《The Sinful Mortal》Final Day

The chaotic first night ended. All those who could be harvested were harvested. The winners were counting their gains. Each received a sum of points. After the first night, the chaotic situation receded. Fights rarely occurred. Each survivor was hidden in the shadows. Waiting or searching for pray. None used their consciousness to probe. If they discovered someone, that someone would also discover them. Everyone except Artix. He discovered that he could use his consciousness to lock onto someone without being discovered. Even the elites were oblivious to his presence. But, he knew that if they were to get serious, they would still manage to find him. He didn't act as wantonly as before. He would attack when they were most unguarded. It was when they were celebrating their victory!
Six days passed and it was the final night. Of the original 1023 students, only 34 remained. Most of them were exhausted. Only the elites were in a better shape. The clock was ticking and the final battle was drawing near.
The barrier around the city started to shrink. The students started to make their way to the centre. They reached a circular platform with a diameter of 1km. There were 33 students, among them were 19 elites, 2 of them were eliminated. 25 boys and 8 girls. The elites nodded at each other and planned to eliminate the rest first. After a quick battle, only 19 were left. 13 boys and 6 girls. They distanced themselves from each other. No one trusted the other. No one knew how many points the other had.
Suddenly, dust covered the whole platform. The situation became chaotic. Everyone started running toward the student nearest to them. Fights broke out quickly.
Ronald Raldy was a boy who was 3 metres tall and had 2 pairs of brown wings on his back. He had short brown hair and blue eyes. He, too, went to the student nearest to him. He couldn't fly, otherwise he would become an easy target. He dashed and clashed with the other student, a boy with a tail and a horn. After the first clash, they separated. Ronald used several Windblades in succession. The boy condensed a shield to receive the attack. Ronald charged forward. So did the boy. The two clashed in close combat. Ronald condensed a sword while the boy fought with fists. Ronald would slash with his sword while the boy would block it with his punch. Ronald had the upper hand. Finally, the boy could not take it and decided to go all out. He condensed a huge palm with mana and infused Fire Law into it. Ronald condensed a huge sword and infused both Air and Fire Laws into it. The two objects clashed. The sword cut the hand in half and continued towards the boy. The boy's bracelet lit up and he was teleported away. The dust was swept away by the clash. Ronald didn't relax. He surveyed his surroundings. He found that 19 were reduced to 10 including him. Each had condensed a huge object. The next fight was simple.

Ronald looked as the final student disappeared and turned into light. His breathing was heavy, but that didn't diminish his joy. He was the the champion of this group! BANG! That was what Ronald thought anyway. With that, he turned into light and disappeared.
A boy appeared behind him. The ghost Artix, the 34th survivor.
**********
Ronald appeared outside. He looked around and saw the faces of those he defeated just now. He looked at them with confusion. They looked at him with pity. Ronald expressed his puzzlement. They pointed toward the screen broadcasting the final fight. Ronald looked at the screen to see that a boy was standing in his place.
"It's the ghost!"
"That shameless guy became the champion!"
"He's no man. He only stabs others in the back."
"Damn! This is so unfair!"
Hearing the students around him, Ronald understood what happened. Anger burst out from inside Ronald. He took a close look at the boy to memorize how he looks like. He asked around for his name. 'Artix Fergusson! I will deal with you in the next round.'
**********
"Ah-choooo..."
'Is someone cursing me behind my back?' Artix thought. He didn't put much thought into it. He was extremely happy. He became the champion! He had always dreamt about standing on the platform as the final victor.
His bracelet lit up and he was teleported away. Artix looked around. Almost all the students cast their gazes towards his direction. Some were indifferent, some were envious, some were filled with fear while others carried hatred. Suddenly, Artix felt a warning sign. He cast his gaze toward a certain direction. He saw Ronald looking at him with extreme hatred. He saw him moving his mouth, then Ronald turned around and left.
'Was that killing intent?' Artix wondered. He was also surprised that he could sense such a small killing intent. 'Although the book said that one would grow more sensitive to killing intent if one comprehended death, I didn't expect the effect to be so good!'

As for what that boy said before he left, he didn't care. He could guess that it should something along the lines of 'I will deal with you later'. 'You have to find me first!' Artix thought.
Artix then went to receive his reward as the champion. A pill that could extend his domain by 20km. It would effectively double his domain. Artix went straight back to his room. He kept Hide on all the time. It became a habit. Artix sat on his bed and swallowed the pill. The pill melted and Artix immediately used mama to distribute the pill to all the cells in his body. The process was extremely relaxing. After half an hour, Artix opened his eyes. He checked his domain and found that it can extend to 44km now. That meant that he could keep Hide perpetually on at 130 XMR (times the minimum rate)! Artix guessed that at this rate, he would be safe as long as he kept a 10m distance from them. He guessed that if he increased the rate to 260 XMR, they wouldn't be able to notice him even if he were to stick close to them. During the final fight, he increased the rate to 200 XMR and no one managed to find him. Artix knew that the rumours about him would spread and it would not be so easy for him in the next round. But, now he had enough confidence to face anyone. From behind that is!

Bon Week-end
He runs the underground. She’s made it her playground. Their time together--the stuff of pulp fiction. When a corrupt corporate conspiracy threatens to tear them apart, they blast back with their offbeat brand of crime and chaos. This story is just one from the pulps. Film critic Roger Ebert once described them as ‘cheap, disposable entertainment that you could take to work with you, and roll up and stick in your back pocket.’ So do just that--and read it on the weekend. Bon Week-end is a novel written in the tradition of Jean-Patrick Manchette’s neo-polar, existing now as what shall be known as the neo-serial. This is Nippoten’s second serial following the superhero epic Entirely Presenting You. This novel will have a rather unique release schedule compared to others.
