《A God's Freedom》A pub of gods

Saji entered the pub and the first thing that caught her eye was the small stage which was located on the backside of the room. Most of the pub was shrouded in twilight, only the stage was brightly lit and naturally formed the center of attention.
'Sexual Content Start'
On the stage multiple young women moved around in enticing motions, some dancing others presenting their beautiful bodies to the audience. Some of the women were naked, others barely covered the most important placed with a translucent cloth. All in all, it was an extremely alluring scene.
'Sexual Content End'
Saji’s face instantly turned red and she hurriedly looked away.
A few customers who had turned around to see who had entered the pub laughed at her embarrassment.
“Little girl don’t be embarrassed, come over to this uncle and strip for me!”, one of them, a burly man with green scales covering large portions of his face said this with a disgusting grin.
Laughter filled the room.
Saji only became redder and turned around to ignore them. She spotted the counter in another part of the pub and immediately moved towards it. She had to bypass a few tables with customers sitting around them. All of them had at least one striking characteristic that differentiated them from humans.
Some had tusks growing out their mouths, other has spines instead of hair, some didn’t even look like humans and remembered her of the demons in old folklore.
Curious glances and grins came from all directions.
Suddenly someone grabbed her wrist.
“Human girl, I really want you to strip for me!”, it was the burly man from before.
Saji tried to pull her hand away, but the man’s grip was to strong.
“Sir, I’m sorry but I’m really not that type t-“, she tried to say, suddenly a black and white flash appeared on both her sides and bolted towards the burly man. Before he could react, they slammed into him.
The air seemed to explode as the man was forced to let go of Saji’s hand. He crashed into a nearby table. Saji was completely unaffected and remained at the same spot.

The two flashes flew back to Saji and took the form of a black and white koi as they once again circled her.
The pub had become silent.
The burly man slowly rose up from the pile of splintered wood and moaned in pain.
“Fuck!”, he said. He looked over to Saji and saw the two koi circling around her.
“So, you are a god’s plaything hm?”, he seemed angry but there was also fear hidden within his small eyes. He spat on the ground.
“Hope he will break and have fun defiling your little body!”, the man hatefully looked at her. Then he turned around and walked towards the exit of the pub.
Suddenly the air froze.
A terrifying presence exploded from the counter of the pub and instantly engulfed the entirety of the pub. Saji felt as if she would drown in this endless see of frigidness.
“Dear customer, you still need to pay for the damage.”, a friendly voice came from the counter.
The burly man froze where he was standing. His body began to tremble as his small eyes widened to an almost unbelievable extent. There was no way to describe the shier fear he was feeling at this moment.
“I-I’am sorry!!!”, he reached into a pocked on his rugged leather jacked and pulled out a poach. Still trembling he threw it towards the counter. The poach made a beautiful arc in the air and landed in a person’s hand.
The pressure vanished as suddenly as it had appeared.
“Thank you for your patronage. We hope you will visit us again.”, the friendly voice once again rung out. But the man had already bolted out of the pub.
Saji was stunned and couldn’t quite understand what had just happened. While she was still staring at the spot where the burly man had stood just a moment ago, she suddenly felt something resting on her shoulder.
She flinched back and turned around.
A friendly smiling asian-looking man was looking at her, his right hand suspended in the air.
“Oh sorry, did I startle you?”, it was the same friendly voice which had terrified the burly man. He smiled friendly. Saji became nervous. If that burly man had been afraid of this person, then she should be even more careful around him.

“Can I help you?”, she asked nervously while taking another step back.
The man smiled. “No need to be aflaid. I’m a fliend of Ji. You can call me Tian!”
….
At the same time Ji and Cer had changed locations and now sat in another bar only a few houses from the one Saji had entered. It was smiliar the “Dragons Dream”, both in it’s looks as well as in the kind of service it provided.
The pubs name was “Fairy Heaven” and just as the name suggested there were tens of small fairies who served drinks and entertained the customers with other services. Of course, they too wore little to no clothing while doing so.
These fairies were about 30 centimeters tall, had beautiful slender bodies and very charming faces. In terms of curves they had little to show off, but what they had was very appealing to the eye.
'Sexual Content Start'
Ji placed his drink onto the fairy who arced her body in the form of a bridge. Her feet and hands were placed onto the table while her bare stomach and breast served as surface on which the drink was placed upon.
'Sexual Content End'
“So they broke the seal… I already wondered why this bastard have been so aggressive lately.”, Ji shook his head gravely.
“You have been missing around this parts for to long. Things have changed in the last few years. Some of the stronger gods gathered a bunch of spirits and demi gods and started a full-blown offense against the heaven’s forces. A few moths back they had a major victory and now these small fries have decided to toy around with the humans.”, Cer laid back onto his chair. “These kids don’t realize what is going to happen once these old bastards decide to move. There is a god damn reason why we haven’t already wiped them out long ago!”
Ji took another sip of his drink. “It is foolish to attack humans just because they want to anger the heaven.”
Cer laughed. “This is so typical for you. Always worrying for the mortals.
Well I guess it’s kind of your job…”, he shrugged. “Either way it’s not like humanity is going to be wiped out. Some lower gods decided to protect them, and a good part of the spirits just enjoys playing around with them without killing them.
They will survive and adapt, just as they did in the old times.”
Ji nodded. “The humans will survive, but they will lose a lot.”
“That’s not for us gods to worry about, is it?”, Cer looked over to the stage of the pub. An unusually large fairy was dancing wearing a completely see-through gown. Cer sighed, but his eyes were firmly glued to her figure.
“Times really have changed, who could have imagined that fairy queens would become mere showgirls back then?”
Ji shrugged his shoulders. “You could buy her and set her free if you wanted to.”
“Well yeah, I could….”, Cer slowly said. Suddenly he smiled. “By the way-“
“NO, She is NOT my plaything.”, Ji said before Cer could complete his sentence. Cer’s eyebrows lifted up and his eyes questioning.
“She IS your type so where is the problem?”
“I won’t touch her. That’s all you need to know.”, Ji clearly didn’t want to continue this topic. He stood up from his chair and placed his empty glass onto the fairy.
“I will go and make sure Saji found Tian without problems. You go and prepare for what we will do soon.”, he didn’t wait for Cer’s reply and took a step towards the exit. His body blurred, and he disappeared.
Cer was left alone with his drink. He shot a glance at the fairy queen on the stage and tilted his head.
“I will buy her.”
He went to find the owner of the pub.

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?

Welcome to Lectioterra Adventurer! (Please DO NOT buff the Raid boss) (Please note i am quite aware that book one was written with quite a few thousand errors. I took a break from writing for ten years and had to relearn a lot of things. I learned quite a lot from writing 100+ chapters so far. I will go back and edit book one’s chapters after I get book two finished. If you all want to point out the errors in the earlier chapters I will gladly edit those things ASAP)

But instead of safety, every step brings them closer to danger: sky pirates, cannibals, and a relentless soulless scourge unleashed by their enemy are all intent on killing Lian—or worse. Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz
