《Death Note : A New Story》Possibilities

I walked towards the cabinet and pulled out the death note. After stretching my hands I opened the book while seated next to my study table.
Kira: "I've already confirmed that the death note holds some significance. Now, I'll try and see the limitations of the notebook."
Ryuk: "Get me some apples."
I opened my laptop and started searching for recent inmates. I found the perfect first candidate, Ray Banner, a murderer evicted for 12 cases of felony and 3 gruesome murders. For a murderer on death row, it wouldn't be surprising if the person decided to kill himself prior to the date of his sentence considering his poor choices in life. Secondly, he was on the other side of the world. This made it evident that any string of events pertaining to a series of deaths wouldn't lead up to me. That is, if I ever decided to experiment further.
Ryuk: "Oy, quit ignoring me. I'm a shinigami for god's sake. Get some apples. I'm hungry."
I looked at the time. It was 7 o'clock in the evening. It was then I realised; that the time of the murders could be linked to a time zone. The only solution for such a problem was consistency. If I constantly killed one at a time, once a day, no one would be able to tell where I was. I set an alarm for 8 o'clock, the time I would experiment on the death note.
Ryuk: "Hey, this is too much, I really need apples now. Do you know how bad the apples are up there?!"
I face Ryuk with a dry expression on my face.
Kira: "You're a god of death. Get some yourself."
Ryuk: "Fine. If you want to be like that, I'm eating the fruit basket downstairs."
I hopped out of my chair.
Kira: "Wait! My family's down there! What if they see you?!"
Ryuk: "Don't worry about that. Only the people who touch a death note will ever be able to see me."
Kira: "Alright then. Go ahead."
I sat back in my chair and continued researching further.
