It is nighttime. The moonlight shines through the windows, providing a sliver of light. She thinks I am asleep, curled up in her old woven blankets. But alas, I am not.
Her back is facing me, her arms raised up high. Several monitors flicker, matching the movements of her arms. She speaks in tongues - from words, to sounds reminiscent of the beeps of a television. At one point, all I can hear is deafening static.
The beeps, the sounds, her words, her not words - the flickering monitors and the streams of light. It all seems to flow together in a strange, wondrous way. Is this what she plans to show the investor? What is she going to do?
Technomancers are still very strange to me. They are a relatively new branch of magic; the act created by Magi and the term coined by those who are not. It simulates the acts of necromancy - control over the unliving- but rather, taking power from technologies both old and new. As for the end goal of a technomancer… That I still do not know. And perhaps, I do not seek to understand.
Her words get faster and as do the lights. A monitor begins to float off the ground, but she appears to pay it no mind. Light flows out completely from all the screens - and I can see just glimpses of images. Almost like it were a stream of consciousness of sorts. The lights merge together and take almost… almost a human form.
Is she trying to create… a being?
But then the being stretches out a hand and it all comes undone. Her words come to a stop and she falters; the lights halt and the monitors fall.
I pretend the crash is enough to wake me, “W-What was that…?!”
And she turns back to me, sheepish. Tears in her eyes. “S… Sorry. Did I, uh… wake you?”
A snarky response itches at the back of my throat, but I keep my mouth shut in favour of coming towards her with open arms. She crashes against my chest and sobs openly, throwing her own arms around me. We stay there for what feels like forever, until she falls asleep. I wrap a blanket around us both find myself passing out as well.

Wuthering Heights (1847)
Wuthering Heights is a wild, passionate story of the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine's father. After Mr Earnshaw's death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine's brother Hindley and wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later as a wealthy and polished man. He proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries. The action of the story is chaotic and unremittingly violent, but the accomplished handling of a complex structure, the evocative descriptions of the lonely moorland setting and the poetic grandeur of vision combine to make this unique novel a masterpiece of English literature.
