《Lobotomy Corporation: Second Wave》Day 6: Another Check-up
Advertisement
I promised myself that no matter the cost I would kill whatever drove Oliver to insanity, although, if I remember correctly there wasn't an abnormality that makes people see things, so, there is a chance it could just be PTSD resurfacing regardless, I have to go to work, especially now that Oliver is out of commission for the time being.
"Mornin Leo, how's it going" As usual Taylor greeted me just like the others
"Nothing much, but can I ask you something" I asked
"Shoot"
"Obviously we get new abnormalities every day, but is it possible to get two at once?" I put down documents that I gathered through my restless night
"I mean...yeah, but that only really happens when we're really established so at the very least, we shouldn't have gotten another one on purpose. Why do you ask" Taylor started going through the documents I put in front of him
"I just..find it off" I sat in the chair opposite of him while Taylor looked at me while tilting his head
"You're referring to Oliver's outburst yesterday right? To be honest, I have to agree, he's normally calm and collected, then next you know he's on the floor crying" Although he was caring about Oliver I felt something else was off, something about Taylor felt weird yet I couldn't put my finger on it "Regardless" I was cut off from my thinking "We should do our best to work and maybe if you got extra time Leo, you can pay him another visit" I got up ready to continue my job so I could check up on Oliver, but I was getting up Taylor interrupted me again by putting his hand on my shoulder and with his iconic sinister smile he said "Oh, and make sure to bring Shinryaku as well..you know...just in case" Sadly I knew what he meant if Oliver was beyond saving me may have to 'give him an early retirement' as I heard some others say.
I was doing my job restocking and bringing papers to other areas until I felt a tap behind me
"Need somethin?" I asked as I turned to where it came from
"Let's go meet Oliver" Shina said
"Heh? I..Sure but I gotta do my jo-
"No, we go now, If Oliver is having issues seeing people what makes you think it's gonna stop by him leaving the place. Taylor certainly ain't helping either, I can tell deep down he doesn't care"
"Why don't you go alone then, I gotta finish up"
"Leo, do I seem like the type of person who can make someone forget their trauma"

"Yet I-
"Leo...What I'm trying to say is you need to be there if something happens"
"...fine, yeah I'll do it, for Oliver" I put down my boxes and followed him to the elevator "You know we may get fired"
"ehh, I never liked this corp anyways" for the first time I saw a genuine smile "It's weird Oliver took a liking to you really quick, you know each other from somewhere?
"No, but if you're willing to get fired from a job that pays this much even with its risks then you and Oliver have to be close" Shina stood there, either thinking of what to say or if he should say anything at all
"Yeah, he saved me when I was a kid. I know I may not seem like it but one day, I hope I can be as heroic as him"
"Well you got a long way then" I said with a taunting smirk. He looked at me with a grin
"Yeah...I guess I do" After a pause he spoke again "You wanna hear it...how he saved so many people"
"yeah.. go ahead"
Day - 1486 Shinryaku's POV
At this point in time, I was just a high sch...no, a delinquent would be more fitting. I spent most of my time skipping classes and smoking wherever although that was nowhere the end of my wreckless shenanigans. I remember it clearly I was stealing from a store without then knowing, although I could understand why, right outside was an oversized blob with mask-like grins all over it staring through the windows and if you listened closely you could hear alarms in the distance. I froze, I stood there doing nothing as my thoughts became clustered. The only thing I remember was glass crashing and hitting the floor and since the cashier ran away already, it came after me and I blacked out.
Yet when I woke up I wasn't dead, no, instead I saw a young man with a hammer, and if I recall that hammer was the abnormality's E.G.O. He was holding the monster back all on his own he got hurt here and there but he held out until more agents arrived, he then came to me as his co-workers dealt with it.
