《Universe 2.0》Chapter 73 The arsenal & Getting edged tools

A huge building stood in front of the party. Its doors, which were painted black, were closed, and they could not see any windows. The black walls were very thick and strongly supported the whole building. The only thing that caught their attention was the pictures of guns on the walls. "Is this really where you want to take me?" Seeing the scene in front of him, William asked the compass, puzzled, but its answer was yes.
"You'd better be careful, William." Ranran whispered softly, "Pay attention to safety."
He nodded and led the others to the doors. Strangely, as they approached the doors, the words automatically appeared,
Say "Open" to enter.
It was a piece of cake, so it was quite easy for them to get into the building.
But then some people appeared, which they had not expected.
In the darkness that spread like tide, Photon hit an object. Everyone heard the loud noise, and he immediately retreated back to the others in terror. Then they stood stiffly in the terrible darkness and the dead silence.
"Don't be nervous," Said the object, glowing golden. It was a bronze robot, they saw. Dressed in heavy armor, he had laser guns in hand and looked kindly at them.
He pressed a round button on his body. Lights lit up, illuminating the rest of the bronze robots in the hall. Then they realized that the robots were about the same size as the little boy they had met at Collins Locomotive Works, and that they were a bit cute because they were all dressed like clowns.
Ranran couldn't understand why they had to dress up like that. "This is an arsenal." She asked, puzzled, "Do you guys like it that way?"
"That's right." Said the robot Photon had hit, "We like it that way. It's the program our owner wrote for us."
"Owner? Who is your owner?" Natalie asked.
"Now that Aria has joined your team, haven't you met him? Hasn't he told you about us?" Said another robot. Photon and Rebecca shook their heads. Aria did the same.
"Oh, I see." The first robot said, "Our owner forgot to tell you that he has an arsenal as well as a locomotive works. Come and see." With that, several robots approached and led them to the warehouse.

A bewildering array of weapons was arranged in order in the warehouse. There were laser pistols, plasma rifles, plasma machine guns, laser missiles and countless other weapons. William stopped in front of a thick laser missile and looked at it carefully. It was like a sharp sword, ready to plunge into the chest of an enemy airplane and burn it up. It had a lens in the front of it that laser could pass. This allowed it to better track enemy airplanes. Behind the laser launcher was a minitype hydrogen bomb! William wouldn't even have thought of this if it weren't for the robots' introduction. One robot told him they designed that way to cause more damage and less pollution.
"I think it's a very good idea," William nodded thoughtfully. He thought Rebecca would really like it.
As it turned out, Rebecca did find this powerful. "Wow, I'm a racing plane, but soon I'll be able to do things that fighters do! Sounds great!" She cried, full of joy.
The robot picked out one of the best plasma cannons. "We think at least four of these guns will be sufficient for your partner." Said the robot, "Don't worry. It's not very heavy. Look, it's made of this material."
A small piece of aerogel was placed next to that cannon. At the moment, it was glowing a pale blue glow. William held it in his hand and felt for a moment that it was as light as a feather. "Hmm, that's incredible." He said to himself, "Earthmen haven't developed such technologies yet."
It was time to mount the weapons. Rebecca was taken to another room by some robots. The robot Photon hit gave a few simple instructions, and they all started to get their work done.
Rebecca enjoyed being served by the little ones. She smiled as the robots carefully attached pedestals to her hood and under the main wings -- where the guns were detachable -- then worked with each other to place the deadly killers on the pedestals.
"How? Are we doing all right? Did it hurt you?" A little robot joked.
"Ah, no, no! I feel very comfortable. You are really lovely little ones!" Rebecca laughed. The robots were even more excited.
Soon Rebecca had four plasma cannons. The next task for the robots was to install enough laser missiles for her.

It was more difficult, and they dared not be careless. Some of the robots were watching carefully to see if the other robots were doing right operations. Under their orderly commands, Rebecca successfully mounted eight laser missiles. Now, she became a fighter plane.
William looked at the other weapons. He thought he needed a pair of laser pistols that were made of aerogel. The robot readily agreed, "OK. Let's test it out!"
They went out to the edge of a forest not far away. Almost as soon as they stopped walking, they heard crows in the forest. The voice was so gut-wrenching and miserable that Ranran immediately covered her ears. Rebecca and Aria also looked in pain.
But William didn't think so. "Here's your chance." He said to the laser guns he had just bought, "Don't let me down!"
The guns understood him too. Their shells glowed as blue as aerogel.
Everyone stared with bated breath at the terrible trees, waiting for the crows to appear beside them.
As the screams grew louder and louder, William's heart beat faster and faster.
At last, after an unknown time, a mass of dark shadows rushed out of the forest and away into the darkness. William eagerly raised both guns, aimed them at the crows, and pulled the triggers. Hot, multicoloured plasma bullets shot from the muzzle like lightnings, hitting the swarthy shadows with pinpoint accuracy. Then the party saw beautiful fireworks explode in the air, and the hit shadows fell rapidly. William didn't want to miss any opportunity.
As the crows grew more numerous, William stopped aiming. Instead, he shot directly at the shivering birds, and the more crows he shot down, the angrier he became. He thought he had to kill all these horrible guys because that was the only way he could feel safe. The guns spat wildly, and the number of birds shot down increased. Soon, their bodies piled up into a hill.
"Good!" Ranran cheered loudly. Her smile sparkled in the faint starlight.
"Hey, don't take all the credit. Let your partner try it." The robot said to William.
So Rebecca adjusted her position and began to test her cannons. What she didn't realize was that even on the ground, these cannons would be surprisingly fatal. More and more bullets flew, and the sound of falling crows became more frequent. William smiled at Rebecca. She smiled back at him and continued to enjoy herself.
"It would be great if we could get rid of all the crows this time! We had better burn these horrible trees too!" Photon said loudly, and the others laughed.
"You've got a point there." Natalie said, "They're really scary."
The crows all flew out. "Nice work, man!" Exclaimed the robot loudly, "You have enough confidence now, don't you?"
"Sure!" William's reply was accompanied by laughter.
By the robot's estimate, they succeeded in killing about 70% of the crows. Given that they flew so closely together, this was already a remarkable achievement. "We've come to the right place," Said William, looking at the hill of remains.
"But I'm sorry, Rebecca, that you didn't get to experience the maneuvers I taught you on the last planet." Photon said.
"Oh, never mind, because we'll have a chance soon..." Her voice grew tense.
The others sensed something wrong. The air was suddenly frozen again, and the whispers were in William's ears once more. The trees began to sway wildly, as if trying to catch these aliens with their terrifying branches. The compass glowed bright red and said "Danger" in large letters.
William made a gesture, and the little robot in the backpack quickly coated them to make them invisible. In an instant, several figures in front of the robots disappeared.
The compass showed,
Get ready. The drone fighter is about to appear.
"Go back quickly before he hurts you." William said to the robots. They nodded and dashed into the arsenal. Photon methodically pulled out a minitype dry ice machine and poured into it the dry ice that Griffin the frog gave them. The dry ice machine spewed thick white fog and the temperature dropped rapidly. A few minutes later, raindrops the size of apples fell rapidly from the sky to the ground.
The roar of the engines grew louder. "Get ready, both of you. Let's show him what strength is in unity." William said to Photon and Rebecca, looking firmly into the night sky.
