《A new horizon》5. A surprise

Gawen was just looking at the name blankly as he was trying to digest what he saw. If the name Westeros wasn't enough to convince him then the location of Winterfell surely made him realize what kind of world he was in.
Sybelle and Wolkan, saw the surprised face of Gawen and wondered if he got his memory back after seeing the map of Westeros.
"Son, are you alright? Did you get your memory back?" his mother asked. Gawen was still silent as he was contemplating and digesting what he saw.
"Young Lord..." Wolkan asked.
"Who is the current Lord of Winterfell?" Gawen asked in a very grave and a serious manner and he prayed that the answer wouldn't be Robb Stark. Because if it was Robb then many things would be lost soon.
"It's Lord Eddard Stark. Why son? Did your memories come back? You never showed any interest in Winterfell. Is there anything wrong?" Sybelle asked.
"No.. No... Sorry... It's just a vague memory of Winterfell and its Lord came to my mind... No mother.. No other relevant memories of my past have come up." Gawen replied as he heaved a great sigh inside his head as he felt relieved.
Game of Thrones!!!
This name was all that was ringing in his head. Gawen in his previous life had watched this series. Though he wasn't a religious follower of it, he knew pretty well of the series. And of course their infamous last season where they kind of dumped and ruined everything.
But here the problem was this was real life and what he watched was reel life. Now everything was coming back for Gawen. Finally he understood why seeing Wolkan he felt deja vu. Because, Wolkan belonged to the lineage of Maester. Same as that paedophile of a Grand Maester at King's Landing.

"Mother, can you leave me with these books for sometime. I want to rest a bit and study everything that I can in silence. I still feel a little tired and want a little peace." Gawen said as he wanted to think of the future from this point on.
The world he was in was more dangerous that he could ever expect for and he needed to be alive, safe and sound when all hell breaks loose in the future.
"Sure son. Sleep for the night. I will come tomorrow early morning to take you out and show you around." Sybelle said.
"Thank you mother. Goodnight." Gawen said.
"Goodnight, my sweet pie." Sybelle said as both she and Wolkan departed after he kept the books near his bed for him to read if he felt like it.
As the door was closed Gawen looked at the map of Westeros with concentration as he felt he had seen something when he checked it out before. He wanted to make sure if what he saw was real. As he held the map in his hand he saw a video game type status panel on top of the map levitating in open air.
He was taken aback as he used his hand to touch the neon light panel that he was able to see only to notice that his hand went right through it without affecting anything on the panel.
"Is this my plug-in? Is this my cheat and my help after I got transmigrated." Gawen became excited about what he was seeing.
[
Name - Map of westeros
Description - Made of parchment that had been skinned from a young calf. And used vegetable dye as ink.
Status - Incomplete
Upgrade requirements - black ink of 3 ml

"Upgrade? Wait, this plug-in can upgrade things? This is cool. But how do I upgrade?" Gawen thought as he looked around. He saw a small glass bowl containing black ink on the table beside.
With no hesitation he got up from his bed and went to the table with the map. As he brought the map near the ink to see how he could upgrade, he saw a prompt on the status panel of the map.
[
Upgrade requirements met. Want to upgrade?
]
"Yes." Gawen thought as he tried to press the 'yes' button that had popped up, only to realise that the yes button was controlled by his thought power.
"That's convenient."
But what he saw next made him almost jump. The small amount of black ink flew up and magically new lines of black color were getting drawn on the map. It was as if somebody was drawing beautifully on the map.
And after half a minute, the old map which almost had nothing to boot about was filled with descriptions of various parts of Westeros. All the houses were named clearly with their sigil and even the borders which were drawn before changed and were more clear than before.
[
Upgrade complete
Next upgrade requirements - green colored ink and parchment of young calf
]
"This.... " Gawen was dumbfounded. When the upgrade requirements came he thought it would just make the map look better and clear since there were only requirements of black ink. But what this 'video game' panel showed just changed his world view.
Even though he wasn't a great fan of transmigration novels he understood that this was probably his cheat code after he came here. His help to conquer everything and suffice to say he wasn't disappointed by what he just saw.
This status panel would help him upgrade things of his liking with requirements. Though it wasn't like a overpowered system he had read one or two before, something was better than nothing.
"This is awesome. This game panel can even bring knowledge that is unknown to this world. Oh.. This is going to be fun!!" Gawen thought.
He then proceeded to look around and see if he could see the status panel on other things nearby but sadly there was none.
"Huh! Was it just a one time thing?"
Gawen got scared with just the thought of it as he noticed that he couldn't see anything but as he moved his hand from the map to the table, the status panel from the map vanished and appeared on top of the table.

Makemake
"Makemake—a planet that is found in the far edges of the system known as Sol—was once a metropolis, like all of the other planets that populate the system. Now, like all of the others, it lies as a Sleeping City, forever dormant. No one lives there anymore—it has been vacant for years. In one of the massive cities that used to have a population that was in high numbers a sound could be heard. A distant sound. A beep, or a call, a message—whatever it was, it was an electronic noise. It echoed through the dust cloud filled landscape. The sound went on for a long time. It sat in a sea of quiet; no other noise rolled over the hills and bounced off the ground—only that noise. Only that beep."
