《Dragon's Misery》At the river

We slept against each other warmed by the heat of the fire.
A day saved. Our claws were getting stronger and our scales were getting harder. That in itself was more reassuring. But we were hungry.
My trap was finished and all we had to do was place it.
I found hemp and put it in my gibecière. We caught frogs and eggs in a nearby nest. Then we arrived near a stream.
"Help me take these stones" I asked her, but she didn't understand anything!
"Raah, that's not true!"
I complained.
I set up the trap and put the frog's giblets in it.
Then a fire was prepared to protect and keep away predators.
There were no caves, so we made a bigger fire
"Do you understand? Huh? The fire NEVER LIGHTS OUT!"
"FIRE PROTECTS US WOLVES LIONS!"
"Lion big wolves"
She started crying and hiding behind me.
"Come on, come on, I'm here, I'm watching over you, but when I sleep, you look, okay? You're not asleep!"
Then I spun the hemp into rope and ended up having string after an hour.
I made a noose and the other end attached to a stake on small paths, I made snares and kept a rope to make a wicker trap to catch birds.
In the evening, we had berries, frogs and some fruit and mushrooms.
I cook on a twig what I knew but I didn't dare to cook the others. We didn't know anything about this world, actually.
The night went by without any trouble but there were traces of a mountain lion running around.
In the morning, I say, "We'll dig here."
I went to work and she did the same. It was exhausting but I could see that she trusted me completely and wanted me to be proud of her. I rewarded her with a kiss.
After a 2-metre by 3-metre hole, bevelled bamboos were planted and the trapdoor was covered with twigs and leaves. Where I saw the tracks.
The day was well advanced when we went to drink from the river and see the trap.
It was full and I was proud of myself.
My little sister was happy and understood the usefulness of making a trap. Then we went through the snares and there were 2 juicy rabbits waiting for us.
She immediately began to braid the hemp, salivating at the thought of juicy rabbits.
But that would not be enough.
Fish are easier, but you have to turn around. What works once rarely works a second time in the same place.
At night, a rail was heard and there was a lion impaled on the spikes.
I took my sword and planted it at the base of his neck and he died instantly.

Fresh good meat cannot be refused and the lion meat is roasted in the fire and the carcass left to the wolves to have peace. I recovered the skin and it was tasted by chewing the skin while walking to another destination.
So we continued our journey along the river and there were salmon jumping off the rocks to lay eggs upstream.
We ventured a little in the rapids to put the trap but I had a surprise: Another trap!
Someone was coming here!
Distrust!
The river was supposed to be about 7 meters wide and the maximum depth 1 or 2 meters in places, otherwise, generally 30-40 centimeters of depth.
It was encased in a small valley and during the escarpments, we could not follow it and we had to climb.
Then voices were heard,
HUMAN VOICES!!!
A lot of voices...
We climbed the deciduous trees and stood still.
A troop of riders, with rangers and hunters were on horseback and going up the river and up to the mountain.
Horses were pulling a cart and important people in it and then followed armored archers and there were about a hundred of them.
I knew where they were going!
They were going to settle the score with my father.
One of the hunters jumped off his horse and went to the campfire. They paused and the man searched and saw our footprints.
He told something strange and came across a snare and it was a long discussion between them. They followed the trail of the cave and arrived in my father's footsteps. Much bigger and much bigger:
Trapper 1 (the one with the collar):
"Lord Star, look what I found. This is the first time I have ever seen an object made by anyone other than a human. There are traces of 2 dragonnets, probably hunted or hunted by Ignar the Madman. They must starve to death. The traces are lost in the river where I found a trap made by a dragon. Cuts and marks of teeth and claws are evident. They must have an intelligence like a human. It's very dangerous.
One of them knows how to start a fire. You can see traces of paws and tools.
Spikes are being cut and we just came across the remains of a mountain lion. He fell into a sophisticated trap. Here are the traces of ignar the Madman. He must have grabbed one of the dragonnets and then let him run away. "
A few hours later, they arrived at the corpse of the dragoness.
Trapper: "What a monster, he thinks that if you killed another dragon, you'd think it was him. Well done, but we didn't fall for it. He signed his death warrant by killing her: Look where she fell from: you can see her den up there. The mother had to defend her dragons who fled. He even ate her halfway. What a monster."

