《Second Chance》mutantur fatum-2: Set in motion

After finishing the plan, I started to get hungry.
It's time for a meal.
I go for the door and twist the knob, opening the door.
The Crystal Palace, one of the most beautiful architectures, craved from a crystal that once falls from the sky.
In my past life, It's was destroyed by the force of Malum, leaving only a pile of rubble.
I take a stair down to the floor below.
On the first floor, In the large room with many paintings and sculptures, many servants are working, cleaning the place.
They keep working until they noticed my presence.
"Greetings, your highness, the second prince."
"May you have a wonderful morning, your highness."
I raise my hand in the air, gesturing them to continue their work.
Everything is so quiet and peaceful. I wonder, was It actually like this then?
I continue on my way to the dining room.
After many twists and turns, I reach a particular door.
Without a knock, I enter.
Inside, two persons are waiting, father and mother.
"You're late, Edlic.'
Mother said, looking at me with her emerald green eyes.
I missed those eyes.
I approach the two and take a seat next to her.
Father glances at me with his left brow raises.
"You usually take a seat beside me."
He said.
"Well, I need a change of place sometimes, father."
I sigh, replying to him.
"Ah, okay, okay. Whatever, son."
He shrugs, waving his hand to the butler beside.
The battle bows and retreated in the kitchen behind him.
I look at my parent. They are so calm. Mother is sitting elegantly in her green dress that matches her eyes while father, he leans on his palm nonchalantly.
He noticed my gaze and smile at me.
"I've got something on my face, son?"
"You've been staring at me for like, a minute now."
He says sarcastically.
"Nothing, just thinking something."
I reply.
Mother sighs, turning to me.
"Edlic, even if your father acts like a fool, but don't' talk that way to your father."
She gives me a scold while father, he's smirking in the background.
After a while, the butler came back with a platoon of maid following behind, holding a plate.
The breakfast started passed in silence.
"Father, there's something I wish to ask."
I said, wiping my mouth with a napkin.
He looks at me with confusion before replacing it with a smile.

"What is it, son?"
Mother also looks at me with concern, worries written on her face.
"I've heard, In two weeks, you'll send an envoy to Eion, right, father?"
He thoughts for a moment before nods his head and say,
"Yes, I've decided on our nation's representative."
"Then, father, I wish to go to Eion as an Eskarnda's representative."
I ask.
"If that's what you wan-"
He slams his hand on the table in surprise.
My mother shakes her head and rubs her temple.
"Listen, Edlic, you're still young, and a prince at that."
Mother explained.
"Even if our elite of the elite escort you, there's still a room for an unexpected, Edlic."
She looks at me with concerning eyes.
That's my mother, usually worried about me since I'm the youngest child, and love to cause trouble.
"I have a serious business there, with certain someone."
"If you have a business there, we can send them a mail by magic, isn't that save you the trouble going there yourself."
Mother suggests.
Well, I forgot we have magic mail available this period.
But I've already planned to travel there.
"It's hard to explain but, I have to there myself, mother."
I make a pleading eye that I'll make even the strongest question themselves.
"B-But..."
She struggles for word.
"Ah... If you wanted, then take someone from the royal guard with you."
Father inserted.
I raised my eyes brow then smirk.
"I have someone in my mind."
They both look at me with confusion.

"Huh?! Y-Your highness, the second prince?"
A man with black hair widens his eyes in surprise.
"I've chosen you, George Bell."
With an authoritative voice, I state.
George sweats as he's scratching the back of his head.
Right now, George is not the head of the royal guard yet, merely a recruit.
"Out of all person, why does your highness decided it to be me?"
"The captain should be able to assist you when you need more than I."
I shake my head and point at him.
"I already said that you will be escorting me. Are you understand George Bell?"
He quickly recomposes himself and stands upright, puffing his chest.
"I-I understand, your highness!"
I nod in satisfaction.
"Very well, I'll inform the captain to make you an exception. You'll be training separately from now on."
His black eyes gleam.
"T-The-"
"Until tomorrow, you'll proceed with your routine as normal, George Bell."

