《The Ultimate Human》Chapter 02 : Choosing a bloodline

"A disciple? Do I even have a choice in the matter?" Davis Graylock said with a hint of helplessness. In fact, he didn't want to have anything to do with the old man. He didn't want to enter that crazy world of Devils and Gods. For him having a mundane life was more than enough.
Aldric Draalsar smirked and then said: "Choice? Do you think I'm gonna let you go? Put yourself in my shoes. After one million years, you're the only one who could bypass the seal set by an Overgod. If that's not a miracle, what can it be? You leave me no choice but to study you to find out what's so special about you. Asking you to become my disciple is only to give you something in return while keeping you alive for a few thousand years, giving me ample time to experiment on you."
Davis Graylock eyes lost its color as he thought about how his life was going to be from that moment on. He remained silent for a while, out of words.
Aldric Draalsar then said:" You don't need to answer me now. I've already chosen your answer for you and since I'm doing this for our own good, you don't need to worry about anything. In fact, you'll be gaining more than you think."
After the old man said his piece, a torrential wind swept Davis up and he found himself flying alongside the old man towards the center of the island.
What Davis thought was a little island turned out to be endless. From what he saw from the sky, he was even wondering if it was an entire continent. Or maybe it was because it was still dark and he couldn't see clearly.
They took 15 minutes to reach a palace built on the tallest mountain of the island.
They arrived at the entrance and then flew inside.
The wind carrying Davis brought him to a chair and then he sat down.

Aldric also sat down as two large cups and a bottle of wine started floating towards them from a nearby cabinet.
"The first thing I'm gonna ask you is: which bloodline do you think is suitable for you?" Aldric Draalsar asked as the bottle of wine poured wine into the two cups by itself.
" Bloodline?" Davis Graylock was a little confused. He received a cup of wine and then downed it.
Aldric took a sip and then said: "Yes. I've got three bloodlines that I have been brewing ever since I got imprisoned here. If you absorb any of them, you'll gain power rivaling my current self considering they've been brewing for a million years under the influence of the Undying Spell Matrix. Heck...you might even end up being stronger than me."
Davis was now having the wild idea of killing the old man once he was baptized with one of the bloodlines. It would solve most of his problems regarding his uncertain future that was in the hands of someone else.
Davis also never thought he was a prisoner. He believed he could leave the island just as easy as how he got on it. In his mind, only the old man was a prisoner to this island.
Davis put the cup back on the table. As soon as he did it, the bottle that seemed to contain endless wine moved and poured some more wine into the cup. Taking back a full cup, Davis realized that he didn't remember what the wine actually tasted like. It seemed it had been forgotten before he knew it.
He carefully drank slowly this time and then felt that it was nothing more than normal wine. He expected something mystical to occur, but nothing happened.
Disappointed, he asked the old man: "What kind of bloodlines do you have?"
Seeing the young man inquiring about his bloodlines so quickly Aldric Draalsar smiled. He lightly coughed and then said: " I originally had four bloodlines. The Blue Dragon bloodline, the Primordial Ape bloodline, the Phoenix bloodline and then the Heaven Swallowing Serpent Bloodline. I knew that the dragon bloodlines can be malleable and be fused with other bloodlines to create something more powerful, so I fused it with the Primordial Ape bloodline and it was a startling success. Their compatibility was out of this world."

Before the old man could continue, Davis Graylock asked: "You're all alone on this Island, what's the use of so many bloodlines?"
Aldric Draalsar smiled and then said: " I've been working on a Reverse Resurrection Spell. When I die and ignite the blood I left behind to resurrect with my Resurrection Spell, all that happens is that a new body and soul is created from that blood. I can then live again... Now...what the Reverse Resurrection Spell does is creating another clone with my blood just like a normal resurrection...and there would be two identical souls which are taboo and impossible. If can succeed in creating a fully functional clone, I would then purify it's Blue Dragon bloodline and then have it be baptized with another bloodline just as powerful. It would become easier to access the elemental laws contained in those bloodlines and study them."
Davis was having a little trouble understanding the old man, but he could see the hidden meaning: Aldric Draalsar was so crazy that he wanted a legion of himself.
It was at that moment that the old man showed a forlorn look. He said: " It's such a shame that from all the demon beasts living on this island, none of them has a bloodline that originates from the elemental laws of space. If I could study the laws of space, it would only be a matter of time for me to find a way out of this island."
Davis then abruptly said: " I choose the Phoenix bloodline."
The old man, Aldric Draalsar, came out of his reverie and retrieved a fist-sized vial from out of nowhere. There was a dazzling moving inscription on the vial and the golden liquid inside seemed to be constantly boiling. He then said: " The Golden blood of the king of birds. I killed a few birds and took their blood into this vial...then I inscribed a simplified version of the Undying Spell Matrix on the vial to refine it. That was in the first thousand years of my stay on this island. 250,000 years later the blood was no longer red, it was purple. It was only roughly 400,000 years ago that the blood turned golden. One million years of refinement under the Undying Spell Matrix will give you power like you've never felt before. At this stage, this blood represents royalty among Phoenixes from its concentration. After you've been baptized with it, I will impart onto you all my knowledge about Spell Matrixes..."
"Will I ever get the Undying Spell Matrix?" Davis asked as he took the vial with the golden blood.
"That's what I meant by imparting onto you all my knowledge...but you're too weak and ignorant to even begin playing with the Undying Spell Matrix...which is why I will inscribe it onto your new body myself." Aldric said as he stood up. He added: "Let's go back outside so you don't burn my palace down with your evolution."
Davis followed him outside with the vial in tightly held in his hand.
Once they were at least fifty meters away from the palace Aldric stopped and then turned to look at Davis. He said: "The word 'baptize' doesn't really mean anything. All you have to do is drink that golden blood and the rest will occur naturally."
Davis then frowned, looking at the golden blood that was about to change his life.

Musings of a Hypocrite
Mortals are weird. They insisted in unity, as well as individualism. More often than not, they're shocked at truth and honesty, but not at falsehood and deceit. They asked questions with multiple answers, and provided answers that begged other questions. They made things to break, they destroyed things to study, they researched things to recreate. Humans, Elves, Beastmen. All of them. Within these contradictions, a miracle might manifest. But this tended to work with a trial and error methodology. Most mortals never got the happy ending. This diary is my journey alongside a few students of mine. In simple terms - they learn, they grow, they fight. They'll journey through centuries of conflict, from the physical to the educational. They'll experience the cruelty and benelovence of all living-kind. They'll experience the consequences of their choices and the blessings of their rewards. They will grow to become useful to me, or die trying like all the others. As for you? The god reading our lives like a book, sitting in your chair without a care in the world?
