《Outlaw Teens》Chapter 7

"Drew? Are you okay? Listen to me. We need you." Zack tried to get Drew out of his trance but no response came from Drew. He kept staring at Ava's body that he had managed to carry back to the kitchen.
Ever since seeing Ava blow up in front of him, he had became silent. He would start sobbing randomly but other than that, he had become unresponsive.
Zack turned to Judy. He needs time, Zack mouthed.
Zack turned his attention to the other Rebels. "Ava has reduced our enemies to half. They still outnumber us but victory is possible. Any second, our enemies will come charging inside this kitchen. We need to act fast and-"
"I can lay traps." Drew suddenly spoke up. "Ava sacrificed her life so that we could get out of here alive. Her sacrifice won't go in vain. We need to hold the door to the kitchen while we work on the plan."
Drew bent over Ava's body to fetch a gadget from her backpack. Sadness engulfed inside him again but he steadied himself. He was going to avenge Ava.
"Shield Disk." He commanded to his backpack and immediately the slot where he kept the Shield Disk opened.
As the name said, the gadget had a disk with a small knob attacked to it. The disk easily stuck to the door after which Drew pressed the tiny button on its knob.
He stepped back as a translucent blue wall appeared in front of the door.
"This shield will protect us once they blow up the door. However, plenty of gunfires or explosion can destroy the shield too so we don't have much time." Drew said. His voice was still shaky and the miserable feeling of loosing Ava hadn't disappeared from his face yet.
"We need to lay as many traps as possible." Zack said.
Without uttering any word, he gently removed the backpack from Ava's burnt body.
"Shock Mat." Drew commanded. The backpack obeyed and another slot opened containing a rectangular piece of object. From the front, it was plain wite in colour but when Drew flipped it over, the complex wires could be seen. Between those wires was a button that turned on the gadget. Drew placed the mat in front of the door with the white side up.

Suddenly, they heard the sound of explosion followed by the kitchen door collapsing. Five soldiers charged inside without noticing the shield and were immediately electrocuted. The other soldiers backed down.
"The shield won't hold for long. We need to come with a plan quickly!" Drew shouted.
"But they can see us now." Zack stated.
"No, they can't. We can see through the shield but they can't." Drew assured.
"That's good." Zack remarked, "Anyway, do you have any more gadgets left?"
Drew nodded. "Stunner 2.0." He ordered his backpack and immediately a stunner came out. When Zack looked at it, he frowned.
"That looks like any other Stunner." Zack commented. "Does it do anything more other than freeze soldiers?"
"Yes, it does. You can't see the shots you fire so it's good for stealth. Then there's another feature in it. You can kill all the enemies you froze with the Stunner by just a click; only if they are still in the effect of course." Drew had no smirk on his face as he described the gadget to Zack.
"Why did you not told about this gadget before?" Zack cried.
"I-"
"Never mind. How many such guns do you have?"
"Only Ten."
"It's less but we'll have to make do with it. Only ten of us will remain inside the kitchen. The others will go and hide in the tunnel and wait for my signal to attack." Zack instructed.
Zack chose nine of his best warriors which included Judy while the others went to hide in the tunnel.
"Lie down. Play dead." Zack ordered as he eyed the soldiers who were now unleashing all explosives they had on the shield wall. With each explosion, the shield would flicker once.
As soon as the soldiers burst inside the kitchen, they found bodies in front of them.
"That explosion must have been powerful. Its effect had reached inside this kitchen too." The one on the lead remarked as he looked at the ten bodies that lay in front of him. He was clearly impressed by the lady who had done all of it even though she had killed half of his army. "Anyway, they must be trying to escape through the tunnel but they don't know it has collapsed. Storm inside the tunnel and kill then."

