《Unfortunately This Happened.》Chapter 8: Monster Problems

The last day of the week long quest hunting sneaky monsters around the town of Hubble. The exercise, and fighting experience gave me some rewarding stat boosts to my strength and vitality. I noticed that speed and dexterity isn't a stat.
I asked Deimbe about it and told me it's because they are a formula stat. This also includes stamina. I rather not get into it, until it's an important matter. I like the simple stat system for now.
I've received an additional 10 strength and 16 vitality by running from place to place and eliminating all monsters as quickly as possible. Deimbe told me this was the best way to boost up and get my stats to a respectable level, for my level.
This last day, a soul slime I am being cautious around suddenly speaks to me.
"S-stop, p-please don't kill me! This damn monster stole me from my body!"
"What do you mean by that? Where's your original body then? Which family are you with?", there is three main families in this town, the Hubble's, the Blume's, and the Stain's.
The Prickly's that adopted is one of the refugee families that moved here from a pillaged village, I laughed at the rhyme, then got smacked over the head by Abe as Edna cried. I apologized for being rude, I hate being socially awkward at tragic moments.
"I'am not with any of them, Ren, I am one of the other orphans. It's me Clyde!", W-wait, other orphan? Clyde? So before we got adopted, Clyde was replaced?
"When did you get taken out of your body?"
"Its been a horrible month.", I got put into this body because of a soul slime as well. Did Petra kill the original Ren Marler? Its been two weeks since I've been transferred. So he doesn't know that the real Ren is gone too.
"Is there a way for you to get back into your body?"

Ren stop! Remember when I said not to worry for a month when a soul slime eats a soul? It assimilates the persons remains into its hunting techniques. That slime is using its Clyde fuel to attempt at sucking your soul, or another persons. It's important to kill soul slimes quickly or else traumatizing things like this might happen. You let your guard down, then poof goes your existence. These guys are super dangerous, but easy to kill.
"There is a way, just sneak me to the underside of the bed Clyde will sleep and I'll do the rest.", yeah, that sounds like eating, not going back into a body. I guess you are right Deimbe.
"Okay hold on for a second I'll look for something to hide you in.", as soon as the slime relaxes its guard I find a large size rock, then charged at it tossing the small boulder at it, crushing it to smithereens.
I honestly hope I did the right thing and didn't kill the original Clyde that could've been saved. This brings up another pressing matter. Clyde is a replacement like me. Deimbe, probably meant the other being Clyde.
The safe thing to do, is just ignore it for now. Is he another follower of Luck, or maybe another stat?

Feeling conflicted, I head back to the Laughing Raven tavern to forget about my new problem. I get more experience boosting from the quest, and most importantly, money to buy new equipment. As well as food, I hate starving. The blush black haired cutie Sarah and angry red lips Alexa both happily greet me as little hero as I finish my quest.
"Hey Ren, everybody is commenting on how fast you run from shed to shed, storage to storage. Eliminating every little sneaky monster everyday this past week. The kids around town are actually safe to spend time outside thanks to your efforts!" Sarah praises me, please don't stop.

"I'm surprised you never ended up seriously hurt this past week, I tried following you several times but couldn't keep up with you. It's like your ignoring me!", its because I am, I rather not have around to insult me repeatedly. I really prefer Sarah over her.
"Thanks for your concern Alexa, also thank you Sarah for letting me know I am making an impact around town.", it's suppose to be the town guards that protect everyone, but they are really busy playing important roles of crime watching. Evil human beings seems to be a higher priority over the sneaky monsters around the town.
The owner thanks me as well as I complete the quest.
"Thank you Ren Marler for making the town of Hubble a safer place, you receive a bonus of 1 gold coin for an outstanding job by quickly eliminating and patrolling all around the town."
Quest Complete! +2 levels!
Ren Marler lvl.14
Job: Soldier of Fortune

