《Blaze》Chapter 6 - Ready to Rest

Serah casually strolls along the river, humming memorable songs as she tries to enjoy the day. She peaks at the little kitty following her and smiles. “Say, what's your name?” She asks, half-expecting a magic kitty to speak.
“Meoww.” The kitty calls out.
“Hmm… Not a talking kitty, I see. What about Shadow? You have black fur and you’re always following me around. Your full name will be ‘Serah's Cute and Fluffy Shadow’ but I'll call you Shadow for short.” She says, amused.
“Meoww.” The kitty calls again.
Serah smiles, satisfied. “Shadow, it is.” She says as she continues to walk forward.
“Say, Shadow, can you do any magic tricks? You are a magic kitty, right?” Serah asks, curious.
“Meoww.” The kitty calls out. Suddenly, the kitty’s black figure becomes incorporeal and she disappears.
Serah’s eyes widen. “Kitty! Where’d you go!?” She asks, bewildered.
“Meoww.” The kitty calls out from a different location. She was on a tree branch in the distance.
“Wow. Now, that’s a magic kitty.” Serah says, impressed.
…
…
Serah continues to walk when Shadow suddenly lets out a meow. “What is it kitty?” Serah whispers.
The kitty stands on its legs and raises its arms while making a scary face as she lets out a hiss.
“Ah, monster. Okay, lead the way. Maybe we can sneak up on it.” She says as she gets on her tippy toes.
Following after the kitty quietly, Serah approaches a clearing where a huge boar was eating some familiar red berries. Serah’s eyes widen. “Bastard. It’s eating my berries.” Serah exclaims. She slowly unsheathes her sword, and allows a purple glow to envelop it, then, with a swift slash, a blade of magical energy flashes forward and cuts deeply into the large boar’s neck.

The boar lets out a squeal of pain as blood flows out of the deep cut on its neck, unhindered. The boar quickly turns around with what little time it had left to look for the aggressor but couldn’t find anyone. Serah stayed huddled behind a bush, trying to stay out of sight.
In its pain and futile struggle, the boar went mad. It starts charging and crashing into random trees, causing many to fall, until, eventually, it had no more energy to continue, and it collapses onto the ground.
Serah smiles. “We’re eating meat tonight, Kitty.” She says, satisfied.
…
…
Serah butchers the meat to the best of her ability, wrapping it in leaves and packing her backpack until it was full. She also cleaned out the rest of that berry bush. She seemed unable to give them up.
She boiled some sliced boar meat in her small saucepan and squeezes a ton of berries into it for flavor. She imagines, it wouldn’t taste that great, but she had to take what she could get; unfortunately she had no salt.
Serah tries out the meat and it wasn’t too bad. The flavor was pretty weird but it was edible. As for the soup… It tasted amazing. Serah drank what she could. Eventually, unable to help herself, she simply boiled the squeezed berries, hoping to make a sort of tea with it. And… Her hunch wasn’t wrong. This is the best drink I’ve ever had. Serah thinks, full and satiated, as the area around her mouth was covered in red smudge marks. She lets out a loud burp and lays down. She was satisfied with the day and she was ready to rest.

They never called, yet he is here (censored edition)
Introduction:Not every world needs a Summoned Hero, even if it is possible to summon one. No, really! Everywhere, no matter the time, there are always good people who can use glory, power and personal harem themselves. And the one who was summoned? He is just a resource, nothing more… Translation of the original novel by Avada KadavraThe uncensored version is available here.Authors notes:This is just my take on the whole Hero Summoning thing, where a hero happened to survive.Fatal mistake, an error in a well-oiled mechanism that lasted for generations, gave a Hero a tiny chance to decide his own fate. After all, bad guys never expect a Hero to come, yet, the fucker still does.Partially inspired by the series “You summoned the wrong one” by Aitbaev T.A. who was in turn inspired by “Rise of the Shield Hero”.I have to warn you, Aibaev’s work of fiction is pretty out of ordinary, it makes one breath fire, cry until tears turn to blood and laugh to unconsciousness in equal measure.