"Hey there, you alright?" He asked with a calm tone like he was used to this
"I..I..what's going on" Until that day I never feared death, but knowing those things almost got me even I was on the verge of tears
"Listen, after this do you mind if we take you somewhere? It'll help you feel better" After he said that I heard cries as more monsters came out of the direction the alarms were blaring and instead of running he ran right into danger with other agents to prevent as many casualties as possible yet even while he got hurt or other agents fled in fear he stood his ground even if it meant fighting alone. For once in my life I had someone to look up to, even if we never met again I wanted to become just like him, not a delinquent, but a hero.

"Wait, did he ever take you to the place he talked about?" Leo questioned
"Yeah, although it wasn't him it was another agent so it may not be the place he referred to" I looked up at the sky as we were getting closer to where Oliver lives "That place was to erase our memories of the incident in town, that certain Lobotomy corp was well corrupted, they wanted the best reputation possible even if it meant wiping memories through illegal practice"
"But how do you remember?"
"Oliver of course, he came last second and told them to call it off, that from this day forward they should focus on helping others, not their own reputation"
Leo's POV
So, Oliver was a renowned hero back then, I wonder what he looked like when he was younger, even if it was just about 4 years
"Well we're here, wanna do the honors?" Shina asked
"I mean it's a doorbell but alright" I walked forward and pressed it....nothing....there was another
"Try again" Shina suggested, and I followed I hit it again....nothing "The hell?"
"Do you think?" Even I didn't wanna think about it but with his state, it's a possibility
"Move" Shina grabbed my shoulder and moved me aside "Oliver!" He shouted as he kicked the door "Hey Leo" He motioned his head at the door and so we both kicked it, causing it to break off whatever lock was on and open
"Oliver!"I shouted through the building....nothing, Shina already started searching while I went through the bedroom hoping he was just in bed on his medicine like before yet once again...nothing, except one detail that was new "Shina!" I called him over and he came running into the room
"Ye-"He didn't finish, he saw the same scene I did, blood on the floor, a wheelchair turned over, a broken bed, and an open window "What the hell? What happened here"
"Hey Shina, do you think by chance that the vision Oliver saw was real? that maybe just maybe it's an abnormality"
Shina nodded "Yeah, even if he was in a wheelchair he could defend himself, but not against an abnormality it only makes sense"
"Alright, let's get searching for Oliver"
"Do we have any leads?"
"Just one, but I feel it's pretty major, sadly it's a big place so it'll take a while to search it, but I have a big gut feeling he's there" I stepped outside and headed downstairs
"Lead the way" and so I did I lead him to the place Oliver showed me the day I found out he was on medication
"Isn't this...the old Lobotomy Corporation" Shina looked surprised as was I when I saw it
"Oliver showed me this when I visited him that day, I feel like he's there"
"Well, let's get going"
"What about our job, I mean I know Oliver matters more but who knows what Ta-
"Fuck Taylor, that guys a weirdo no matter how you look at it"
"I..guess you have a point" Both Shina and I went down the mountain into the old LC to think they built it near the ocean, stupid choice
"I say we search the Control Team area first, after all, he's working in that zone now even with Tsuki here so he may just have a connection with the team" Shina already went inside taking out a flashlight he brought along
"Didn't you say you didn't know people well?"
"I have no recollection of that"
"huh, maybe I just imagined it" Shina looked at me and after a few seconds he continued to look around, I wonder what that was all about.
"Hey Leo, I'm gonna search these papers real quick for any connection to Oliver, don't leave the room okay?"
"Alrighty" I looked around the room nearly looking at everything while Shina looked through stacks of papers until my stubborn searching resulted in me finding something, while kneeling and searching I noticed a rectangle hole in the wall "What the" I muttered to myself then the most stupidest idea came to mind, I took out the phone Oliver gave me and put it in...a perfect fit the wall raised to reveal a passage leading down...straight into the darkness "Hey Shina I found something" I looked to my left to where Shina was..yet he wasn't there I heard a creak behind me and I took out my gun whipping it towards the noise but I was too late I felt something metal hit my head and I got sent going down the stairs into the dark
Into the dark I so passionately hated
