Chapter 4
The accidental fight
And the boy ran through the traps newly laid for him, dodging each and every trap and cramps, jumping along the pit, he reached the human statue and gave a swipe from his sword from his inner left to the outer right. All the master were watching this as they had put a special test, only for Leofin, who had hit now.
The Zer’Ku’len Maiya was replaced by Zer’Ku’len Meona by the masters as Zer’Ku’len Maiya forced the swords energy to replaced against which trained the warriors to control their energy when needed. While Zer’Ku’len Meona forced the sword to release energy such that even a newly binded warrior, a child will release a blasé of energy.
But Leofin’s didn’t. A sword made, who unlocks when needed, at the exact beginning was his, the one made for him by the dimensioner himself.
Mystcot sighed.
“Did you ever think of passing out of here as a warrior or should we take you sword away from you and put you unto some other work.”
Leofin responded not like usual in the arrogant manner but was speech bound.
“I, I, try my best sir, everyday…. I also want o go to the kin to serve my people.”
Not even hearing what he said Mystcot retreated back into the Master’s compartments. Ivan who was watching this, tried to comfort Leofin, but he was as if he had lost everything in his life.
Ogrek said to Mystcot,
“What do you plan to do with the child, I suggest place him in the escort.”
“He’s sword-bind” said Mystcot banging the table with force.
“Yes, binded with a sword of no power such that, even a wind-steed could not be produced by him, even Zer’Ku’len Meona test failed, he cannot even use a blade now because of his binding, better if he was not bind.” said Mayoko.
“I saw you teach him the blade-art. So let him use the sword as if a blade and when the time comes the true potential shall be unlocked.” said Marmok.
“Seems that’s the only way left.” sighed Mystcot and resolved to them.
Leofin was waving his sword while Ivan was talking to him, trying to get him out of the mood when a servant was sent to him to be called towards the council, the council of masters, to decide his fate, the fate of a child, a warrior, with prowess just like others.
Leofin and Ivan entered the room where the council was seated, where aloft sat the master Mystcot at the centre, all the other masters beside.
“You have been taught how to use the sword, even though not enough to produce the sparks of energy as necessary.” said Ogrek.
“For centuries of tradition, the masters taught beforehand their disciple before they are assigned to the kin. Only very few exist at a time and the ones have to pass the test directly given by the King. You will be assigned to an ordinary group of people as you and your service may not be required always. The masters present here are

Me, the sword trainer
Ogrek, the warhammerlamperer
Mayoko, the arrowcast
Marmok, the priest
Revarin, the arch-mage
Eleen, the weapon forger.”
said Mystcot.
“We have decided to make you a member of the evening patrol along with your friend here, Ivan, and I say to him, it will be his responsibility to take care of the new comrade.” said Mayoko.
“Meanwhile, you will also use all other weapons and art here so that you may become and expert and hence it will help you in the future.” said Revarin.
“But I want to be a warrior, not a soldier.”
“The day we found that you were sword-bind, I checked your sword, it proved to be of immense potential, so if you could not even pass the test of Zer’Ku’len Meona, then we wonder how you passed the sword to bind with you.” said Eleen, the forger.
“You have been taught the sword art, but could not succeed much, but as I have taught you to fight with a blade, you can use your sword in the same manner. Don’t worry; your sword won’t be taken from you.”
Marmok stood up as the ceremony demanded, and so did all masters, he went over to Leofin and with his staff touching his left shoulders said, “From here on you are a member of the night patrol of the Kingdom, of the sworn masters, remember your duty warrior to you King and kin, forget not you masters and your supporters in the way, fight as you will, following the rules of the tradition, let everyone be proof to this, I declare you the member of the guard of the Reverill village, do you accept your duty.”
Leofin was dumb folded for a moment, but he said in a slow manner, “Yes, I do.” being trained in tradition.
“Then rise warrior, trained by a soldier, your heart leys to your sword, so your wishes too.”
Mystcot came forward and signaled Ivan to do the same.
Mystcot said, “Will you an independent soldier of the patrol of Reverill village, take my student as your responsibility, to teach him the ways you follow as the king and kin, I his master demands.”
Ivan replied, “I do.”
Cutting in hand slightly so that blood may flow, he let the blood drop onto Master Mystcot’s hand.
Mystcot said, “Then Leofin, the warrior unknown of his skills, I am your master till the end of your time, but you shall be the apprentice of Ivan the soldier, unless he frees you as independent, you are subjected to listen to his voice while in patrol, do you comply.”
“Yes I do.” said Leofin.
The arch-mage showed a sign with his hands, the room became a castle hall, they were inside the chamber of the King, the King was seated in his throne, the mage had teleported them all. All the masters and Ivan kneeled before the king and stood, each having different postures, Mystcot took his swords handle to the chest, sword pointing toward the ground. Eleen bowed with both his hands at the back, Revarin touched his brooch to his head, Marmok just bowed his head, Ogrek pulled his battle hammer to the air, Mayoko bended her knees in semi-kneeling position. Ivan knelt to the whole way round touching his head to his blade’s blunt end, and then everyone looked at Leofin standing still.

