《Endless Possibilities》Chapter 2: Mushrooms

“I’m around the corner, you don’t have to look for me I’m going to come to you,” replied Jason after catching his bearings.
Jason tidied hisself up. There was no need to show Chubby that he was distraught. When he finished tiding up his clothes he followed the direction he heard Chubby’s voice was coming from. It took him around thirty steps to get to Chubby. Looking back Jason found out that the direction he was following earlier was practically right and was only a bit off. If he had kept on walking, he would have eventually found Chubby.
“Where were you, I looked around our agreement and I couldn’t find you.”
“Sorry, I was looking for food before I was distracted by the trees and before I knew it I had already wondered off from our fifty feet restriction.”
Chubby waved off my mistake before asking, “did you find any food when you were wandering about?”
“Nope, didn’t find anything other than trees. You said you found some mushrooms are they edible?”
“I don’t know if they are edible, but you could look if you want.”
Chubby finished talking to Jason and gestured for him to follow him. It took them fifteen to twenty seconds to get to their destination. If there weren’t as many trees in their way on top of having to go around them it would have taken them ten seconds or less to get there. Reaching their destination Chubby stopped and pointed to where he found the mushrooms.
At first Jason wasn’t clear at what Chubby was pointing at. All he saw was darkness. Most of the moonlight was being blocked by the trees in the surrounding making the visibility of small things nearly impossible. Chubby was able to understand that Jason wasn’t able to see the mushrooms being pointed at by the clueless look on his face. With that hint in mind Chubby decided to get closer to the mushrooms before he showing it to Jason.
Jason followed Chubby’s example and knelt done beside him. Chubby moved to the side to give Jason more room to see the mushrooms. That was when Jason saw a cluster of mushrooms. There were about six to eight of them in total. The mushrooms were white all over without a speck of dust on them. It looked almost similar to an average white mushroom. Jason also saw the mushrooms weren’t the same sizes and their luster weren’t the same. The smallest one in Jason estimate was three times the normal size of a regular white mushroom and the biggest one had a size about five to six times bigger than the average mushroom. In comparison their sizes had a correlation to their luster. The bigger the mushroom was the brighter the luster.

Jason came closer to the mushrooms to take a quick sniff. The mushrooms gave off a sweet smell similar to that of freshly pealed pineapples. The closer Jasons nose got to the mushrooms the sweeter the smell became. The smell was extremely intoxicating, it drew you in and made you let go of your inhibitions. Just when Jason nose was about to touch the mushroom Chubby pulled him back. “Huh… What… Oh my bad,” said Jason after seeing what he did wrong. The smell was just to great for him to handle. When Jason first tried to smell the mushrooms, he thought they would have an earthy woody smell, but to his surprise that wasn’t the case. The smell reminded him of a fruit, a pineapple to be exact. The aroma it gave off was a level higher than the smell of the sweetest pealed pineapple. His mouth started to water at the thought of tasting the heavenly smelling mushrooms. When Jason felt himself unconsciously licking his lips he knew he was going to far.
Jason shook his head to snap out of it and turned to Chubby. He saw Chubby was in the same daze as he was. Chubby was rubbing his hands and licking his lips. Jason chuckled to hisself he wasn’t the only one the mushroom had affects on. Remembering that heavenly smell again a smile came on his face. He reached out to shake Chubby out of his trance.
“Huh… I’m up.”
“Yea you are, so how should we split them up. Since, you found them you could choose how to distribute them.”
“Uhm alright I choose to split it up evenly. We will do rock paper scissors for the biggest one. That should be the fairest way.”
“Alright if that’s what you want we will split them evenly. As for the biggest one that one will go to you. There’s no need to do rock paper scissors and besides you found them, and we are able to eat now.”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive.”
With that being decided they only had to decide on who would pull them out. Without a knife they wouldn’t be able to perfectly pull them out. They had to make due with their hands and try not to damage the body as much as possible. They decided to let Chubby do the honors of pulling them out.