I interrupted him.
Seeing him again make me feel a sense of relief, furthering confirmation of my situation.
If I follow the same line as I did, will the outcome be the same?
I don't want to risk and find it out.
I slowly walk out of the royal garrison, leaving the confused man behind.
Okay, the first plan has officially started. I'll have to wait until then.
I was outside of the garrison as the guard salute, greeting me.
It's still early in the morning. There something I need to find out about this body.
I haven't manifested the Aventus yet, but the magic I posed quite the amount of magic back then.
The law of magic said, magic tied to one's soul, magic depleted, one die, and vice versa.
My memories retained, so is my soul.
I'm walking on the marbled path that leads into the garden, hidden beneath the canopy of the trees.
Magic has no element and form. It's limit by one imagination and one wisdom.
It's a simple yet complicated thing to understand.
I start to concentrate, imagine of the water shaped sword forming out of thin air.
I could feel a slight pulse resonating with my heartbeat.
Then, the air is condensing and slowly forming the water-shaped sword in the air.
It's completely taken shape and slowly descending into my grip.
To retain its shape, I must continuously concentrate.
A single distraction may cause it to disappear.
I swing the sword, imagining cutting all the grass.
*Swish!*
The tall grasses were cleanly cut evenly by the powerful hydro force.

"Arg!"
The sword disappeared into a pile of water when I feel a sudden sharp pain in my chest.
The taste of metal once again fills my mouth.
No, I did not retain my power?
But I was able to summon it.
I walk to the pond and crouching down.
Damn, I look like I just drank someone's blood.
I take the water with my two hands and wash my face.
That's better.
From the latter, I learn two things. One, I was able to use magic and still able to perform a powerful spell. Secondly, my magic power was limited. It takes a toll on my body.
I somehow need to find out about this too.
Is it because of my young age? Or a lack of training?
That should be the case.

After that day, I started my daily magic training to strengthen my body.
I do breathing training, a meditation, and perform some low-level magic at the time being, such as levitating things and controlling water.
"Okay, let's see if the training proves to be effective or not."
I focus my mind on the body of water, imagining lifting the whole pond.
I breathe in and exhale as my heart starts to beat faster.
Come on, let's do it!
I opened my eye and saw that all the water is slowly levitating in the air, not higher than the ground.
I- I make it!
I keep maintaining my focus until I feel a slight pain in my chest, so I stop.
All the water fell onto the ground. Upon impact, the earth shakes as the raging tide sweep everything in its radius.
"On, Crap!'
I forgot that this would be the result of dropping that amount of water instantly.
I ran as fast as I could, but the tide is relentless.
I saw someone's heading this way. I wave my hand in the air and shout.
"Run!"
He turns around and looks at me in surprise. It's George.
"Y-Your highness?"
"W-What?!"
Then tide swallows both of us.

"What have you done, Edlic!"
Mother is scolding me.
While the doctor is treating me, she hugs me.
"What if you hurt or get decapitated?"
I feel slightly guilty for her and George as well.
He was on his task of cleaning the garden, but he has to do it again since the tide carries leaves into the royal knight garrison.
"S-Sorry, mother."
I apologize in a whisper.
She looks at me with teary eyes before changing her expression into somewhat menacing.
"Well, a word weight less than an action, my son."
She waves at Mediva.
Mediva approaches with a broom in her hand.
"Rest up, my son. Because after you rested, go and clean all the mess you made, then we'll talk."
"Mediva, please keep an eye on him."
She pats Mediva's shoulder before leaving the room.
Mediva smiles at me.
"I-Guess there nothing I can help you, your highness. You better do what she asked."
"N-no! I'm too hurt to dusting the ground, and it's an accident, believe me."
I shake my head as Mediva sighs.
"A prince must be responsible, your highness."
She smiles while swaying the broom left and right, dusting the floor.
"Also, cleaning is fun. You should try it, your highness."
I stare at her and think to myself. 'there no way that's is fun.'