Ivan said, “Choose your salute form as your heart commands.”
The King stood up from his throne looking to the new soldier. Leofin was shivering as he didn’t know what to do, he had never thought he would reach this stage, he touched his sword with fear of being punished, unsheathed it, it talked to his heart like never before, he could feel his energy building, now he knew what was said of the bonding between the sword and the wielder was true. He accepted the bondage and both his hands wielded the sword, the hilt touching his chest, the sharp end his hairs, then he made a circular round with the sword hilt, the tip pointed towards zenith, and when it reached the original position he gave a sudden slash such that it was balanced in his right hand alone and it rested at his side in a ready position.
Everyone, even the King was shocked as this was the salute of the first and the previous warren Warrymn known to the few. Of course, the presence of the king always made the reluctant artifacts and the wielder to demonstrate the real power temporally so that their capacity could be understood.
“You now will only use your salute in selected occasions as the tradition demands, which will be taught by the selected person.” The King carried a blade by his hilt, he had a beard and a long hair, he was pale white and always dressed as if he was in battleground. The King had married a sorceress, Glinda and had a daughter Remuka who was going to succeed her mother in sorcery.
The King now asked, “Who are you warrior and what is your sword.”
Leofin didn’t know what to answer, but his sword knew every warrior had their name as a warrior besides common name; the sword also had a name, the both only revealed by the sword when talked to it.
But involuntarily, he lifted his sword touched the ground and balanced it with one hand saying, “I am Leofin, and my sword name is not known to me.” but suddenly he said again, “I am Zermeon, destructor of the spectral beings, commander of the forces of weils, wielder of the sword Reventhina, the dark manned sword, made of the blood of the blood, by the forger of the forgers, I am the possessor of the sword and the sword of me.”
Even though everyone was astonished no one did speak as they knew this was common for the sword to declare its name and wielder in times of need as, as in ceremony. Anyway, they all understood he and the sword had powers.
The King came forward, so did Sorceress Glinda, Priest Raven of the court, warrior Mastin of the court, and King the soldier.
“The King you will have to fight and any one more of us too. Choose.”
Leofin said childishly, “I don’t think I can fight any one of you.”
Leofin had erred now. All the masters took their weapons, so also did the three who was asked to be challenged, Ivan also advanced because stating he could not fight any one of them meant he had to fight them all.
Leofin knew now there was no way, he clenched hard on his sword thinking the sword may grant him power, but it did not. Before he could even do anything he was thrown to the ground by Glinda spell, all of them had defeated him; he took his sword and gave a double slash in the air towards Glinda, a burst of air shot through the edges of the blade. But Glinda had attacked with a ball of fire faster, and Leofin was thrown aback.
All of them returned to their former positions, The King said, “You are not worthy of your sword, It will be taken back from you.”
Leofin jumped back to his place, sword in hand. Now he knew there was no way around, the sword took over him, he said, “I challenge the priest.”
That was the only way, all of them went back, the priest advanced, he spoke a charm and three elementals of earth appeared from thin air, ten foot high, six foot wide, they advanced. Leofin waved his sword lightly, nothing happened. He remembered Mystcot training him of how with a blade a man could defeat anyone; he took ever the sword to his control, leaping over the elemental, his word waved with full force as it hit the head of the main elemental. The head was cut and hence all of the three returned to their realm.
Raven said, “I am sure he is eligible now.”
The King said, “Rise warrior, do your duty, free this land of damage. The area of your patrol is near the Reverill forest, you may have to take care of both the beings from the forest and the elves. Kill the beings with no feeling that means harm and show diplomacy and hostility no matter whoever it is.
The King turned to Revarin, “now you may leave.”
They were back in their cottage.
Mystcot asked to test, “How did you get your sword name and sword’s name.”
“I don’t know, it just took over me and I spoke without even thinking.” Leofin said.
“It’s sure now you have a sword of power, but it will not be unlocked until you prove worthy of it, anyway now leave.” said Marmok.
Ivan and Leofin exited out of the room. All the masters were happy now so was Ivan, but Leofin’s mind was under peril.

The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com
