《Unfortunately This Happened.》Chapter 2: Quests

A church, the priests there look like they are starving as well, is a famine present?
After being led here with Petra, I noticed we live in a rather small town with dirt roads as far as the I can see.
The priest in front of me greets me with a curious look as he then chats with Petra asking what's wrong with me, then calls for a young priestess to test my soul.
A girl with red hair and a well developed body covered up by her robe, you can tell from the telltale lumps. Impressive, is she eating a lot, and can she share with me?
I am asked to look intensely into her eyes, then she sees something on my cheek, touches it, then widens her eyes.
"There is no curse or damage, but there is a blessing."
"How did a soul slime not curse or damage Ren?"
"There is a blessing of Luck marked on his cheek. Are you really Ren? Or did you replace him through divine interference?"
The priestess is smart, way too smart. She guessed correctly. I don't know what to do. Petra and the priestess is looking at me threateningly.
You should use your skill to try and solve this, you might die. Remember how Petra crushed that slime?
Are you watching everything I am doing? Anyway I'll roll the Die, since I might die.
The skill "Roll Die for Death" has been activated! Toss the Die at your toes for effect!
I toss it, as Petra and the priestess are frozen in time. I realize a weightlessness once more as my soul tosses the pink diamond Die at my feet. A "6" appears, then a blinding pink light replaces the Die with Lady Luck!
"Oh, hello, I am Izzy Bell of Luck, Ren here has been damaged, but I fixed him. That's why he is kinda strange now!"

"Oh my, Izzy, thank you for blessing Ren! So, he actually did get hurt then?"
"Petra, I keep telling you I don't feel hurt anywhere, except for my stomach."
Lady Luck Izzy smiles at me as she continues to handle the priestess and Petra. Then Izzy winks at me as before she fades away in a bright pink glimmer. Thanks for showing up on a 0.2% chance!
I feel like this is a shady salesman showing up to address that the truly faulty product is fine, then disappears.
*****
Afterwards, Priestess Mia and my Caretaker Petra congratulated me on my blessing. Then they encouraged me to test my luck at the tavern doing quests.
*****
Now heading to the local tavern, "Laughing Raven" looking for quests to help increase my level. This is the only place that processes the quests.
The Laughing Raven has been around since the last tavern burned down in a bar fight three months ago. I am told by Petra to talk to the owners daughters or son for quests. My legs shake in expectation. I may be able to get more food this way!
The moment I entered the tavern, I am spotted by a barmaid. Then immediately kicked out of the tavern. The barmaid is one of the daughters of the taverns owner.
"This is no place for little boys! Unless you're here to drop off a quest for us to handle."
Her hands on her hips as she twitches her eye at me with a raised eyebrow. The most eye catching thing on her is her full red frowning lips. I take a deep breath and tell her I am here to do a quest, not drop one off.
You should use your skill again. Sigh, this is the last time I help you since you are still getting use to using skills. I will continue to update your status, you'll notice things will change as more options become available! Good Luck!

Thank you Divine Message Box, I will keep that in mind that I have skills I can abuse! I mean use!
The skill "Roll Die for Death" has been activated! Toss the Die at your toes for effect!
The frozen time happens once more as my spirit tosses the pink diamond Die at my feet. A "2" appears, The other daughter comes out, smiling as she meets my eyes and blushes a little.
"He can do some of the non-dangerous stuff we got piled up. Like, delivering meals to all the labourers regularly at lunch and supper for a week.
Clearing out the muck from the public toiletries every three days for a month.
Finally, taking part of the new rookie program to patrol the town boundaries clearing out goblins, large rats, and slimes that keep getting attracted in large groups."
The angry red lip girl just huffs, then walks away as she tells her sister to handle the orphan boy then.
The cute blushing black haired barmaid tells me all the examples that she given would be best suited for me to do. She recommends me to do them all, as her captivating smile causes me to dumbly nod at her.
She tells me to wait outside as she prepares my quest papers to sign. She comes out with a piece of charcoal for me to sign with my finger print, then tells me to wait for her again so she could introduce me to my quests.
*****
The owner's son was sent out instead of the blushing black haired girl, to introduce me to my quests. I frown at the boy frowning back at me. He shows me to the public toiletries first with a malicious smile, telling me I gotta scoop everything out, and bring it to a farmstead half an hours walk from here to process the mess into fertilizer. I grimaced at the thought, and nauseatingly nod at the boy.
Then he leads me to the farmstead that processes the fertilizer, and tells me that this is the place to pick up the meals for the labourers and to bring them to every single farmstead and workshop around town. They keep count of what is being sent, so if I steal a meal, I pay it back by becoming a criminal slave for the farmers. I tell him I agree to this quest as well.
Finally, he leads me to the Guard Barracks Training Grounds. A laid back Guard says in a weeks time, he is taking every rookie out to get some experience.
A new training program for free labour, so the guards can slack off apparently. I tell him to sign me up as well. He shrugs at me and says to come back with a weapon if I want to join. I need a weapon within a week.
After leaving the training grounds, the boy sprints back towards the tavern as he yells back at me to be ready to clean out the muck today, wash up, then deliver the food. He giggles as he runs away.
The skill "Roll Die for Death" has been activated! Toss the Die at your toes for effect!
A little "1" appears, a couple of small birds flying nearby does a stealth bombardment on the boy running away from me. That was worth it.
I walk happily towards to the toiletries knowing at least I'm not the only one dealing with crap.

The Arcane Gunslinger
A lazy celestial being's mistake leads to Sergeant William Remington, a decorated member of the Coalition Marines, to be placed into a new body. His old life aboard the Valkyrie, an interstellar destroyer has also been replaced as he finds his new body in an unknown world. Where he learns of magic, skills, the system, helhorses, and slinging lead with ancient revolvers. Initially, he is skeptical of his new norm but the desire to survive leads him to try to earn a living while he figures out what just happened to his life. He's a fighter but far from the elite, a grunt with some experience. But what better way than to fall back to what he's familiar with, weapons and going after criminals and rebels. With the added challenges of monsters. This is my first Litrpg writing. It's a wild west fantasy setting with the MC taking a role as a gun-slinging bounty hunter in a world of magic and monsters. Hope you enjoy it. UPDATES AT 3PM EST ON MONDAYS AND THURSDAYS! Warning. The story has a slow start because I'm trying to keep my MC realistic. It takes him some time to adjust to his new surroundings, start to make some friends, and really get into the swing of it. I kind of think it's dumb when an isekai's MC manages to blink twice and suddenly adapts to their new world without any sort of struggle or learning period. So not doing that but don't worry Will may be confused and a bit unfocused at first but he'll grow into his own. Also using it to practice my digital artwork... which is far from par but improving. Keep an eye on author notes for maps and depictions of monsters and characters.
