《Road》Chapter 5

After the light show, I found myself in a slightly dark, damp place. I looked around, we were in a big, open area as long as the eye could see. I was looking around when there was a light in front of me. After the light dimmed I saw that it was Jade. She looked around carefully. 'It seems she came here before.' Knowing my job, I quickly used my Boost Strength and Boost Agility on her. That left me with 60 mana. Then we started waiting for the others. Next was Wan, then Elin and Lakeesha.
After I boosted them too they started walking in a direction that doesn't look like anything special. I followed them closely of course since I was under the most threat from monsters.
We walked like that for a while before seeing the first monster. Now I expected there would be zombies here but I didn't think how gross it would look. It was a very disgusting sight. Its skin pealed some parts, its innards were dangling while it was shuffling towards us. Thankfully Lakeesha finished it before it came closer with an arrow to the head.
Defeated Zombie Level 10
Gained 200/5= 40 EXP
“Well, this isn't much.” Jade looked at me and gestured me to wait. I nodded then shrugged to myself.
I understood why she told me to wait when there was an army of zombies before us. There were easily a hundred of them. I looked at Jade who seemed confident. Her confidence relieved me too and I relaxed the muscles I didn't know were tense.
Lakeesha started the attack and another zombie fell to her arrow. Noticing this, zombies started moving towards us. Then Jade rushed to the middle of them. This made zombies to congregate around her. After waiting for a few seconds in the middle of them, she jumped towards us. As soon as she did, there was an explosion, and all the zombies close to the center of their mass burned to crisps. I looked around to find who was responsible to see it was Elan. 'Of course. Expect the destruction from the fire mage.' Then Wan disappeared and started appearing above zombies with a speed I couldn't quite follow. I shrugged and walked to a dawned zombie and started chanting. It was an odd sensation. I didn't even know what to say but I was saying it all the same. When I felt like chanting was coming to an end I pointed my finger to the head of the downed zombie's head and a bolt of light hit it there. Nothing happened at first, then after a second all its body gave light and it turned to ash. I looked around to see how much left, but there was nothing much. Then I noticed Lakeesha looking at me oddly. I waved at her, she just looked at somewhere else. I shrugged and waited for the team to finish the zombies since I was out of mana.
It didn't take long. After a few minutes, we were standing on a field of ash. I looked at Jade who seemed like intended to continue walking. I called for her. "Jade." She looked at me. "Doesn't these guys drop mana stones?"

She looked at me oddly. "Just wait for a second." I nodded and after a few seconds, there were screens.

Seeing the screens I couldn't help but smile. While I was basking at the glory of my new catch, I felt a pressure on my shoulder. I turned around, it was Jade.
She was smiling. “This is a great place to grind right?” I nodded. She continued. “Wait until you see the boss. You will love it.” I nodded and started casting my boosts to party members.
We walked a few minutes before I saw a giant zombie. Others stopped, so I did too. They turned to me. I waited to get an explanation. Unexpectedly, the one to talk was Wan. He looked at me. “Stay here. Don't get close or attack it. Don't stay at the direction of its head or you might burn.” 'At this range?' I quickly nodded and stood at the side. After looking and nodding each other, they started walking towards the giant.
When they reached about five meters of the giant, it noticed the party. They suddenly dispersed and Jade started to run directly towards it. Giant took a deep breath and screamed. It was so powerful ground cracked and I saw the ground displaced by the sky.
I slowly stood up, doing my best to not fall again. I looked towards my party and saw them fighting against the Giant.
Jade was the main attacker. She attacked directly and took the most of the zombie's focus. Wan was flickering in and out of combat attacking zombies back, and Lakeesha sending bright arrows at its face. I noticed Elan wasn't attacking. I looked at her carefully and saw that she was pointing at the zombie and chanting something. I was brought out of my musings by a heatwave so strong that it made my hair catch fire. I turned towards the source and saw a giant closing its giant mouth. Where it was looking a long streak of fire. It seems my party thought of this as an unfavorable circumstance since they were staying away from the zombie. While thinking what is next, I remembered Wan's warning about the direction of the zombie. Thinking what might happen if it was looking towards me was enough to make me sweat.
After I forced myself out of thinking worst-case scenarios I remembered my duty. Boosting my party. 'I don't know whose buff expired. It would be great if there was a screen..' A light bulb went in my head. I quickly said "Party Status" and it was there.

