《Lobotomy Corporation: Second Wave》Day 5: The Broken Mind

Leo's POV
I was walking to the facility and encountered Oliver, although he looked a bit paranoid, I walked up to him and went side to side with him.
"You alright? This is becoming a normal thing for you" I started walking backwards, facing him while moving towards the elevator
"No, I don't think I am, it seems like our higher-ups want us dead" He walked ahead of me. Looking around more I noticed every agent looked dead inside "We got another ALPEH"
"Heh? Another!? did we not just get one two days ago?" I once again got by his side
"We did...although I guess it's not our choice when we get them, since the old LC is down I'm assuming our higher-ups are just putting them where ever they can to have them contained.....even if it's just for a short while" I looked on his back to see a rifle, he looked distraught to be having it with him but I didn't question it, I didn't want him to remember any more trauma.
We went down the elevator, both Shina and Oliver were still tense, seeing Shina of all people being tense made me worry as he was someone who didn't care often.
"Heyo Leo and Oliver" Taylor greeted us as we hit the Control room floor. Oliver and I gave a simple wave as and Shina went to talk to him, well more like to argue with him. I did my best to listen to it but hearing from my desk was a bit difficult
"This is a sick joke right Taylor" I overheard Shina say
"Why would this be a joke?"
"Maybe because you expect us to deal with two ALEPHs in 5 days!" Shina continued to argue
"It's not my choice you know, it's the manager's choice of what Abnormalities to bring"

"Then tell that sick fuck to calm down, I know we are here to make power and all that but this is overboard, you won't be making power when we're all fucking dead!"
"You're not even the one who manages them, why are you complaining" Shina looked pissed off from what I could see and he grabbed Taylor by the collar of his shirt
"That ain't the point, the point is that if one Agent fucks up, us Clerks can't defend ourselves, we'll be slaughtered!"
"But you have pistols for self-defense" Taylor was unfazed by Shina's anger even as he slammed him into a wall
"We both know, deep down, that's not what they're for, tell the fucker to relax before I make you" After hearing that Taylor threw Shina's arms off of him and gave a sinister look towards him
"Hurting your sephirah is frowned upon you know" From where I was I could tell Shina was getting more and more mad at Taylor
"Fine, if this facility all dies then don't come at your agents or clerks for help" Shina walked back to his desk as Taylor just shrugged it off and walked away to do whatever. "The guy is really something huh?" Shina said to my right as his desk was somewhat nearby
"Well you certainly aren't helping by getting physical with him" I looked over at Taylor "Although even I have to say that his smile really is unsettling" Maybe it was because Taylor could feel our glare but he turned around and gave us a wave "Regardless, I'm still going to do my job, see ya later Shina" I gave him a wave and proceeded to pick up a few boxes to restock the vending machines.
After the fourth or fifth machine, I started to realize just how much bigger the facility became after Tsuki and her team came here. I stretched as my back was starting to hurt from bending too much.

"Hey Leo, how's it go?" I heard Oliver behind me, I turned and saw his rifle strung across his shoulder "I got back from dealing with that weird mountain or whatever" I grabbed the box beside me and started walking with him
"Didn't they say it was an Aleph?"
"Yeah, although, it did seem a little pissed off after I was done, guess I did something wrong" After he said that we started walking in silence, I could tell something was wrong
"Oliver?" I tapped his shoulder
"Hey Leo." He stopped in place "Have you been seeing people?" I was a bit confused by the question, I mean the answer was obvious
"Of course, Shina and the ot-
"That's not what I meant" Oliver interrupted me, his hand clenched in a fist "I meant people who aren't there, people who aren't real" I looked at him, just by looking at his face I could tell he was on the verge of crying "At least I hope they aren't real" He started mumbling and said something I couldn't hear. "God, they better not be real" He sat down against a wall, putting his hands on his face "I guess I'm just a bit tired, go on ahead Leo, I'll be there in a minute" I turned the corner and put my hand on the wall as I looked back at him
"You sure?" He nodded, and reluctantly I went back to the control room.
"Hey Leo, everything done?" Taylor greeted, with his normal smiley self
"Not everything, I still got a box left" I said moving the box
"Alright, just get that done and you'll be set to relax or leave" I set the box down and once more started restocking the last vending machine, I sighed, doing this really gets repetitive, yet this was more safe than being an agent. Before I could finish I heard a shot across the hall, everyone including Shina jolted from their seats
"Taylor?" I looked over at him as he checked a tablet
"None of the abnormalities have escaped, the alarms would be going if that was the case" I remembered what Oliver said and started running towards the noise, Shina followed after me. We both turned the corner to see Oliver, his eyes looked broken, and was surrounded by tears
"Hey, What's wrong!?"Shina tapped him trying to draw his attention. Oliver ignored him, but instead pointed at the end of the hallway, we both looked. Nothing.....Nothing was there "Oi, this isn't some joke you two made while coming over here right? Cause it ain't funny" He looked at me, all I could do was shake my head "Then why is h-" Shina got interrupted as Oliver shot again, even more scared before, it almost grazed Shina, I knew he had enough as Shina grabbed the rifle and used the butt of it to knock Oliver in the face, he stepped back in pain and tripped, he looked at both of us, even more tears than before. He got curled up in a ball, whatever he was seeing him had finally broke him, as he started to mumble to himself just like before, except this time I could hear whatever he was saying
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, so..so sorry" Whatever it was put him on the edge, whatever it was hit that mark of bringing him down.
Whatever it was, Whatever broke him, I promised myself
I was gonna kill it

Wander West, in Shadow
BOOK 1 COMPLETED A young wizard journeys west, through dark forests and dangerous lands, searching for something. Accompanied by a wild witch who has secrets of her own, they come across terrible creatures, hauntings, cursed villages, and memories from their past. Who else will they meet along their journey, and to find what he is looking for, how far will the wizard have to wander west? NOTE: The above synopsis is intentionally written to be as spoiler-free as possible. If you would like a more in-detail synopsis, one that contains minor spoilers, please check out the "Synopsis" chapter at the beginning of this fiction. If you read and enjoy, please leave a rating or review! FORMERLY TITLED: THE GLIMMERLING This story was formerly titled "The Glimmerling", because the first part was a short story of that title; it has since been expanded upon, thus the title change. Chapters 1-8 (30k words) are the first 'arc', if you want to get a feel for the story. To give some context on the setting: Magic is a bit weaker in this story than you might be used to, and we start off following some relatively new magic users. For some perspective, being able to light a campfire with magic is considered relatively advanced for someone who is the age of the main character. Magic can become very powerful - and there are some examples of powerful wizards within this story - but it's not where the main characters are yet. Part of the story is about following them as they learn more about magic. Enemies are also very dangerous, and running, hiding, or trying to talk their way out of a dangerous situation is often a better choice than fighting for the characters. While I have added tags for traumatizing content, sexuality, violence, swearing, etc. I try to avoid super-explicit descriptions of these things. But they are part of the story.