"Lord, we've come for Ignar, but what are you doing with the dragonnets?"
Star: "I want to see him alive, I'd like to see a dragon that's not a beast for once"
A few hours later, a battle raged, the outcome of which was certain.
My sister and I ran off like an Englishman and found ourselves at the edge of the forest, between woods, fields and the river.
On the way, I put some snares on and came face to face with an old man.
I was surprised, he put snares on too and talked to me. I didn't understand anything, but I listened:
"Hello Kid, don't be afraid, I'm blind, I won't hurt you. Do you put snares too? You must be hungry. Come home, I'll teach you how to hunt."
He didn't look at me and I understood it when I saw his white eyes.
My sister was terrified and I signaled to her not to move.
He took the rabbits and waved at me to follow him:
"Ah, there are two of you.
If you are bandits I am very poor"
-do not understand anything...
"John."
"My name,
John
John.!"
Ah. His name is John.
I'm attempting " shoon "
"Ssshooon"
"Johhnn"
"John."
"Yes, that's right," he says.
"You don't talk, do you?"
"Vermitrhaxa"
"Vermitrhaxa?.. Funny name." repeated the old man.
"Funnnnny noum." I tried
"Ah you're trying to talk.!
Come on, I'll teach you."
We walked together and he sang a song and I tried to imitate him.
He wanted to touch me to see me, but I was backing away.
They crossed a wooden bridge and heard my heels rattling.
He stopped and turned around.
"Are you a lizard man?"
He hoisted a few words that I didn't understand anything.
I replied," John."
He says "bridge".
I was repeating "bridge."
He took a stone and said "stone."
I was repeating "stone."
Then "water."
Then "drink
Then he wanted to make fire and I brought back branches and dry wood and I lit fire.
He then says "Fire"
I kept repeating the words and my sister tried too, but it was terrible. The hardest thing for her was that she didn't even have the words in draconic to express the objects so she learned the common, the language of men instead of the draconic.
We shared the rabbits and I gave my game. So he could "look."
"Ohh, what you are so valuable!!"
"Book" for the 2 volumes and "Grimoire" for each of them. The word grimori made me tilt. and I understood and said in French: Magic?
John: "Ahh, you know the lost language then. You've come a long way."
-do not understand anything!
Grrr it's hard and I started crying. But a crying dragon is not exactly like a child. A child will do Ouiiin and I will do Iiiiiiiii IIII like dogs.
He felt my sword. : "What a beautiful sword! I know it! I forged it myself!"
do not understand anything But
I repeated "Sword"
Then he touched and smelled the mushrooms and threw some and he touched the frogs and said poor, do you eat that?
he took the frog and I repeated the word.
Then he took the book, opened it and said, feeling with his fingers, sorry, his eyes
and he showed his eyes and cried.
Touched, I took my paw and put it on his hand as a kindness.
He was seized!
"You're a demon who came to eat me!"
I then put my paw under his hand so that he can touch me and I put myself on all fours.
"John""Daddy" say I didn't know how to say anything else.
He sighed and put his hand on my head and felt my scales, my crest, my long neck, my wings and my back then my tail and legs.
"Dragon. "
I was repeating "Dragon"
"You're a dragon" talking?? Are you a dragonet? And she's your sister.
Nothing understood but I understood "dragonnet" which meant young or small dragon.
"You're going to eat me then!.."
He crawled on all fours on his knees and stretched his throat so that I could finish him off.
I kissed him on the cheek and cried. Then I stroked his hair and helped him to straighten up.
"Ah, you're a nice dragon then" whisper.
I handed him the book.
"Ah, you want to learn to read a book"?
"Book repeated I said."
"Rabbit Yummy Yummy," I said.
My sister repeated rabbit yum yum yum"
"Yum Yum Yum Yum Eat"
"Eat" we rehearsed without making a mistake.
HAHAHAHAH, he laughs at all the companions they are the craziest!
"Let's go and train the dragons then" and we walked from snare to snare and the harvest was good.
We went home and lay on the floor on a skin and he on his bed.
But the next day, the three of us were all against each other.
We first learned to talk and I could easily start a conversation with him after 10 days of evenings and walks.
We became experts in snares and like his isolated house in an old village abandoned by wars and lack of inhabitants, he had stayed. He was a blacksmith and his forge was broken and abandoned.

The Card Thief of Culnivar
Deep with the cozy kingdom of Daeton, among the generation-old farmlands and villages, a young farmer’s daughter stumbles upon a dead man. His elaborate clothing has been torn to ribbons, yet his skin remains unblemished. His face is peaceful, and tucked into the hand lying across his chest can be seen a solitary playing card. He is a Ludum Haeres. The last remnant of a Summoner. Numbered among those few capable of changing their destinies. The unseen rulers of the world known as Vesperia, and one of the most powerful creatures in existence. The woman knows none of this. And so, she picks up the card... This is my third novel on Royal Road, the first being "Beyond the Horizon's Eye", and the second being "The Dawnfire Archives". This story is something of a test in a new genre, that of CardLIT. We'll see how well it succeeds as the story continues. It takes place in a different setting than my other tales, with an entirely new cast of characters. It does, however, contain several ties between the stories. Average post between 1000 - 3000 words.