Then I started recasting my boosts starting Jade. Thanks to my giant Soul stat, casting my boost again and again didn't take long.
After I was done with renewing boosts, I continued to watch the fight. When I looked, I saw that giant was standing on a single leg and one of its arms dangling uselessly.
Suddenly Elan started yelling and finally, after a few seconds, she finished and a small, transparent ball flew towards the giant and hit it on the head. It didn't stop when it hit though, it instead got faster and after punching through Giants skull, continued to fly away. I only watched the spell with fascinated horror. "There is no stopping it," I whispered to myself but seemingly hearing me, Elan looked and smirked.
I shook my head and looked at the Giant. It was still alive and kicking. I sighed. Just when I was thinking of charging a Holy Light Spell I saw Wan on its head. He was holding on to the Giant's skull and attacking its brain at the hole Elan's spell opened. He managed to hit it a few times but had to leap when Giant tried to squash him. Wan went above its hand but before he could land Giant took a deep breath and towards Wan, screamed. Seemingly affected by Giant's shout, Wan fell limp. I quickly ran towards him and held him, trying to help him stand.
After a few seconds, he was still shaking and trying to stand. It wouldn't be a problem if Giant stopped attacking him but it didn't. It just breathed fire third time since its downed Wan. My clothes are already burned completely along with Wan's. Our bodies were touching each other when we were naked. You can guess how much I hated the giant zombie then. Giving up on staying at the fight, I started to run away with my load.
When we are at a safe distance, I put Wan down and started to stand guard all the while checking Party Status. There wasn't any problem, other than their SP. Their SPs were all drained nearly completely. Making a decision, I summon my new monster without looking to stand guard on Wan and ran towards the boss.
I reached there in a few seconds since I wasn't loaded like I was when going. I looked at the Jade who was only trying to dodge Giant's attacks. Elan and Lakeesha kept sending spells but Giant just didn't want to fall. I pointed my hand on it and started chanting my Holy Light. When my spell hit its head it zoomed on me smoke coming out of its ears. Then took a deep breath. Seeing this two times already, I started dodging to the side though it just turned with me. While running, I saw the depression made by Wan and take the gamble. I got inside and started praying that Giant doesn't send fire instead of sound. I closed my ears and started waiting. Then sound hit me like a truck and pushed me out of the depression but I was mostly good if a little shaky.
I checked my mana and seeing there is enough, started chanting again while looking for my teammates. They seemed to have temporarily retreated, probably to get some rest before attacking again. Giant too seemed to notice since it started dashing towards me. I released the spell and it hit the running giants head. For some reason it stumbled and fell to the ground, opening a depression. Then I saw a blur got up to the back of the Giant's neck and started slashing. It was Wan. Still, pretty much naked.
Every time Giant tried to stand up Wan stomped on it and that worked wonders. Unable to get up, Giant started to roll. Of course, Wan didn't fall for it and blurred away. I checked my mana but there wasn't enough for a spell. So I just started waiting on the side.
That was enough too since after taking a few more hits, it stopped trying to get rid of Wan and just laid there without doing anything. At this point, results were obvious. It only took a few seconds to make it official. After Bosses death, there were screens in front of me.
Your Summon Skeleton Level 1 has been slain.
Defeated Zombie Giant Level 20
Gained 4000/5 = 800 EXP
You collected 1 Mana Stone, Tier 2 Class: Sword Dancer, Dagger of Decay
“This is something worthy of grinding. I can't wait to do this again.” I said then felt someone slapping my shoulder slowly. I turned around to see the person and it was Wan. He opened his mouth to say something but I gestured him to stop. When he did, I took his hand away from my shoulder. “Please don't touch me when I am naked.”
He just chuckled and shook his head. "You don't need to be afraid. I am straight."
I just shook my head and turned to others. They arrived a few seconds after Giant's fall. After making sure everything was over, I opened my inventory. I took out the dagger and Class. The dagger had a black long blade and inscriptions on its handle. I looked at the class, it was just a paper describing a class. It seemed to be a warrior with an Agility focus. After thinking the most appropriate thing to do, I passed the dagger to Wan and paper to Jade. While they were looking at them, I turned to the other two and found them checking me out.

James was in his 30's when his death came suddenly, not that he minded much, as life was seeming to drag on. His story, however, did not end with his death. As a point of fact, it had only just begun. This will be my first work, so please by all means comment with any errors I may have made. Suggestions for the story (which may or may not be used). This is a litrpg and a bit of a power fantasy, so be warned the protagonist will be pretty OP eventually.