"Captain Jake, what's the code?" one of the soldier asked.
" 3GJ♎73H6" The Captain spoke aloud. In response, a metal slab opened revealing stairs that led downstairs.
"Charge at them!" Jake commanded. In response, most of his remaining soldiers started marching downstairs. One received a shock after stepping on the shock mat and immediately collapsed to the ground.
"Idiots." Jake muttered. "Walk around that thing. Watch out for more traps."
However, when the captain looked behind, he saw about fifty soldiers who didn't move from their position.
Alarmed, Jake yelled at his soldiers to stop on their. He scanned the surroundings until he spotted that every dead Rebel had their fingers on the trigger of their Stunner.
"We have been tricked!" Jake yelled. "These people are alive. They were taking shots through their Stunners and we didn't notice. Kill them!"
Before Jake could finish his words, Zack let out a shriek. "Charge!"
Immediately, all the Rebels emerged from the tunnel and attacked at the soldiers standing on the stairs who had their backs turned to them. Before the soldiers could react, they had been killed by the sudden attack.
Having the attention of two hundred soldiers suddenly turn to ten people wasn't good. They pressed the 'kill' button on their Stunner and immediately the soldiers they had stunned blasted. The others got distracted by the sudden explosion which gave time for the other Rebels to enter the scene.
For the next five minutes, the kitchen turned into a battlefield as bullets were exchanged by both sides. The robot chefs were still cooking the food, oblivion to the fact that the entire building was under attack.
The kitchen which was designed to feed the vast number of Rebels was huge but it still wasn't enough for the number of people that were inside the kitchen. The fighting became too intense. There wasn't enough cover for all the people and many were standing in the open, exposed to the enemy firing.
"This fight will turn the kitchen into a slaughterhouse. We need to get the enemy out of here." Zack yelled at Drew over the sound of bullets.
"I have a gadget that can help but I need someone to protect me." Drew shouted back.
"On it." Judy said.
She made her way past the enemy fire and grabbed a metal table on the left corner of the kitchen.
Drew fetched out his laser pen from his backpack. He punched a button and laser erupted from both sides of the pen.
With Judy's protection, he advanced towards the enemy carrying the pen with him. As soon as he came near them, the soldiers started backing away. One touch by the laser pen could give anyone burns for lifetime and passing the laser through someone could slice the body in half.
Drew's attention however wasn't on the laser. He was unable to remove his sight from Judy. He realized why Zack and Judy always argued about who is better. Judy was as fierce in combat as Zack. She would bravely took shots at the soldiers as they advanced forward.
Together, Drew and Judy confidently walked towards the enemy line. The table prevented them from receiving shots by the enemy soldiers. Finally, the entire enemy army was pushed out of room by the fear of laser pen. Drew used another shield disk to buy them more time.
As soon as Drew turned back, he threw up on the floor. The sight of the bloody massacre that took place inside the Kitchen was something that would remain with Drew forever. Countless bodies from both sides lay on the floor. Some of them were people he knew.
"I am sorry you have to watch this." Zack walked towards him.
"It's just that I can't believe we did this. These soldiers were innocent. They just followed the orders they were given. They probably were misled into believing we are evil and were thinking that by risking their lives, they were protecting their planet."
Drew thought that Zack would tell him to harden up or something but his face showed acceptance.
"I feel the same way too. That's the worst part about wars. Nobody wants them but we can't avoid them."

Humans Are Evil (completed)
A world of magic, where empires rise and fall, and where civilization is never safe from the perpetual menace of the monsters that roam the land. In this volatile landscape Fera is reborn and must adapt to this new and ever-changing world. She will grasp at whatever opportunities she finds to escape her unfortunate birth as an orphan. Either excelling, or wallowing in self-pity, Fera will question if this world of magic was as fantastical as she initially thought. Note: The story is technically a litRPG, but much less like a game and more akin to real life, for example obtaining a class does not give free skills to the individual, it’s the other way around! Skills are what unlock your class, so an individual who learns magic skills will unlock mage classes, classes then provide passive buffs and stats, in my opinion this makes everything feel more earned so that the power levels in the world are more natural, rather than every single random person being a powerhouse.
