A week passed.

"Today we are going to talk about combination techniques." Said Samantha, "But first, let's recall what we learnt in the previous week."

"We learnt that when we infuse the laws into an object we can command the laws to perform a certain spell when the object is infused with enough mana. This is referred to as command infusion. It is also the basis for the combination technique and weapon refining, weapon refining is also called tool refining. The difference between weapon refining and combination technique is in the object infused with the command. For combination techniques, you infuse commands into objects condensed from mana, while in weapon refining you infuse commands into other physical objects apart from mana. We will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of each method later."

"Now, some of you might ask, what's the point of doing this when I can unleash the spell myself? Well, the answer is that you can do things that wouldn't have been possible for you to do before. For example, you can't unleash several spells from the same law at the same time. But, you can infuse several commands from the same law into the same object and then you can infuse the commands with mana simultaneously unleashing them at the same time. The time needed to cast them will also be shortened greatly. But, that isn't all. We learnt previously that Law Masters can use every command the law can offer. But, even if they can use it theoretically, they won't be able to provide it with the amount of mana required. But, if they infuse the command into an object, several Warriors can share the load of providing the mana required, thus unleashing the spell. This is also the reason why combination techniques played a huge role in the war against the Gods. Another reason is that it allows for complex spells to be unleashed. This is done by setting the commands to operate in a certain order when infusing them and have them link to each other in some way, this is called a program. Take the bracelets you wear in the combat exams for example. They are infused with a program such that you will be transferred outside once the barrier protecting you receives a certain amount of damage."

"Oh!" The students got excited when they heard about how something they know works. Children are filled with curiosity after all.

"Alright, I will make a demonstration for you now," said Samantha, "Watch carefully."

Then Samantha raised her hand and condensed a small blade with her mana. Next, she infused it with commands and set up a basic program. She then infused mana into the blade. A ball of magma appeared near the blade and floated in front of the students. Exclaims came from the students. Those in the front row didn't feel any change in temperature. It seemed like the ball was isolated.

"If you want to make a ball of magma, normally you would need to take a lump of rock and heat it till it melts. This is a long process and you might even hurt yourself in the process. But, with the use of the Matter Law and combination techniques, all I need to do is to keep infusing mana into the blade to keep the ball floating. Now if I stop infusing mana," said Samantha, then she stopped infusing the mana into the blade, the ball of magma disappeared like it was never there to begin with, "You can see that the ball of magma disappeared instead of remaining. This wouldn't have been possible normally. But, you can set your program in such a way as to reverse the process once the supply is cut off. This is helpful in preventing accidents. In fact, accidents rarely happen since you can probably guess what your program will do even before activating it. But, it is always better to be safe than sorry."

After a round of clarifications, Samantha continued, "Now we will compare the advantages and disadvantages of weapon refining and combination techniques. The object that is infused with a program will wear out much faster than usual or in some cases it will get destroyed directly. There is no such issue with infusing mana with programs. Also, the amount of mana needed to activate the program is greater making weapon refining less efficient. Even then, weapon refining is used more wildly because it does not need the Warrior to constantly keep the objects existence. Most of the things around you are made by weapon refining. For example, the teleport portals, the bracelets or even your ID cards. But, the best part is that you can make a tool- which is an object infused with a program- that makes other tools!"

Another round of exclaims came from the students. Samantha then summarised the main points of the lesson today. She then looked at the students and said, "There are five months left before your break. Your project is to come up with a simple program and demonstrate it at the end of the year. The group with the best program will win a special reward and will advance to compete with the other elite classes. Now I am going to announce the students in each group. Group 1..., Group 23, Artix Fergusson, Lisa Peters and Geoffrey Lincoln, Group 24... You can find plenty of books in the library and you can use them as reference. Remember, your goal is to come up with a simple program and not to simply infuse a command into an object. Don't get discouraged when you fail at the beginning," students were confused, but Samantha just smiled- under her veil- without explaining. Only when they try it out for themselves will they understand how hard it is. People who only watch something and haven't tried it themselves are filled with false confidence. She then continued, "Also make sure to test your programs under the supervision of one of the teachers. You are not allowed to attempt it on your own or you will be penalized. Alright you're dismissed."

The students gathered in their respective groups and went out together.