Chubby got as close to the mushrooms as possible without damaging them. Next, he dispersed the dirt around the mushrooms. The entire time not a speck of dust touched the mushrooms. When it seemed like dust was about to fall on them it was like the dust was being repelled by a force field. These mushrooms were truly magical. Done with dispersing the dirt around the mushrooms Chubby slowly and carefully pulled out the mushrooms. He started from the smallest and worked his way up to the biggest ones.
When Chubby was done pulling the mushrooms out they checked if there were any damages on them. They noticed that the smaller ones had the most damages since Chubby started on them. The damage got progressively smaller until the biggest mushroom only had a small amount of damages. All in all, the mushrooms were in great shape.
With the mushroom in hand they walked out of the dark part of the forest into a place where there was more moonlight. They found a tree that was big enough and had enough moonlight for the both of them to sit around. Chubby then evenly split up the mushrooms and kept the biggest one to hisself while also giving the second biggest one to Jason. The second biggest one was only slightly smaller than the biggest one, so Jason was content with the ones he received.
Now was the time for the truth were the mushrooms as good as they smelled or were they disgusting. They were only a bite away from finding out the truth. Both Jason and Chubby decided that they would eat the smallest ones first and work their way up. They looked at each other and said “cheers” at the same time. They then withdrew their gaze from each other and looked at the mushroom in their hands.
Grabbing the smallest mushroom in his hand Jason brought it up to his nose. “Ahhhhhh,” said Jason when he smelt that divine scent again. His mouth started watering again he couldn’t wait to put the mushroom into his mouth. He took the mushroom away from his nose and brought it close to his watering open mouth. He hesitated for a quick second before putting it into his mouth.
He took a bite and started moving it around his tongue. The mushroom was as soft as a fluffy cloud. It felt like it would melt on his tongue like a warm soft caramel candy. It felt so soft that Jason was slightly reluctant to bite it again, but thanks to good he did because he would have missed out on a heavenly treat. When Jason bit into the mushroom there was an explosion of flavor on his tongue. The sweet nectar like taste of pineapples was flowing down his gullet. With every bite the sweet taste came back and was overpowering his taste buds. It tasted so good he almost let a moan out.
Jason then felt the mushroom going down his throat and everywhere it passed the place started to feel comfortably warm. When it reached his stomach, the warm feeling started to spread out to all his limbs. Saying Jason was feeling extremely comfortable was an understatement. The feeling felt terrific. Jason closed his eyes savoring both the taste and the warm feeling.
When the feeling disappeared Jason slowly opened his eyes, he looked over at Chubby. Chubby had a goofy smile on his face. It seemed he was enjoying the sweet taste and the comfortable feeling. Jason looked at how much mushrooms Chubby had left. He found that Chubby had already eaten his second one. Not wanting to be left behind Jason started on his second mushroom.
The second mushroom was a tad bit sweeter than the first and the warm feeling was a bit more comfortable than the first. Jason felt like he was on cloud nine and while riding the comfortable feeling Jason found out that the bigger the mushroom was and the brighter the luster the better the overall feeling the mushroom gave.
Jason then quickly moved on to eat the third and then the last mushrooms. Eating the last mushroom, the sweetness and comfortable feeling he felt was multiple times higher than the first mushroom. Jason was so comfortable he didn’t notice he fell asleep.

Blaze
The story of a fire elemental's life in a world dominated by mages. He will have to learn how to manage betrayals, treachery, and maybe even love as he goes on adventures to find a meaning to it all. From dark, humble beginnings he will rise... or fall, devastating amounts in his journey across the world. Hello, Author here! I am, unfortunately, rather terrible at coming up with descriptions that seem to have the right amount of decorum and yet actually serve their function of adequately describing the story, so here's the coursenotes. - The story follows a fire elemental. (As you can tell from that, it is heavily besed on fantasy with mages and the like. Technology will not feature prominently) -As mentioned in the tags, this will have game-like aspects. (E.G. levels, stats. I will be trying to put my own twist on this notion however, so bear with me if the premise intrests you but you despise LitRpg) -It'll get rather dark, but not devastatingly so. (I'm trying to write a more complex story so it will have its dark moments, the prologue being one of them. Rest assured the whole story will not be this dark, though I'll make sure that no-one is a saint either) -The protagonist/protagonists will not be a Mary-Sue. (The plural will be understood when I'm further into the story. They also won't be impossiby unlikeable such as those in many Light novels.) -There is no prophecy (Anyone who says there is, is lying, trust me.)

But is this world really where the journey begins? --------------------------- I just wanted to mention that this is the first light novel that I’ve ever worked on and I’m also just doing this for fun, so I apologize in advance if it isn’t up to par. I also drew the cover myself because I wasn’t sure which pictures were okay to use and I didn’t want to bother with it. So yea, sorry about the amateur drawing (・.・;) In any case, feel free to give feedback and thank you for reading.