Int: 15
Wis: 15

Ren, for the past week, you have been forgetting to use your skills, your so focused on your stat boosts I didn't want to remind you. But, you should train on them with Alexa there, she would make a great sparring partner for you. I really want to see you do more "Skill Lottery", remember you might get something amazing like magic!
Oh crap, thanks for reminding me Deimbe, see those stat boost messages got me addicted to training this past week on my stats.
"H-hey Alexa, would you play with me? You know like a sparring match, I've been getting good at battling monsters, but I need training against fellow humans."
"Well, since you'll obviously get killed one day if you don't practice for humans. I'll help you out for a fee."
She's targeting my gold coin I just got from doing my quest! My equipment! My food! Desperate times call for desperate measures!
The skill "Roll Die for Death" has been activated! Toss the Die at your toes for effect!
The world, frozen in time once more, to let me use my skill. I toss the Die and a "3" appears(enemy changes target priorities), score, exactly what I was hoping for. Times starts once more.
"The fee for sparring would be, um, be uhhh, be my escort to the Halo City that surrounds Dungeon Valley. The monsters to fight there is the best place for battle experience. Even though, I hate it. I hate fighting monsters, the tavern really needs money or else its going to close and be sold off. I was thinking of asking you for that gold coin back, but I can get more then just a gold coin if we head to Halo City. If its you- if its you, I think I can do it."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. I still gotta help out with the tailorshop."
"Abe would understand, don't worry, my dad could convince him to let you escort me, even though we would join a merchant escort quest to get there. One is leaving in two days.", I have been wondering what other places in this world might look like, this is the best chance. But, I'll be leaving the lovely Petra and the Priestess Mia behind taking an adventure into the unknown.
This isn't what I prayed for, but I can't help wanting to go. I think I'm too addicted to stat boosts to refuse now.
On the scary side, what if I encounter something that could kill me in one blow? I'll need to stick close to the experts, maybe another supervised training program is available in Halo City? Okay that's the right idea, I'll do it!
"Okay, I'll come back in two days."

Re-Ordaining of the Chosen
Alea cheerfully hummed as she descended the steps, brimming in upbeat while her colleague, Quarren Leos, shot her a look of skepticism. “So… were you right about him?” he asked doubtfully. She came to a stop for a moment, her humming falling silent before she shook her head, waving her medium length light-blonde hair from side to side. “I was wrong about him.” Quarren raised an eyebrow in confusion at the convoluted response.“But you seem quite happy?” he asked again. “Because I am. But I was wrong about him. He was… so much more than I ever expected.” Alea looked at the sky overhead with a smile. “That boy… no, that man, is amazing. I firmly believe he will come to stand on top of any adversary he faces. He is destined. He is Chosen.” Quarren snorted as he stepped past, shaking his head. “Okay. Each to their own beliefs but you’re sounding like a nutjob. That skinny twig? Everyone calls him a cripple, you know,” he shook his head.“Rumours are always false, Leos,” Alea answered with a disapproving shake of her head. “You wouldn’t know. He is so, so much more.” “I saw him with my own two eyes. I didn’t see anything redeeming,” Quarren rebutted. “Well…” Alea chuckled. “You haven’t seen what I’ve seen.” In the year 917 of the Imperial Calendar, the Great War had just ended between dozens of nations. Farrien welcomed home millions of troops and warriors with the Archdukes of Aerianne and Kanaria leading them at the forefront. It was common belief that they possessed special blood blessed by the Goddess Stecia, who gifted the lineage to the first King of Farrien when he first founded the country. All were ecstatic when the current generation of the two Archduchy's, after the war, agreed to let their children wed. The excitement was short-lived however when the Aerianne Princess proved to be a dragoness among men but the Kanarian Prince was worse than even mediocre. The Prince disappeared and the wedding was shortly forgotten as society lived on. Until one day the Young Heir of Kanaria returned to Farrien a changed man, bringing demise with him. Follow the story of the Chosen ordained by the Goddess of Time as he returns to the past to right his wrongs and set things back straight again!
