh is jolted by a painful war-time memory, a crisis of conscience that will soon determine the fate of Rosy Goldin and Erick White.
